"The staff were very helpful, professional & friendly. My room was excellent just the job. The fruit tea was great and so was the bathroom, tv and lighting. I went to a gig in Gateshead at the Central. It would also be excellent for the Glasshouse. I look forward to staying again."

"Had a lovely Easter stay with my family at Hilton Gateshead. Staff are lovely and so warm. Food was lovely too. Amenities and our room are clean. Will highly recommend this hotel."

"Its a terrible place.we found bedbugs on the bed We had our bath with cold water just because of a faulty shower. The place smells bad.We did not enjoy our stay."

"4-star hardware, but unfortunately 2-star service We arrived on the afternoon of 13 September 2026. Reception was initially OK, but the problems started with the lift. The doors kept opening and closing, and reception actually asked us to manually shut the lift door ourselves. Very strange for a 4-star hotel. The swimming pool experience was worse. There was no lifeguard or visible staff member at the pool, but CCTV appeared to be monitoring guests. Whenever they thought we were doing something wrong, a male staff member would suddenly come out and speak to us in a rude and impolite manner. We didn’t even know who he was. Instead of feeling relaxed, the pool felt more like a prison than a hotel facility. When we entered the restaurant, there was not even a simple “hello” or welcome. Staff just looked at us without acknowledging us or offering any assistance. Honestly, even at a basic 2-star hotel, I would expect a member of staff to open their mouth and say “hello” to arriving guests. This is the absolute minimum level of hospitality, especially for a hotel claiming a 4-star standard. Breakfast the next morning was clearly understaffed. During our stay the hotel appeared to have low occupancy, and we saw basically one waitress and one chef trying to run the whole breakfast service. Even a simple fried egg was unavailable, yet they were unwilling to refund the breakfast charge. My conclusion: the physical facilities may be 4-star standard, but the human service is nowhere near 4-star level. Unfortunately, the service we experienced was even worse than some 2-star hotels I have stayed at in third-tier cities in China. Four stars should mean more than having a swimming pool and decent facilities. Basic courtesy costs nothing — even a simple “hello” would have made a difference."

"Ok hotel bit outdated"

"A Travelodge is a Travelodge but the staff here made this stay a truly lovely experience. Everyone I chatted to while staying here was incredible: friendly, helpful, good humoured and always went the extra mile when we needed. Otherwise, yeah, we booked knowing the place was being done up but our stay wasn't impacted by that at all. Comfy beds, good base location to explore the area from. Asda and Metro Centre within easy walking distance. Very reasonable price, especially since we booked quite short notice!"

"Great service and vfm .. I enjoyed my stay . Staff very friendly and a clean comfy room Close enough to Gateshead and just over the bridge to Newcastle ..walking distance 15 mins Would definitely stay again 👍👍😀"
