"Capsule hotel in central Onomichi. Very new, clean, and spacious. Just above bike rental and next to train station. Capsules do not close, there is just a blind you pull down which means some light can get through. BUT the biggest problem we had was the complete lack of air conditioning in the pods, there is a fan button but it does nothing. By 2/3am it was so boiling hot I couldn’t sleep. For a brand new hotel I expect better!! Communication with main desk was sometimes difficult. Showers and toilets were nice at least. Free tea/ coffee. Also… tbankfully this didn’t affect us but if you have a multi- day booking you have to leave the pods/showes/ toilets from 10am-3pm every day!!"

"A lovely clean hotel , but due to it being directly at the train station, could hear constant noise from the trains all night. And yes they do run all night. It was a shame as it was a nice clean hotel but the sleep deprivation spoilt it for us"

"This is a great little boutique hotel - I think there are only 16 rooms. Our room (as I think all the rooms do) has a great view overlooking the Omonichi channel. The room itself was smallish (but normal by Japanese standards) in a modern western style and spotlessly clean. The staff here were amazing, they recommended (and booked for us) a great local restaurant and were super friendly and helpful. The location is great, just a short walk from Onomichi station and a short stroll from Onomichi Hondori shopping arcade. If you don't want to go out, enjoy a beer at the lobby bar which again has an outlook right onto the channel. There is no restaurant in the hotel but for breakfast try the bakery in Hondori St that opens at 7:30am (I think) and there is great espresso coffee just a few doors up. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again."

"Super satisfied! Far exceeded expectations! The whole building is bigger than it looks in the photos! There is a Japanese garden in the building! Super beautiful! The location requires a boat or a bike. If you have luggage, don't worry about taking the boat. It is also very convenient. The hotel is right after you get off the boat! The service is particularly good! Enthusiastic! The food is really great! The pillows are really hard! If you pass by nearby, I really recommend you to experience it! We arrived late and there were no bicycles to rent, so the owner lent us his! He was afraid that we would take the wrong boat and chased us out to help us find the way! Great!!!"

"The hotel is located halfway up the mountain, below Qianguang Temple. The view from the room is really beautiful and it is worth walking up! It is actually about 7 minutes away from the shopping street, but because it is uphill and downhill, it will be a little more tiring than a flat road. Be careful not to bring too much luggage. The coffee on the first floor of the hotel is delicious and the breakfast is delicious! The staff explained very clearly. I would like to come again next time."

"The servicev of this hotel is unspeakable. I was there with a friend for the Shimanami Kaido, but Got a nerve trapped and had to rest. I booked a single Room for a night but later decided I needed 2 nights for recovery. I had to change Room from a double to a single Room - and the reception made it clear to me that I had booked for 3 nights 1 + 2 nights - not alterer the original booking from 1 to 2 nights. I made it clear i Only needed 2 nights as my friend returned. The hotel Said itcwould be ok - but when I looked at my bank account 3 nights were charged. When I mentioned that to the reception they Said they did not do a refund - but I would rater have used my Room for a pieceful night of sleep and so would my friend than being ripped of by a greedy hotel."

"Probably the best hostel I've ever stayed at. It is almost looks like a spaceship. Everything is incredibly modern and clean, from the capsule beds to the toilets and showers. They have a washing machine (300¥) and a dryer (100¥). Coffee, water and Macha tea are free. They give towels and a bathrobe to use for free. As well as many other toilet products (including a razor!). If you're going to Onomichi to rent a bike, then the location can't be better. It's literally in the same building as the bike rental shop and 3 minutes away from Onomichi station on foot. Deserves a 10/10 rating."

"El Mochilero is a five star hostel, it is clean, there is more than ample space in the rooms, each guest has access to her /his own locker with it's own key where you will find several towels folded in a the manner of five star hotels in a very cute basket, there are also earplugs in each basket. The room I was staying in had four beds and there are two other rooms on the second floor. Very clean bathrooms with a bathtub. But what sets El Mochilero apart from other hostels is that it is family owned by a warm, caring and hospitable family.I felt right at home with Senora Carolina, su mother and her brother Percy.I was hosted as a member of the family and this will stay with me. There is a hearty breakfast served in the morning with orange juice and coffee that will sustain you through the day. I cannot thank enough this family for the way I have been hosted. And I hope to see them again."
