"I recently stayed at the Woodlands Hotel in the Lake District, and I was very pleased with the experience. First of all, the breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options including fresh salmon, which was a nice touch. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, giving it a homely feel. The hotel is also in a convenient location, with a nearby bus stop that makes it easy to reach the main attractions in the Lake District. Overall, it’s a great value hotel with attentive service. Highly recommended!"

"Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself. We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too. We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful. After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks. We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny"

"We absolutely loved our stay, our room was immaculate, cosy and with the added bonus of having a door opening up onto the beautiful manicured gardens. Nothing to complain about, looking forward to staying again"

"Absolutely amazing stay , as soon as we arrived everything was great and customer service was brilliant . They even upgraded us to a room with a hot tub for my husbands birthday. Spa was lovely and even on the checkout day can use it to 1pm which was a nice bonus. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and so good only had to walk 30 seconds from our room. Will definitely be back to visit again!"

"The property and the ambience is lovely. The view from the restaurant garden is very pleasant and beautiful. The room size, bathroom size and amenities were good. We faced 1 major problem to be precise which made us a bit sore. Cleanliness - the room was clean except for the carpet. It didn’t feel like it was vacuumed. There was probably a pet staying in that room before us and there was a lot of hair on the carpet. I understand it is a pet friendly property and I have absolutely no problem with that. But cleaning the room properly before the next checkin is a basic expectation. We couldn’t step on the floor without our feet being covered with hair. Apart from that, everything else was very good. Breakfast was also good and the customer service was very polite and hospitable as well."

"My husband and I stayed here in one of the larger posh 4-poster bed rooms for 2 nights nights. It is an ideal location, being a very short walk from the village high street, across the road from the harbour with beautiful lake views, but tucked high enough away from any street noise. And because it's a proper hotel, the room we booked was large enough, and even had a bidet. There was adequate parking, a lovely full English breakfast buffet, and a fancy bar and restaurant onsite. The only downside was that the lift was broken, so we had to climb to the top floor many times a day, and construction was taking place on site, but that was quiet for us as our room was around the other side of the building. If you're there in the dead of summer, there was no AC. (Just a heads up in case you're from the states and used to it all hotel rooms) Not currently any pool or hot tub at the time of typing this. I would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend it to my friends. 👍🏼"

"This house was built in 1850. This house can be checked in through a password. The bed is soft and comfortable, the room is very warm, and the hot water is sufficient. It is a little bit far from the railway station, but very close to the lake. A good trip experience!"

"The Macdonald Old England Hotel is well situated, being just a stones throw from the lakeside and the shops in Bowness. The staff are friendly and obliging and the service matches their attitude. The breakfasts are fine, although the staff can sometimes be a bit slow in replenishing the tureens. We did not use the Spa, so we cannot comment on that. Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again."
