"Nice little boutique hotel. Not directly on the beach, but within 200 feet. Rooms are cozy and clean. AC worked well. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Some rooms are nicely, recently remodeled, and they are still working on others. The shared kitchen was not available to us when we were there - hopefully they are renovating that too and future guests can enjoy it. Could use some outdoor seating."

"We stayed in the Gecko Studio, a ground floor so reduced privacy and it is basic accommodation with limited amenities, (kitchenware)but some of the larger units were much nicer. It is a small space and no dresser so we lived out of suitcases. A very sociable setting as you can sit outside in the courtyard and visit with neighbours. They have bikes, paddle boards, beach chairs and a kayak for use. The hosts are very sociable and responsive to needs/requests. Location is central to everything!"

"Went to Belize with family. Did not have any first hand dealings with Captain Jaks'; however, we were involved in a golf cart accident with a client of Captain Jak's Ron Daniel of Arkansas. As Captain Jak's golf cart was severely damaged and the driver of their vehicle was clearly at fault, I would have thought that the business had a stake in this incident; a stake in holding the renter of the golf cart accountable or concern for the family that was injured by the negligence of the renter of their vehicle. Nothing. Captain Jak's did not reach out to me and my family to see if we were alight (neither did the driver at fault). Absolutely stonewalled when we inquired about the situation, how Captain Jak's was addressing the situation, whether they were holding the renter accountable or requiring him to make a statement to the police (which the individual Ron Daniel refused to do). The manager at our resort Umaya Resort was also stonewalled regarding his inquiries as his golf cart was severely damaged through the negligence of Captain Jak's renter."

"FABULOUS! Great communication with the host and site manager. Super clean, comfortable accommodations. Very comfortable bed. Has all the amenities you could need. I loved that it was quiet, yet only minutes walking to everything. We used the beach chairs and rented the bikes that are available there. Would definitely go back and stay here and highly recommend. The only drawback was that we arrived in the evening. It was dark, and we had a challenge finding the location"

"Driftwood Gardens was truly my hidden gem in Placencia. I stayed in one of the lovely one-bedroom accommodations over the weekends before and after my volunteer trip, and it was the perfect place to relax. The apartment was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything I needed. The beautiful pool and lush tropical gardens created a peaceful oasis where I could unwind after diving. What really sets Driftwood Gardens apart are the owners. They clearly take tremendous pride in their property and genuinely care about their guests. Their hospitality, attention to detail, and willingness to help made me feel right at home. If you’re looking for a quiet, charming place to stay in Placencia that feels personal rather than commercial, I can’t recommend Driftwood Gardens highly enough. It was my little diamond in the rough, and I would happily stay there again on my next trip to Belize."

"Enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Belize with family. We started our adventure at Blancaneaux Lodge and ended it at the Turtle Inn. Our first visit to the Turtle Inn was 12 years ago and it continues to be a special destination for us. It's been incredible sharing this place with our kids and grandkids the last two years. Martin (Manager) is very attentive and immediately greeted us when we arrived. At Turtle Inn, the staff quickly becomes family. There is so much to do and explore. It is a great place to bring kids and offers the perfect balance of adventure and downtime. I highly recommend Belize to anyone looking for a beautiful, enriching getaway. I already booked our 2027 trip!"

"An absolutely fabulous Inn. You find yourself right at the end of the village where you are just off the beaten path, but yet just moments away from everything you need. Tom and Lori are fantastic host and references for all things Belize. From the moment we walked onto the property to the time of our departure, there was just the right mix of hospitality, concierge service, local knowledge, and yet we never felt like we were intruded upon. Rooms are fantastic, the beds are even better, the upstairs porches made for a great experience, and the downstairs bar and food truck made for a great happy hour before our night time activities. Can't say enough about the hospitality of Tom and Lori and I would 100 percent come back to the Sea Glass Inn."

"Wow!! This was such a worthwhile experience! So thankful I called and talked to Stefan! He helped us plan our whole trip since they only had 3 nights open on the island! I didn’t know where to start and he helped every step of the way! The island was beautiful and so relaxing! Accommodations were great and nice and clean. Food was delicious and the staff truly make this place what it is!! They treat you like family and are so accommodating! So many kudos to Merary, Charmaine, and Hakim! Highly recommend this island experience!"

"I have stayed at Serenade Hotel in the past and have always appreciated the warmth and hospitality of the permanent staff. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, which I understand are necessary for improvement. However, my most recent experience during this transition was mixed. Manager Lulu continues to demonstrate professionalism and genuine care for guests. Sobo in maintenance and Sila in housekeeping are also consistently kind, considerate, and accommodating within their abilities. The core team clearly values the guest experience and works hard to maintain a welcoming environment despite the disruptions that renovations naturally bring. Unfortunately, my interaction with the renovation crew was disappointing. I was feeling unwell and simply asked how long they anticipated working directly outside my room so I could plan a short nap for recovery. I did not expect work to stop — only that the loud chatter and laughter be kept to a minimum since I was literally resting on the other side of the wall. The response I received felt dismissive and unnecessarily rude. I later overheard Manager Lulu respectfully addressing the matter, and it was disheartening to hear her concerns dismissed as well. Because of the way the situation was handled and the lack of respect shown to the manager on duty, I chose to elevate the concern to one of the property owners. The owner came and spoke to the renovation team calmly and professionally, explaining that the work itself was completely acceptable, but that it was inconsiderate to be directly outside a guest room talking and laughing loudly. At no point did the owner raise his voice, use profanity, or behave disrespectfully toward the temporary team. Renovations are understandable, but professionalism and courtesy toward both guests and hotel staff should remain consistent at all times. It was disappointing to witness members of the core team — who clearly care about their roles and the guest experience — being treated with disregard by a temporary repair crew. I sincerely hope that once renovations are complete, the respectful and peaceful atmosphere upheld by the permanent staff will be fully restored, as they truly deserve recognition for their dedication and care."

"I was here with a group of 15 at the end of a mission trip. We rented several villas. Lacey was super friendly and accommodating! The villas were clean and nice. They are located in a quiet area but close to everything in the village, and were just a short walk to Nite Wind Tours for our excursions. The 2 bedroom apartment my son and I and a friend shared had a refrigerator and full kitchen. It would be a perfect base for a family vacation. The villas were a great value for the price, and varied from singles to 2 bedroom apartments, so there is something for everyone, from couples to large families to groups. I highly recommend Placencia Villas if you are visiting the village and need a great place to stay!"

"Captain Jak's is well situated in town and they have access to all the toys you need while there. We had an issue within our room and needed to leave. The staff did offer to change us to another room but we chose to leave the property. While they were initially hesitant to assist us further, they did decide that it was in our best interest and then worked hard to assist us. They were professional and polite throughout the process. Nobody likes to deal with issues but when they arise as they inevitably do, it shows the character of the person or company on how they resolve it. In the end, they did a good job and showed quality character. Both are appreciated."
