"This is definitely one of my favorite hotels! The exterior has a very European feel, but the rooms are distinctly Japanese, as you can see from the photos. Honestly, one room could easily fit ten people, though it felt a bit wasteful for just me. 😄 The hotel's main onsen is fantastic, especially the outdoor bath – so relaxing with a wonderful view. The service here is exceptional. There are different activities scheduled throughout the day, like complimentary afternoon tea, snacks, and juice, and even a nightcap in the evening. The breakfast is also excellent. Overall, it's a perfect resort hotel where you could easily spend a couple of days. Highly recommended!"

"The little bungalows are adorable and right on the beach. Do note that you will be walking to the restrooms and showers up some stairs so be prepared. Restrooms were clean as well as cabin, community kitchen, and outdoor dining area. We really enjoyed reading and working, yes there is WiFi, with the cool breeze and gorgeous view from the community dining area. You can rent a grill and the attendant bring it out and set it up, though people were grilling down by bungalows also. Big heads up: there are lots of stairs from parking lot across the street to bottom of the property near beach. There is a trolley to assist with the load for part of the way. We swam, walked the beach, and loved the quiet resort. Note: it says no children at property but there were several families with well-behaved kids. Recommend Kawazu Blue!"

"We stayed for one night and two days. We were very satisfied with the all-you-can-eat dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed everything from fish and meat to dessert. The hotel staff were also very helpful. Depending on the season, there were insects flying around in the open-air bath in the room at night. Morning baths are the best. However, it is completely visible from the outside (parking lot, etc.). There are places to enjoy such as "Animal Kingdom" and "Izu Granpal Park" within a short drive from the hotel, so I would recommend traveling by car."

It is almost impossible to go by foot. However, I must say the hotel staff has always tried their best to cater your needs, which I appreicate very much."

"Kanto-Izu Trip in September 2025~ For this Izu trip, we stayed at Atagawakan. After exiting JR Izu-Atagawa Station, I was about to walk to the hotel with my luggage when I saw Atagawakan's shuttle bus pulling up right outside, so I hopped right on. Over the next few days, I noticed the shuttle runs very frequently – I wonder if it's timed with the JR train schedule? It's not actually a long walk, but there are some inclines and declines, which can be a bit tiring. The front desk at Atagawakan always has staff who speak Chinese, making communication very convenient. The overall environment is also excellent, grand and tidy. Although it has the classic layout of an older onsen hotel, it's quite comfortable and cozy. The room was spacious enough, with a balcony directly overlooking the ocean and offering sunrise views. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves at night, I slept wonderfully. I've had a few experiences with Japanese-style rooms in onsen hotels before, and they were usually quite average, and I didn't sleep well. So I was surprised that here, even with the sound of the waves and direct sunlight from the sunrise early in the morning, neither affected my sleep. The hot springs are on the 4th floor. There aren't many baths, but there are both indoor and outdoor options. I went late, so I practically had the whole place to myself every day, which was very comfortable. There are a few restaurants near the hotel, not a huge selection, but the ones I tried had excellent ingredients, and I was very satisfied with all of them. They are definitely worth trying."

"The staff were all very welcoming. The only minor drawback was that the pool was only open from 10 AM to 4 PM. There are both indoor and outdoor hot springs. The Imai-hama station is just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, but there's nothing else around. You'll find supermarkets and restaurants in Kawazu, the next station over. The hotel boasts a prime beachfront location with a sandy beach where you can swim in the ocean. Breakfast was incredibly rich and varied, though it did get crowded during peak hours. The rooms are very spacious, perfect for family trips."

"This is the only large onsen hotel in Matsuzaki, Izu. The decor is rather old, and all rooms have balconies facing the sea. Cleanliness is average; there's a lot of dust, especially around the air conditioning vents, which are covered in dust and can't be turned on. The buffet has a limited selection and average quality, but it offers unlimited drinks, including beer, sake, shochu, and wine, which is quite rare. The large public bath is indoors and not very big; there's no outdoor onsen. There's a ping-pong and snooker area on the rooftop."

"The hotel is undergoing renovations and has been renamed, hence the current discounts. Each room has a private onsen (hot spring bath). There is parking available. The public bath floor has a ping-pong room and free massage chairs. The rooms are clean, but not the corner rooms shown in the pictures. There's no window behind the bed, but there is a long bathtub as shown in the pictures. A kimono is provided upon check-in. The room also has a separate set of pajamas and a bathrobe. The meal includes two meals. The Australian Wagyu beef at the dinner buffet was good, but the sukiyaki beef was of sukiyaki quality, which was a bit of a shame. The ramen buffet was good, the sashimi and salad bar were above average, and the desserts and fried food were just okay. The spring strawberry festival was a bit of a letdown, with only strawberry roll cake, strawberry cheesecake, and ice cream (the cheesecake ice cream was delicious). Breakfast was normal to above average, tasty but don't expect too much. The scrambled eggs were good, and I unexpectedly discovered that the Momoya garlic chili oil was delicious—mildly spicy but fragrant. I regret not buying a few bottles in Japan! The official website has a Chinese description."
