"Lovely hotel in an idyllic setting. The character of this building has been beautifully preserved and our room was spacious overlooking the gardens with a huge bathroom. The bed was really comfortable. Tea, coffee and water was replenished daily. This hotel is all about the food. It really is delicious with ingredients sourced locally or grown in the garden. Nothing is wasted. We had booked a package including meals and our meal at the chef’s table was fabulous and a really interesting experience. All the staff are great. I would definitely recommend this hotel."

"Booked a table for friends visiting and usually it’s been good however today was shocking! Seated at a table in the middle of a walkway , no one came to serve. Then we were asked if we wanted water but nothing arrived. Another group walked in and were given water immediately. We were sat for 10 further mins , being ignored, we had to ask the waiter if we could order some food to which we were told they were not taking any more food orders for now as the kitchen had too many tickets backed up. Beware the menu seemed to have been super increased in their prices with a steak costing 42.00!!! Even a simple duck dish was 32.00! It has never been that expensive and sadly monopolising the bank holiday trade. As a local that wishes to support local businesses I am so disappointed that you have to pay 50 non returnable deposit just to book a table for a time and they cannot serve you, and you cannot order food! What a horrible experience and a total waste of money and fuel!"

"VE day celabrations & the place was buzzing. Lovely atmosphere. The room had a 4 poster which was very comfortable and a good view of Cosden Hill reminding me of the climb awaiting in the morning. The meal was superb and the service attentive. The staff well attired in WW2 uniforms was a great touch."
