Y Branwen Restaurant & Rooms - Adult Only and Dog Friendly ★★★★

"Our stay was brilliant from beginning to end. Friendly staff and even friendlier dogs. The room was spacious and well kept with plenty of teas, coffees etc and a coffee maker. Breakfast was really good with a good selection of options. The hotel is situated in a great spot close to the beach and the village with plenty of parking which seems to be at a premium in Harlech. I’m not sure who some of the people giving bad reviews of the hotel on here were dealing with but it was definitely nothing like they made it out to be. No arrogance, no rudeness or bad attitudes. Just happy helpful staff that made our stay welcoming and really enjoyable. I would guess that keyboard warriors are impossible to please and very vocal with their negativity. To quote Arnold Schwarzenegger “I’ll be back”"

Castle Cottage Inn ★★★

"What a fabulous place. Our room (no. 4), on the ground floor, with a limited view of the castle, (1 minute walk away) was spacious and spotlessly clean. It had some lovely extras, such as bathroom scales, air conditioning unit, fan, clothes steamer, comfy sofa and fridge. There were lots of toiletries in the bathroom, which had a bath and wet room. There were plenty of beverages, biscuits and a bottle of water. Pattra was a perfect hostess, nothing was too much trouble and she made sure we wanted for nothing. Castle Cottage Inn is on (allegedly) the steepest street in the world, and with only 3 parking spaces, it was a tight squeeze getting in (not for the faint-hearted). We ate in Pattra's restaurant once which was delicious. Harlech is a small place with therefore limited eating places, but we tried the local pizza restaurant which was made delicious pizzas. We will definitely be recommending Castle Cottage Inn to our friends."

"We were greeted by Adam, booked in and was then shown upstairs to our front of house family room. It was very nice, very clean with plenty of room. The en suite was large, with large shower and lovely toiletries. The beds and pillows very clean and comfortable. There was an abundance of tea, coffees and lots of different hot drinks to choose from. Plus loads of milk satchets and biscuits. Breakfast was plentiful. There was cereals, Yogurts, fruit and a tasty hot breakfast cooked perfectly . Tracey, the other owner, was lovely. Very welcoming, chatty and informative. The house itself is in a prime position. Minutes walk to Harlech Castle and the shops and cafes. It is, however, a bit of a slope down from the carpark and then steps up to the entrance. Probably not for the less agile. Don't be put off by the 'old' smell as you enter. It is after all an old property that is still being worked on, not that the work is apparent or disturbs you. I would readily recommend staying at Byrdir House. There are too many positives not to "
