It was a Japanese-style room, spacious enough for our family of three, with a private bathroom and a direct ocean view. The indoor hot spring at the hotel was excellent. It's also not far from Mount Omuro if you're driving, about a 30-minute ride."

KAWAZU BEACH HOUSE BLUE MOON
"The little bungalows are adorable and right on the beach. Do note that you will be walking to the restrooms and showers up some stairs so be prepared. Restrooms were clean as well as cabin, community kitchen, and outdoor dining area. We really enjoyed reading and working, yes there is WiFi, with the cool breeze and gorgeous view from the community dining area. You can rent a grill and the attendant bring it out and set it up, though people were grilling down by bungalows also. Big heads up: there are lots of stairs from parking lot across the street to bottom of the property near beach. There is a trolley to assist with the load for part of the way. We swam, walked the beach, and loved the quiet resort. Note: it says no children at property but there were several families with well-behaved kids. Recommend Kawazu Blue!"

"We stayed for one night and two days. We were very satisfied with the all-you-can-eat dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed everything from fish and meat to dessert. The hotel staff were also very helpful. Depending on the season, there were insects flying around in the open-air bath in the room at night. Morning baths are the best. However, it is completely visible from the outside (parking lot, etc.). There are places to enjoy such as "Animal Kingdom" and "Izu Granpal Park" within a short drive from the hotel, so I would recommend traveling by car."

An elderly aunt kneels down to clean the floor very seriously every morning. She is very attentive! I feel embarrassed to drag the suitcase. I don’t like the food of the one-night-two-meals hotel, but they prepare a lot of things for us every day and feel embarrassed to waste them! There is Chinese service at the front desk, this 👍"

"The sea view is unbeatable, and it's a 5-6 minute walk from the station. They offer a shuttle service to the station upon checkout, by appointment. A centipede ran into my room... but they changed my room when I requested it, which was fine. I stayed for three days, and the breakfast was decent. The service was typical Japanese, meaning you couldn't really find any fault with it. The biggest surprise was on the day of checkout: there was a huge typhoon in Izu, all trains were stopped. While we were feeling helpless at the station, a hotel front desk staff member arrived! They told us that because we had previously booked a shuttle, they were taking us to the larger Izu-Kogen station! I was so touched! That's truly Japanese service, solving an urgent problem! Overall, it was really good!"

"There is no bathroom in the room. You need to go to the big bath. The hotel has a shuttle bus, but you need to book it. Otherwise, it is a steep slope and you will have to walk a long way. You need to change into slippers when entering and leaving the hotel, which is quite troublesome. The hot water from the tap is limited and you have to boil it when you run out."

"Our family of four stayed at Hotel Katara in Shizuoka ☺︎ We were a little worried because we have two children, but the staff were very kind and we were able to relax. The room was spacious and clean, and the ocean view was amazing ✨ The hot springs had a wide variety of baths, which the whole family could enjoy. In particular, the children's pool and playground were excellent and the kids had a blast! The buffet style meals had a wide variety of dishes, and both adults and children were very satisfied. It is close to the sea and tourist attractions, making it the perfect hotel for a family trip 🌊 We would definitely like to stay there again!"

"Guest review (Casa della Nonna/Villa Ajito) While staying at Casa della Nonna, my husband was bitten by a centipede in the bathroom. Shortly after getting rid of the bite, he felt a sharp pain. He contacted the hospital and received first aid and over-the-counter medication. Fortunately, the symptoms were mild, but he was unable to move for a while. Then, when he went to bed, another centipede appeared on the bed in our bedroom. We tried using insecticide, but it didn't kill it, and we spent a sleepless night anxiously. The next day, we notified the staff and were told we could be transferred to another facility, Villa Ajito. We were relieved, but then we discovered another centipede stuck to the tray of towels that came with our welcome drinks in the refrigerator. It's terrifying to think what might have happened if it had been used to wipe our face. We contacted the staff, who, after checking the scene, offered a simple apology, but no further explanation or action was provided, leaving us with many questions. Considering the risk of pests, I felt a strong sense of distrust as to whether this service was worth the high accommodation fee, even though sufficient inspections and countermeasures were required. The facility itself is well designed and has a private feel, which I think is wonderful. However, I am very disappointed that the current management and operation system does not allow me to stay with peace of mind."

"The air conditioning unit was moldy. My throat started hurting on the first afternoon of my stay, and I felt better after moving to a different place. The private hot spring costs extra. The AC in the room was cut off at 10 AM, and only the lobby had air conditioning. It was sweltering hot in the room. The room's cleanliness was also pretty subpar. However, the sea view was decent."

"It was a very unique experience. The family-run hotel had tatami rooms, a hot spring, and all the amenities you could need. It was quite clean, and the service was warm and friendly; they even offered pick-up and drop-off service from the station. Although I hadn't booked dinner in advance, the hotel still prepared a delicious meal for me. The location was a bit out of the way, but the lake view from the window was a major plus. Perhaps because it wasn't peak tourist season, there were fewer tourists and fewer shops open in the area."

We stayed for three days, and the meals were different each day, so we never got tired of them. When we left after breakfast during our stay, the hotel even prepared snacks for us to eat on the go, which meant we didn't need to eat out additionally. Both breakfast and dinner were served in our room. Every day when we returned to our room, the open-air onsen bath was already filled with fresh hot water, so we could shower and soak right away."

"I absolutely have to give this a full five stars! 💯 The service was impeccable, the place was incredibly clean, and the rooms had private onsen (hot spring baths). The food was delicious! The flambéed whelk was amazing, as was the lobster sashimi and the golden snapper with its firm, meaty flesh. A friendly, chubby young man provided excellent service and chatted with me constantly. Although it's a family-run business, they were very attentive! They even drove me to the JR station the next day. You can enter any of the six private onsen if they're empty. My mom and I soaked in a large one; the onsen was incredibly smooth and luxurious, leaving our skin feeling wonderful. Note that the onsen is 100 degrees Celsius, so you'll need to adjust the temperature with cold water."
