"Few Chinese tourists visit this less-traveled spot, but its peak autumn foliage is truly breathtaking. We went two weeks late this time, but still managed to catch the tail end of the fall colors. While the scenery was a bit disappointing, the hotel left me with wonderful memories. The hotel's location is excellent, right in the heart of the scenic area, with views right from the window. Although the hotel facilities are a bit dated, they are very well maintained. The rooms are large, and the tatami rooms are cozy and comfortable. Service and cleanliness are impeccable, and there's even a hot spring bath. The most amazing part was the kaiseki dinner – excellent quality and a wide variety of dishes, served one course at a time, both beautiful and delicious. It perfectly embodied the essence of a traditional Japanese one-night, two-meal hot spring hotel. At around 900 RMB per person, it's excellent value for money. If you're not driving, you can arrange for the hotel to pick you up from the station in advance, which is very convenient. However, on the return trip, the hotel couldn't arrange transportation, so we had to take a taxi, which was very expensive – 5000 yen for a 20-minute journey! Be prepared."
