"Stayed for 3 nights from October 11th. This was my second visit since March. The sulfur spring is top-quality and alkaline with a pH of 8.7. My favorite is the "Tama-no-yu" on the second floor. The room was a Japanese-Western style room in Aobakan. It was very convenient. There were two room keys, two washrooms, and two wicker baskets for the baths, and the hotel is very considerate of its guests. I get the impression that most of the guests are locals from Miyagi Prefecture. There are many repeat guests. There are only about one busload of tour guests. There are no foreigners, so the guests are well-mannered. Breakfast starts at 7am, so it would be nice if they could change it to rice balls or something for mountain climbing."

"We stayed in early November 2023. The room was fine. Nothing special, but clean and roomy. The staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't need English support so I can't say if any spoke English. The onsen is standard good. The rotenburo was quite hot but felt good in measured doses after a day of hiking and one's skin feels silky smooth after soaking in the sulfur baths of this region. The lobby has a decent coffee machine and some complementary beverages. The food was nothing short of excellent and made the stay a success. When making our reservation we opted for set courses and we inquired beforehand if they could do a vegetarian course. Some places will say "no", some will not answer you, and some will say "yes" but you find the chef has little experience with vegetarian meals and it ends up being very tofu heavy. Naruko Kanko Hotel's chef clearly knew what he or she was doing: the set was varied and delicious. I have provided a photo of dinner (before the rice, soup, and something else I can't recall now arrived). The seafood course, selected by my companion, was reportedly equally good. Breakfast (another photo provided) was also very good. As a domestic traveler in Japan, I have stayed at any number of hotels and ryokans over the years and this was one of the best set courses I have had. On the down side, the amenities, which one picks up in the lobby, were very basic, and strangely there were no towels in the room besides the two onsen towels, large and small, i.e. the sink area of the bathroom had no hand towels and we had to ask at the front desk for some. That was excessive cost-cutting, I think. The most recent review here prior to this one appears to be from 2016 and some things have changed, not that they impacted our stay. There is no longer karaoke nor a separate bar. I imagine these were casualties of greatly reduced tourism during the pandemic, which many hotels nation wide are still trying to recover from. "

"Quite a traditional hotel about 15 mins walk from the centre of town. Large public area where there is free WiFi ( not available in the bedrooms). Rooms are large and quaintly old fashioned. Everything is clean. We had room 306 with beds although there are futons available (would have preferred a futon but as only staying for one night this was unimportant). Traditional Japanese sweet and green tea in the room Shower pressure good and lots of hot water. Indoor and outdoor onsen albeit rather small. Dinner was beautifully presented in the second floor restaurant. En route several beautiful kimonos are on display. Breakfast, average fare and probably not the best we had experienced during our stay in Japan. Good fresh fruit though. "

"This is such a great way to experience the quieter and more traditional side of Japan. The Yusaya Ryokan was incredibly welcome to us and our two elementary school kids, none of whom can speak Japanese except for the basic "please" and "thank you." The room, a traditional tatami one, is set up first with a table and then the staff remake it with futons. Thankfully despite the traditional layout, there is plenty of AC in each room. The included dinner and breakfast were lavish (we felt bad wasting so much food but there was more than we could possibly eat) and while not particularly child friendly to the picky eater, included rice and other basics to get them by. The Onsen nearby are available for your use - a men's/women's one in the Ryokan itself, plus a public one right next door and an open-air one across the street. We tried them all and each had its own charm. Don't miss a chance to leave the big city tourism and enjoy the hospitality Yusaya Ryokan has to offer."

"Originally 15/11 staying here, when I too about 4 pm to arrive .. the hotel door did not turn on the light and press the bell and no staff ... sat for a while and felt bad ... so left to the nearby hotel to ask if there is a room .. although there is no room but the staff helped me call to survey seven soup ... But no one answered...I was uneasy and not confident to stay...luckily near the JR station so I took the JR out of the city...when I waited for the bus time login trip...found Furukawa Rusakura Hotel, I used to stay in this group (very confident) reasonable price and halfway out of Sendai Thank you trip for helping me solve the problem 🙏 As for Kanqi Soup..can I request a refund? Thank you 🙏"
