"Just opened and absolutely sublime. If you need a reset, this new onsen hotel is the perfect retreat. Also with good view of 洞爺湖. The hot spring baths are pristine and calming—the Rooms are a beautiful blend of modern comfort and traditional style, and the multi-course kaiseki dinner is unforgettable. What stands out is the serene atmosphere and the attentive, proud staff. It feels both luxurious and deeply peaceful. Go. Soak. Unwind. You’ll leave refreshed and already wanting to return."

"One of the more affordable onsen hotel along the lake. Small on price but definitely did not compromise on comfort and quality. Dated building but the bed and room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was full of options and delicision I stayed in a single room facing the mountain. Even though it was along the road, it was not noisy. Simple onsen, perfect for the cold weather Just outside the bus stop. The free fireworks displayed right in front of the hotel. One minus... Like many older onsen hotels in Japan, the carpets are dusty. It triggered my sneezing and I don't usually get allergic with dust!"

"The view was awesome and the price is reasonable. Did not had to head out of hotel vicinity during our 2D1N stay. Breakfast and dinner was provided. Having the swan boat ride and public foot bath right in front of hotel was icing on the cake!"

"We absolutely loved staying here. We had a large Japanese style room with a view of the lake. You could watch the fireworks and see the sunsets. The hotel is set slightly apart from the other main hotels which is a positive. The baths were never busy and there was a small outdoor bath. We really enjoyed our stay here"

"The hotel is a bit far from the Toyako Onsen area and it is located in a quiet area. However, hotel provides free shuttle service to and fro the Toyako Onsen area and JR train station. The room is beautiful and clean. Sadly, the hotel location unable us to view Mt Yotei from our room. There's also a public bath aside from the private bath in the room. Everything else is great and worth travelling to. "

"This hotel has left the deepest impression on me during my travels in Hokkaido. The Dongye Lake bus stopped at 8:30, making it difficult to hail a taxi, but the front desk staff was enthusiastic and helped us arrive at the hotel smoothly. The hotel's hot springs are very distinctive, with rooms in the style of tatami, clean and tidy, and beautiful scenery, including views of Lake Toya. Highly recommended for check-in, excellent value for money. Happy New Year！🎆"

"The location is the best which just one minute walking distance to the bus terminal to/from Toya Station and in front of the ferry pier. Please see my photo. Perfect location. The front desk receptionist lady was friendly. I was placed to a lake view Japanese style room. It doesn't include shower but toilet in the room and it looks like old but I love the room. The view from the room's window to Lake Toya was excellent. I love my room's window can be opened, I could see more clear to the lake view and to have fresh air from outside by opening the window. Even it was a raining day, cloudy and frosty. The view is still spotless good. The service was good. The room was clean, tidy and come with all necessity, but bath/shower excluded. However, based on the price, I was happy with it because I don't mind to use the bathroom in the onsen area on floor one. There was only two down side that I found: First, the male onsen area floor was sticky and slippery with moss (My left hand accidentally touched it and my hand was sticked with moss in outdoor onsen area) that includes indoor and outdoor area. I wish they would take more effort to the cleanliness of onsen area. Second, the suana was not available for customer to use. However, I had a fantastic sauna and onsen in 万世閣 (a hotel where is just a few minutes walk away from Toya Grand Hotel) by a paying walk in onsen fee(1300 yen) for non-resident. So, it didn't affect me much. Overall, my experience was good. I would give Toya Grand Hotel 8 out of 10. I love Toya Grand Hotel. I would recommend it."

"My brief, one-night stay at Kohan Tei left me with mixed feelings. Stepping into the hotel, it was immediately clear that the property is quite dated; honestly, everything just looks worn out. This dated feel detracted from the experience, leaving the stunning lake view as the only true highlight—and even that is conditional on good weather, making it a bit hit-or-miss. The onsen was, unfortunately, a disappointment. The facility itself is small, and I found it inconvenient that they don't provide towels, requiring a trip back to the room. The biggest issue, however, was the outdoor bath: the water simply wasn't hot enough to truly relax in the cold winter air. On the positive side, I could see why the buffet dining is a big draw. Both breakfast and dinner seem popular, especially since they offer the fun option to do your own mini grill or hotpot. My only critique here is that the breakfast time felt relatively short—it was a definite rush to finish before the cutoff. Finally, the location is excellent for exploring. We enjoyed a lovely post-meal walk that stretches all the way to the ferry dock (about 3-4 km). It's a peaceful stroll with sculptures along the way, perfect for a photo or two. Overall, while the setting is beautiful, the hotel is truly due for a major renovation."
