"We specifically detoured to Mangya Emerald Lake during our Qinghai-Gansu loop, and even though it was a long drive, it was absolutely worth it. It's a stunning salt lake. We did the route in reverse, starting from Dunhuang to Mangya. The hotel was very clean, comparable to a large chain hotel, and quite comfortable. The only downside, which seems to be a common issue, is the poor soundproofing – it gets noisy when people talk in the hallway. We unfortunately had a group making noise past midnight. Overall, the hotel is still good. There's a local market nearby where you can find food, drinks, and fruits, which was perfect for our dinner and breakfast."

A major red flag is the hotel's toothbrush supplier; they reuse toothbrushes. When I opened a pack, the toothpaste tubes had the ends cut off, and the tubes were dried and hard – it was disgusting."
