"Just a 2-minute walk from JR station, located right on the shopping street with plenty of great food and shops nearby. The room was clean, and the service was warm and welcoming. They even have shared laundry machines, a dryer, microwave, and a fridge, which was a very thoughtful touch. Breakfast was simple, just milk and bread, but it tasted good. It would be even better if there were more options."

"The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the long stretched beach and beautiful pine forest and features a spacious onsen area. The varied breakfast is served in the restaurant with a fantastic panoramic view. Complimentary drinks and snacks are also available in the hotel lounge. The room itself had a beautiful sea view. Unfortunately, the rooms are a bit dated, but the hotel's overall good service makes up for this."
Karatsu Daiichi Hotel Riviere ★★★
"If you speak English well, it will be very convenient, as there are many English instructions. However, the front desk staff's English is generally not good, and check-in is done via self-service in English. If you mind, you can ask them. The day before, I stayed at the Mercure across the street, but the sea view wasn't as good as this one's river view (including Karatsu Castle view), which is very beautiful. There's also a light show at night, and there's a small public bath on the first floor—so relaxing! Excellent value for money! The room was cozy and had everything you needed. Interestingly, the refrigerator was also self-service (English instructions included). I only stayed one night, so I didn't have to worry about room cleaning. It seems this hotel cleans every three days, and you can leave your trash in the hallway, which is common in many Japanese hotels. There are fast food restaurants nearby, and the JR station is within walking distance. The river is right outside, a great place for a stroll. The hotel information mentions (paid) bicycle rentals, but I didn't inquire about the details. There are many self-service items in the lobby, and there are English signs indicating free coffee in the morning, but I didn't take advantage of it because I checked out early."

"Book when the room price is lower, the price/performance ratio is super high. The store is directly facing the seaside, with beautiful sea views, and is also close to the historical windbreak pine forest of Niji no Matsubara. The interior decoration is simple and tidy. The public activity area can be used for cooking, laundry, and clothes drying rods. The waiters are very friendly. A small hotel that is comfortable to stay in all the time."

"2024.03.Mon / Chinzei Town National Guest House, Hatomasaki (Trip to Northern Kyushu) [Accommodation fee] 29,600 yen/2 people ・Live squid meal ・Western-style twin room [Parking] Free [Impressions] The national guest house, close to the tip of Hatomasaki, was located on a hilltop where the wind and rain were strong. Unfortunately, due to the rain, we gave up on walking to Hatomasaki. The national guest house is a single-story building with 11 rooms. The overall layout is spacious, giving the impression of being spacious. In addition to the building, there are five bungalows. We ate at the restaurant. Since we ordered the live squid meal course, we enjoyed the squid to the fullest! First, we had sashimi, and then we had the tentacles fried in tempura, which was also delicious! There is an indoor bath and a sauna. Since the capacity is small, we were able to relax. (The previous day's Yukai Resort was very different) You can see the ocean from the bath in your room. (I didn't use it) On the way back, I was given a discount coupon (1,000 yen off) for the next time. It was a beautiful and relaxing public lodging facility. "The bedroom is very spacious and comfortable. Everything is provided: a yukata robe, tea and snacks, iced water, a refrigerator, and a hot water kettle. There are both outdoor and indoor onsen (hot springs). There's also a foot massager, facial soap, face cream, body lotion, and hair serum. Breakfast and dinner are served in a private kaiseki style room. Dinner includes fresh local squid."

"Quiet and chill place to stay with if you need a very relaxed break. Closed to the seashore and castle which is about just 5 mins walk. Great food with careful and hearty preparation, both dinner and breakfast, impressive to eat in a 2nd floor room with sea view and super spacious. Small hot bath but super clean and ordered, very few visitors so I enjoy it alone. Highly recommended."

"The front desk staff didn't speak English. I had ordered a BBQ dinner, but when I checked in, they said they wouldn't provide it and that we should go to the supermarket to buy ingredients and come back. Luckily, I found that food had been prepared in the room, but the staff didn't know the details. I showed him the printed Japanese order, but he still said they didn't have it. It was already very late, and I had been driving all day. This misunderstanding was really upsetting!"

"September 13, 2024: The weather was fine! We stayed at Seiriki, a seaside inn facing Yobuko Port in Karatsu City. On the day of our stay, we checked in early after sightseeing in Karatsu and Yobuko. After checking in, we took a bath to wash off the sweat and spent the time relaxing in our room until dinner. Dinner was served in our room, and we had so much seafood we couldn't finish it all. We had a variety of sashimi, including spiny lobster, abalone, turban shells, sea bream, whale and squid sashimi, as well as boiled fish heads and steamed dishes, and we were full to the brim! Thank you for the meal. We had breakfast in the dining area. Next time, we'll plan to try Karatsu Q mackerel."
