房間裏可以看到河上水燈，有6-7個私湯，個人覺得立湯很舒服，2個公湯，一個大的景色很好，小的就遜色一點了，每天男女對換，餐食就正常水平，該有的都有，餐廳晚上也有水燈可以看到，後門離鎮中心不遠，正門其實在大巴進入黑川的第一家，大門口在彎進去的地方比較隱蔽所以有評論説比較難找，都有指示的。但是提前沒有郵件聯繫車站接送和有什麼餐飲過敏，本人因為先住了深山山莊，第二天的行李有深山送到山之子，去小鎮逛了一圈再過去走的後門還好找，住一天的小夥伴如果有行李還是自己聯繫一下接站，第二天有送到車站，總之還不錯。

An absolutely wonderful experience.
The staff at the ryokan were incredibly polite and always ready to help with anything we needed. Upon check-in, we were provided with traditional attire, pajamas, tabi slippers, bath amenities, and a small welcome treat with matcha and coffee. We also asked at the front desk if they could give us a ride to the bus stop after check-out, and they kindly said yes, of course. 
Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. At first, we were planning to explore several other local onsens, but after experiencing the ones at the ryokan, we felt completely satisfied. There are separate baths for hotel guests (men’s and women’s), baths open to both guests and visitors (also divided by gender), as well as a private onsen. One of the onsens also has a sauna.
The traditional dinner and breakfast were both impressive—delicious and very generous in portion.
The surrounding grounds are stunning, perfect for peaceful walks. This ryokan is a bit further from the main cluster of inns, but that was exactly what we wanted—to enjoy quiet walking.
At night, our futons were laid out for us, adding to the authentic experience. The only reason I deducted one star is the very bright green light on the ceiling that stays on all night and can’t be turned off or covered. I didn’t have a sleep mask with me, and the ryokan didn’t provide one, so I had a sleepless night. It was quite unpleasant.
That said, I still highly recommend this ryokan—it’s an unforgettable place to stay.

Останавливался на одни сутки в середине мая 2025г. Этот новый отель в традиционном стиле предназначен для уединений и спокойного отдыха. Абсолютная приватность, даже за завтраком вы ни с кем не пересекаетесь, вас обслуживает в приватной зоне ваш собственный официант. Была дождливая погода, поэтому я все время провел в отеле. Стильный огромный номер с большим собственным онсеном, из которого не хочется вылезать. Огромный телевизор с хорошим звуком и youtube, что в японских отелях есть далеко не всегда. Быстрый wifi. Завтрак-кайсеки очень вкусный, такой вкусный, что я съел бы еще такой же. Отель находится в деревне, сильно в стороне от поселка Курокава и автобусного терминала. Магазина в деревне нет, там вообще ничего нет. От автобусного терминала до отеля можно дойти пешком за 30мин только если у вас один рюкзак. Между отелем и автобусным терминалом очень редко ходит местный автобус. Зато утром, после завтрака, из отеля до Курокава идет бесплатный шатл.

This stay at Ryokan Sanga is faultless, from service, to food, hot springs to everything, it’s so thoughtfully set up and delivered. It’s not a luxury place but our stay there is well beyond luxury. Love it so much and have no hesitation to recommend it. Worth all the travel to meet the nice people in this wonderland of onset.

I really liked the hot springs with high iron content in this ryokan: I had sore throat for about 3 weeks before the journey, but it recovered just after the first bath. We also liked that family baths are for free if they are vacant (in the evening there wasn't any problem). The staff is attentive, thank you very much. The food was delicious, and there was more than enough for a man. However, we would recommend choosing a Japanese-style breakfast, since frying eggs on a burner is not very convenient. Nevertheless, everything was delicious. As for the drinks for breakfast, there was only coffee from the coffee machine. But there is always green tea in the room (we had problems with the hot pot, so they brought us a thermos). The only thing we did not like was the heating. However, it is unlikely to do anything with it when it is minus 3 degrees outside at night. Without heating, it was very cold, the floor was cold. But the heating is very noisy, and it is difficult to find a temperature balance. We sweated a lot at night under the blankets, and since the shower is not in the room - it is in the onsen, it was inconvenient. Thanks God, we had spare pajamas with us. Overall, for this cost of accommodation we can give 5 points.

Hotel food seems not too innovative compared many newer ryokans. Room is very wet and moist throughout the night. Air con is placement is directly on top of bed, so it is either cold or too warm due to the moist.

よいお風呂、美味しいご飯。よい休暇を過ごすことができました。日の出が見られる場所を調べていただき、目一杯阿蘇観光を楽しむことができました。 2部制の夕食時の重なる時間帯はあまりに騒がしく、びっくりしましたが、早い時間の方が退席されてからはゆったりと食事ができました。カードキーが1枚だったので2枚いただけると、男湯、女湯から戻る際に便利だと思いました。

Impeccable Service From the moment we arrived, the hospitality at Takenokura Sansou was exceptional. The receptionist came out to the car park to welcome us personally and escorted us to the reception office. He and his colleague then helped unload our luggage and thoughtfully delivered everything to our room. The warmth extended well beyond the front desk. As we walked through the dining hall en route to our room, even the chef greeted us with a smile, which immediately made us feel genuinely welcomed. The staff took the time to explain all the room amenities in detail, including how to adjust the temperature of the private outdoor onsen. At the dining hall, the service team was consistently friendly and approachable, despite my limited Japanese. They served us with patience and sincerity—even when my son happily requested four servings of their heavenly dinner rolls. Upon checkout, the team came out again to bid us farewell. This was, without question, the best service we experienced throughout our 18-day journey across Kyushu. Facilities While some aspects of the room décor and appliances are dated, everything was immaculately clean. As someone particularly fussy about bedding, I can confidently say that Takenokura Sansou offers the best futon I have experienced since I began traveling to Japan in 1999. The quilt was fluffy and soft, while the futon was firm yet incredibly comfortable. I honestly wanted to stay longer just for the sleep. The private outdoor onsen was the highlight of our stay. The small garden was beautifully arranged, creating a serene and intimate atmosphere. The water temperature could be easily adjusted, and soaking while gazing up at the sky was pure enjoyment. The room layout was clearly well thought out, with the shower located just before the outdoor onsen and a door to keep out the cold—allowing you to warm up comfortably before stepping outside into the winter air. A small heater near the porch area by the toilet would be a welcome addition to make late-night visits more comfortable, but this is a very minor suggestion. Dining This was probably the best dinner we had during our time in Kyushu. Takenokura Sansou surprised us with a beautifully executed fusion-style, course-by-course kaiseki meal. Combined with cocktails and warm interactions with the charming and friendly oba-chan service staff, the entire dining experience embodied what I love most about Japan: excellent food, heartfelt service, and meticulous attention to detail. One moment stood out in particular. When my son asked—in English—whether he could have a fourth serving of the dinner roll, the chef unexpectedly emerged from the open kitchen and personally served him a freshly toasted roll with soft butter. We were genuinely delighted and deeply touched by this thoughtful gesture. Conclusion Everything about our stay at Takenokura Sansou was exceptional. My only regret is booking just one night. I will most certainly return if I visit the Mount Aso area again. Well done, Takenokura Sansou—you truly deserve this praise.

Nestled right next to the river, near the village center. Close to the main walking street and attractions. Traditional Ryokan with very good hospitality. Excellent outdoor onsen, with many smaller private onsen in the annex building. Cozy environment, a really good place to relax. The Kaiseki dinner was really good! The curated selections were great in taste, textures and varieties. Best night's sleep in our 7 day tour of Kyushu. Breakfast was good as well, followed by sightseeing around Kurokawa Onsen before checking out. Truly enjoyed our stay here, thanks to their staff. Great people, lovely place.
