We stayed at Hillside for 6 nights and it was an amazing experience. Being out of season, 4 of those nights we were the only people staying which made it feel like our own exclusive and private paradise. Holgar, Aloun and Oscar made our stay so comfortable and relaxing - it was like a home away from home. Many evenings we would sit at the bar with them chatting, learning about their story, the local area and what’s generally happening across the country. It was like being with friends. The food was superb and the choice plentiful. Before we got to Hillside we were in Thailand where our son got very unwell and lost a fair bit of weight. He ate like a horse at Hillside so thankfully, by the end of our stay he had regained full strength. To say the setting is like paradise is not an exaggeration. You’re totally surrounded by nature - it’s 360 degree jungle and mountains. In fact, it’s all so pure that it doesn’t look real. Everything was well maintained and spotlessly clean. We did a few excursions while we were there. We went to Nahm Dong Park which is a 15 minute walk from Hillside. We didn’t have enough Lao Kip with us so Holgar settled our bill from the park and we paid him. Holgar also arranged for us to have a guide take us out for a day to Kuang Si Falls and a few other places. One evening, Oscar (Holgar and Aloun’s 10yr old son) and Buddy (their aging dog) took us for hike up to a viewpoint and then back through a village. All of these are great little touches that really added to our stay. Overall, we can’t fault anything and we are extremely grateful to Holgar, Aloun and Oscar for making us feel so welcome and looking after us impeccably well. We can wholeheartedly recommend staying at Hillside.

After asking around in the past, I found that room rates in Luang Prabang are generally on the expensive side (compared to local prices). Although this hotel is not worth RMB 300 in China, considering the local conditions in Laos, it is considered to be in good condition, clean and tidy, with complete facilities (air conditioning). Be sure to remember your boss’s phone number or add him on WeChat! Because it is a B&B, there is no one at the front desk at night, so you have to contact the owner directly.

All is moderate. Non smoking room at Riverside was first initiation OK, but at 05:00 a.m. the reception came loudly smoking local people where the smoke passed through the room. Breakfast was moderately bad taste and quantity. The receptionist said the train was sold for the next day, but it could be booked in 1 of the tour offices in Luang Prabang.

Wisdom Hotel (201) 3 days stay. Centrally located, and has two buildings. Check-in took longer, and was not clear how & what. Reception looks messy and seems to be unprepared. Finally spacious room with a fine bed, kind of balcony present. Staff is friendly but does not speak English. Several restaurants and shops within walking distance. Many temples nearby, and this is the ideal place to experience the morning alm. Rooms are quietly located. Bicycles available. I would definitely return here!

The quadruple room we booked was actually on the entire first floor. Except for the lack of lighting in the bathroom, everything else was great. The location of the B&B is also very good, in a small alley next to the Mekong River, very quiet. It's right next to the Grand Palace, just a three-minute walk away. There is a night market on the street in front of the Grand Palace. Opposite the entrance of the Grand Palace is the entrance to Puxi Mountain. Maifo Temple next to the Grand Palace has alms from 5:30 to 6 o'clock in the morning. There is also a morning market to visit in the morning. It’s very convenient to go anywhere. The only drawback is that there are people raising chickens next to us, and the roosters will crow in the morning, but we have a good sleep and will not be disturbed by these.

It was comfortable with a calm atmosphere because it was conveniently located and away from the main street. I stayed in another area, but I felt that this area had few mosquitoes. We requested and got it through the second floor of the corner room of the annex, but the terrace here was comfortable, and it was good to slow down while watching the life scenery of the neighborhood in one hand at noon. In the morning, you can also visit the bowl from this terrace. The size of the room with luxurious use of trees and stones is sufficient. I think it's only this room, but there is no partition in the shower room, and I use it to make sure that the water doesn't jump to take a bath. It may be for couples or accustomed couples. The hot water was too hot and came out firmly so difficult to adjust. Staff is also English OK. polite and friendly. Breakfast is American style, not buffet. He gave me a naive but polite service. The top resorts should arrange free yoga classes at least twice a week, which I hope can be improved
