"I stayed at the hotel in N.Shields for two nights and paid in advance for "Ultimate Wi Fi" for two days. At midnight on the second night, -i.e 28 hours after i'd activated it, it logged me out and asked me to pay again. There was a "helpline" which of course went unanswered so i had no choice to pay again. Worth knowing- if you are staying for two days you'll need to pay for THREE days of WiFi. Annoying and a bit of a rip off. The receptionist as i checked out said "they should have sent you another code"- well they didn't- and while i think of it, the extra fiver was for one device ONLY. Also... When i checked in at 1.30 i was asked if i had paid in advance for an "early check in" (i.e before 3.00 p.m). I hadn't so i said if the room isn't ready can i just leave my bags as I had to go to a function. The receptionist (who was very nice) phonef the cleaner to find out if my room was ready..."yes" they said. "that's good news" i said, "that'll be 15 pounds please" said the receptionist! The room was ready anyway and if i wanted to go up an hour and a half earlier they wanted extra. I wouldn't mind if the hotel was cheap and, like Ryanair, they just try to get you to pay extras to get more out of you, but this was 80 quid a night. The hotel was clean, tidy and quiet but beware of the small print."

"The staff on reception were fantastic and were very helpful and welcoming, even offering to help carry our luggage as my husband is in a wheelchair. The accessible room was as expected though an improvement might be to make sure that light switches are at the level of bedside table rather than having to stretch up. A central light would be useful too when more light is needed. Our experience in the restaurant was very disappointing. My husband’s meal was cold and a tomato which should have been grilled was raw. My meal was a Thai GREEN curry with added chicken. The chicken was cold, a whole RED chilli had been thickly sliced and added to the curry complete with seeds. I like spicy food but usually the chilli is finely sliced into small pieces so the flavour can be spread throughout the whole meal rather that in a few very hot mouthfuls. We complained to the waiter when he asked if everything was ok with our meals but not only did he not comment, he simply walked away. Clearly the expectation was that customers will always be positive. We also complained to the manager when we left and he simply said ‘sorry’ but there was no attempt to put things right or to placate us. I can only conclude that the person in the kitchen was not up to speed with what is required and more training would be helpful. We are returning customers and have eaten in the restaurant many times. Unless the standard improves we would probably not eat there again.Profits must be good if you can afford to ignore customers feedback."

"Exceptional communication from the owner who couldn’t have been more helpful from the day I made my booking. Stayed here over Xmas and new year and the addition of the Xmas tree was a great touch. The apartments are in a phenomenal location with amazing views. I found it to be warm, extremely comfortable and perfectly set up and being a telly addict really appreciated the huge smart TV. All in all an excellent stay for a price point you’d expect to being far more for. If you’re lucky enough to be visiting this stunning part of the country and want amazing views and fantastic value for money then you won’t go wrong staying there"
