"Since we were staying on the 8th floor, the view was amazing. The room was calming and spacious. The bed was low, which I felt was considerate of children and those with weak legs. However, if the bathtub height was a little lower... For breakfast, I always have bread, salad, a few side dishes, and coffee, so I felt that Japanese food would be more versatile."

"I walked to the hotel from Sakata Station. The hotel was clean, and I was satisfied with the large public bath. I think the breakfast was also wonderful. It was a little over 30 minutes' walk through the snow from Sakata Station. There are Yoshinoya and Kourakuen restaurants near the hotel. Then I walked to Kantaro. Across the street is Hama Sushi. None of the places seem to be promoting Sakata. I had trouble ordering at Kantaro. It was my first time in Sakata. It was disappointing."

"I liked it last time and stayed here for two nights. It was easy to get to sightseeing spots and nightlife, so I walked around most of the time. "Although it is far from the station, public transportation stops in the evening, and it is not close enough to take a taxi, so I walked about 20 minutes. It's not a problem if you don't have luggage, but it may be a bit difficult if you have a lot of luggage. There is no convenience store between the station and the hotel. There is a supermarket that is open until 9pm very close by. The view from the high floor was very nice."

"Small, family-run hotel right by the train station. Reasonable facilities for the price. You make your own bed, towels and nightgowns can be rented for 100 yen each. Tea is free day and night. The area and the hotel are quiet, although as far as I can see it is fully booked. You can have breakfast in the café on the ground floor, very cozy with a funny owner. All in all, a nice stay."

"The meals were delicious kaiseki cuisine. Mount Chokai was visible from the room. Rooms on the opposite side offer a panoramic view of the town. The open-air bath wasn't lit at night, but during the day it was beautiful and the temperature was just right. On both the first and second days, I had pleasant conversations with mountain climbers. Above all, the atmosphere of the large hall was wonderful. I spent my time sitting and reading a novel, while others were relaxing with music playing. The weather was bad during my stay so I couldn't observe the stars, but I heard that Saturn is visible on clear days. The room was also perfect, and I was very satisfied!"

"In my opinion, Wakaba Ryokan is the best option in Sakata if you're looking for a beautiful, comfortable hotel. Our Japanese-style room was spacious, clean, and very quiet. We slept wonderfully. The staff is incredibly friendly, warm, and authentic—a true family-run establishment. Breakfast and dinner are homemade and excellent. The Japanese bath, while not very large, is traditional and very appealing. The old rice barns of Sakata are just a few minutes' walk from the hotel."

"It was clean, but because it's old, the drain smell was a bit noticeable. There's no elevator, so it might be difficult for people with mobility issues. Bath towels and pajamas cost 100 yen each. They were provided free of charge this time. I didn't experience any particular inconvenience during my stay, and I think it's good value for money.
