"Let’s start with good things. There is little kitchen you can use. There is free tea. There are two showers and one toilet room near the former entrance. Washing machine is free. The place is opened 24 hours. Wifi is fine. The mat and pillow are comfy. English-friendly. Now, some bad things. It seems that the place knew much better days. Now, as many others, it became a home for those who work, not travel. It means it is still noisy after 22:00 in the dorm room. Guys can turn on the lights and leave them on. Locker doors slamming, etc. A few tenants did not care about clearing shower after them, same with the toilet slippers that are mandatory but tenants use the ordinary ones. If you are sensitive for this, consider choosing another place or at least a private room."

"The big plus for the apartment is the view of the volcano across the bay. It’s a short tram ride from the train station and an easy walk to the ferry across to Sakurajima. The owner doesn’t speak English, but it is very easy and quick to communicate via her daughter. The accommodation itself is well equipped - good to have a washing machine - but it is all very basic. For the price, we were happy with our stay."

"Very good hotel and we got a good deal to stay. The male staff from front desk explained to us on all the nitty gritty, in a typical Japanese polite way. Onsen is at 4 floors and it is typical Japanese Onsen. There are washing and drying facilities on the 4th floor which is budget friendly, where we wash our laundry. The hotel however is away from the town center which might be inconvenient for some travellers that wan to walk around."

"The room type was left to the discretion of the staff. It was in a different building from the entrance, and I was given the key to an apartment across the street. It felt like a renovated used apartment. The facilities in the room were very poor. There were only a few TV channels. You couldn't even watch BS. There was no phone to contact the lobby. There was a lot of noise from cars passing by the side of the building. There was no drain plug in the bathroom. The water temperature in the bath was low. The toilet door was locked and couldn't be used. The cheap wall clock made a loud noise. There was a high step at the entrance to the apartment, and I had to lift my suitcase. There were no photos of all the additional facilities on the search site. I was completely deceived."

"Traveling with family, I specifically booked a non-smoking room, even though the room description indicated it was a smoking room. I made sure to add a note requesting a non-smoking room because we have young children. However, upon check-in, I was told only smoking rooms were available due to the May Day holiday, and they couldn't accommodate our request. We had no choice but to check in. As soon as I opened the door, the smell of smoke was overwhelming. I immediately contacted Trip.com for assistance, but they said there were no non-smoking rooms available. They did offer to deodorize the room, but it would require us to vacate for three hours. We stayed for two nights, and we couldn't even close the windows to air it out. This is my first time in Japan being assigned a smoking room with no alternative or compensation. Very disappointed."
