Atagawa Onsen Blue Ocean ★★★★
"The room was very spacious, but there was a bit of dust, so the cleaning wasn't very thorough. Overall, it was still pretty good. The train station is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel, so if you're not too tired, it's a nice, quiet stroll. If you're tired, you can contact the hotel for a pick-up/drop-off."
Izu Imaihama Tokyu Hotel ★★★★
"This hotel stay was absolutely flawless. From the attentive service to the incredibly comfortable hot spring experience, everything was unforgettable. The stunning sea-facing views, coupled with the exquisite and delicious breakfast in the restaurant, made every moment pure enjoyment 🌊"
Hokkawa Onsen Hotel ★★★★
"Facilities: Only 300m from Irozaki hot spring, facing the sea. They have staff who speak Chinese, and there's a shuttle bus to Kitagawa Station at fixed times. Experience: The beautiful Izu Station sign says that if you make a wish under the moonlight on a full moon night, it will come true. How touching! And you can make a wish at the rooftop open-air hot spring at night. Bonus: There's a self-service drink machine on the 2nd floor, good for when you're thirsty. Summary: The most beautiful part of Japan is its countryside. There isn't even a 7-Eleven here, just a small Mola mola (sunfish) shop where the grandma and grandpa only accept cash. You can fish by the shore, and on a clear day, the sea is crystal clear and icy cold. Paired with the warm water of Irozaki hot springs, it makes you forget about time. At night, the moonlight spreads across the sea like a shimmering blanket. Make a wish on the full moon; beauty transcends nationality. I just wish for world peace."
Inatoriso ★★★
"The service, room, breakfast, and dinner were all pretty mediocre. Nothing really stood out. The private onsen with an ocean view was okay, but 50 minutes felt a bit rushed."
Kawazu Nanadaru Onsen Otsukaso ★★★
"This inn has an atmosphere reminiscent of Yasunari Kawabata's "The Izu Dancer," offering a healing space surrounded by the comforting sounds of wood, flowing water, fresh mountain air, and the enchanting and beautiful sound of a waterfall. The food and hot springs are also superb."
Isoaruki No Yuyado Ushiogumo - 6 Years or Older ★★★★
"Fantastic ryokan in Kawazu with only 7 rooms. Located by the beach, although there is a road in-between. Weren't bothered by traffic noise at night though. Service is top-notch and the food at dinner is amazing and varied. Very fresh seafood with the nightly sashimi platter a highlight. Breakfast is western style and a bit limited though compared with the dinner, but still delicious. Would definitely stay here again."
Hotel Shinayoshi ★★★
"This hotel is frequented by many elderly Japanese guests. Although it's a bit old, the service is excellent. It's not crowded with Chinese tourists. The grandfather at the front desk was very welcoming, carrying our suitcases and confirming our room details. All the staff were very friendly. The room, though old, was very clean, which my mother loved. She wanted to stay longer. For some reason, there were very few Chinese tourists, making it very quiet. The outdoor bath was also very clean and uncrowded, allowing us to enjoy the open-air hot spring all to ourselves! The meals were plentiful, and it was my first time experiencing a two-meal-per-night stay – a truly pleasant experience!"
Dogashima Land Hopia ★★
"The location was lovely. (best) I cannot recommend anything else. I was charged separately for the sheets. I was also concerned about the smell in the room."
Isaribi ★★★★
"The room was new, spacious, and bright, with an open-air onsen bath. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. We stayed for three days, and the meals were different each day, so we never got tired of them. When we left after breakfast during our stay, the hotel even prepared snacks for us to eat on the go, which meant we didn't need to eat out additionally. Both breakfast and dinner were served in our room. Every day when we returned to our room, the open-air onsen bath was already filled with fresh hot water, so we could shower and soak right away."

Ryokan Hanareya Ishidaya
"It's about a 15-minute walk from Kawazu Station. The garden is beautiful, and the outdoor communal onsen is lovely. Each room is a standalone cabin with its own outdoor private hot spring and an indoor onsen. However, the one we were assigned was built entirely with wooden planks, making it look very old and run-down, and it offered no insulation whatsoever. In mid-May, with the afternoon sun beating down from the west, the entire room felt like a sauna. There was a very old, vintage window air conditioner that we were afraid to turn on. This room would be unbearable in both summer and winter. There was also a large spider in the bathroom. The complimentary Japanese breakfast was simple but a pleasant surprise."
Nishiizu Matsuzaki Itoen Hotel
"There are two single beds, and the Japanese-Western room is too small for four people."
Atagawa Ocean Resort
"Had a fantastic stay! The hotel offers sea views, and while the breakfast selection wasn't huge, it was all delicious. Dinner even included seafood sashimi!"
Inatori Akao Hotel
"The room was spacious and comfortable, and the hot spring was very relaxing. The view from the room window was also beautiful. I booked a plan that included breakfast, and the breakfast was very varied and delicious."
Izu Hotel Resort & Spa
"We had an amazing time! The property was absolutely beautiful, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We needed to be out to catch a train on a day when it was torrential rain. The had one of the staff drive us to the station that was further away since the local one closed. I could not have asked for more care or accommodation for us."
Robatakan
"The Japanese-style room has a good overall feeling and requires driving to reach it. There are no bathing facilities in the room, but there are public bathrooms. The lady boss has a good service attitude and the Japanese breakfast is quite refined."
Hotel Shikino Kura
"Guest review (Casa della Nonna/Villa Ajito) While staying at Casa della Nonna, my husband was bitten by a centipede in the bathroom. Shortly after getting rid of the bite, he felt a sharp pain. He contacted the hospital and received first aid and over-the-counter medication. Fortunately, the symptoms were mild, but he was unable to move for a while. Then, when he went to bed, another centipede appeared on the bed in our bedroom. We tried using insecticide, but it didn't kill it, and we spent a sleepless night anxiously. The next day, we notified the staff and were told we could be transferred to another facility, Villa Ajito. We were relieved, but then we discovered another centipede stuck to the tray of towels that came with our welcome drinks in the refrigerator. It's terrifying to think what might have happened if it had been used to wipe our face. We contacted the staff, who, after checking the scene, offered a simple apology, but no further explanation or action was provided, leaving us with many questions. Considering the risk of pests, I felt a strong sense of distrust as to whether this service was worth the high accommodation fee, even though sufficient inspections and countermeasures were required. The facility itself is well designed and has a private feel, which I think is wonderful. However, I am very disappointed that the current management and operation system does not allow me to stay with peace of mind."
Shizentenyu
"The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. They even defrosted my car when I left, which was a great touch."
Atagawakan
"The air conditioning unit was moldy. My throat started hurting on the first afternoon of my stay, and I felt better after moving to a different place. The private hot spring costs extra. The AC in the room was cut off at 10 AM, and only the lobby had air conditioning. It was sweltering hot in the room. The room's cleanliness was also pretty subpar. However, the sea view was decent."
HOTEL & RESORT IZUNONE
"A true gem! The retro vibe of the hotel gave it a unique and inviting character, and the food? Simply phenomenal. It’s rare to find a place that excels in both atmosphere and cuisine — this one nails it."
Fukumatsuso
"To escape the crowds, we spontaneously booked a hotel in Higashiizu-cho, and the experience far exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the traditional Japanese-style accommodation with tatami mats. The elderly gentleman and the young lady working at the hotel were incredibly warm, polite, and charming, and made a great effort to communicate with us using simple English. The dinner dishes served as part of the half-board plan were different each day; we were especially touched when the menu for the second night's dinner was even handwritten in Chinese, showing incredible thoughtfulness. Beyond that, the personal care and attention were remarkable. When they noticed I had sunburn, they proactively brought me an ice pack. Upon check-out, we forgot our jackets, and they even drove specifically to the train station to wait for us at the entrance. If I ever return to Izu, I would absolutely love to stay here again!"
Kissho Caren
"The service was very good, the dinner and breakfast were delicious. The tatami was also very comfortable to sleep on."
Gyokusui -Adult Only-
"The environment is very good, very Japanese. The hot springs are particularly good. It is a great experience to feel the Japanese countryside in the mountains. I will come again next time"
Livemax Resort Izu Okawa
"We stayed for one night and two days. We were very satisfied with the all-you-can-eat dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed everything from fish and meat to dessert. The hotel staff were also very helpful. Depending on the season, there were insects flying around in the open-air bath in the room at night. Morning baths are the best. However, it is completely visible from the outside (parking lot, etc.). There are places to enjoy such as "Animal Kingdom" and "Izu Granpal Park" within a short drive from the hotel, so I would recommend traveling by car."
Hiina
"There is a shuttle bus to Atagawa Station. The hotel will contact you via email one day in advance. If you're going on your own, you can take the bus to Katase-Shirata, which is relatively easy to walk from and not far away. The hotel staff's English is limited, allowing only basic communication. More complex questions are handled using a translator. Breakfast and shuttle bus times for the next day are confirmed upon check-in, and then again each day at breakfast. The hotel provides facial cleanser, makeup remover, toner, lotion, toothbrush, and toothpaste. I only found facial cleanser in the women-only open-air bath, where individually packaged samples were also available. I recommend paying extra for a sea-view room. While the Japanese-style rooms also have a sea view, it's on the side and obstructed by a roof. I wish the dinner time and the morning bath closing time could be later. If you finish dinner at 6:40 PM and want to go to the bath again, it's already dark. The bath closes at 9:00 AM, so you need to get up very early to use it again. There are stairs in the hotel, so those with mobility issues should not book this room."
