"The container hotel's interior was stylish and lovely 😊 The adjacent restaurant, Tiida, was also fantastic, both inside and on the terrace. The food was delicious (especially the pizza), and we had a wonderful time. The sunset from the terrace was incredibly beautiful. It's a place I definitely want to visit again."

"Cooking for myself was fun, and the environment was just as I had imagined it would be when I looked at the introduction website beforehand, so it was great. I would have liked to stay a few nights and relax, fishing on the nearby beach. The only thing that was a bit off was that the bath didn't have a reheating function. Other than that, the room and toilet were very clean, so it was a very pleasant stay!"

"I was told that breakfast was included, but when I went to breakfast, all that was there was rice from the rice cooker, instant seaweed soup, and pickled radish. I asked, "Is this breakfast?" and was told to help yourself, but I was surprised at how unlikely it was! I'll never go again."

"The room design was excellent, and the balcony offered a superb sea view. However, considering the hotel's price, positioning, and facilities, the room service was extremely poor. Firstly, the room wasn't cleaned daily; they only provided new towels and collected the trash, and the room wasn't cleaned until the fourth night. Aside from the fact that the hotel is positioned as a high-priced scenic hotel but doesn't provide comprehensive services, what dissatisfied us most was that the hotel didn't proactively replenish consumables such as tissues, toilet paper, or coffee. The so-called "new towels" were simply a garbage bag placed on the floor as a base, with the towels on top; you'd see the new towels on the floor as soon as you opened the door. Seriously, even chain APA hotels at least put towels in large plastic bags and hang them on the door; this hotel's practice was truly appalling. Even more shockingly, the housekeeping staff only collected the trash but didn't collect the old towels! We were three people staying for three nights, and after the second night, we had so many towels that we didn't have room for them… We tried leaving the old towels near the door to see if the housekeeping staff would collect them. It turned out that the old towels would only be collected if left near the door. Secondly, while I appreciate the hotel providing cooking utensils for guests, the room's trash can was pitifully small. I suggest providing an extra kitchen trash can for guests. Overall, the room views are superb, but the service is disappointing. The room rate only includes the view and facilities, not the service, so the value for money is mediocre (I booked at the opening price; at the current full price, I wouldn't come back because there's practically no service). This hotel is good for taking photos, so one night is enough; staying several nights will only make you more and more disappointed."

"I discovered a hidden gem of a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) on the Santo Peninsula of Shodoshima Island. It's a renovated old Japanese house with decades of history, and the service was amazing. Booking a room even included a private car and driver available on demand. Breakfast and dinner were included—a truly sumptuous feast of local cuisine and homemade sake. The food was incredibly refined, but the portions were enormous; the two of us were so full we could barely walk. We also had a private open-air hot spring bath. The house is structured like a traditional Japanese courtyard house, with a small Japanese garden in the center, separated from the rooms by glass, keeping out mosquitoes. My girlfriend had a migraine, and we forgot our medication. They immediately came to apply cold compresses, took care of her, and even brought her painkillers—they were a lifesaver! [frowning face] The Kamiura Beach is right outside the door. It's a Japanese ryokan that's practically flawless. If you're visiting Shodoshima, I highly recommend it! [applause]"

"I stayed here during the year-end and New Year holidays when I traveled to Shodoshima, which I had always wanted to visit. I was confused about ``Shimayado Mari,'' which is in the same chain and near the Marukin Soy Sauce Memorial Museum, but I ended up making a reservation for ``Umion Mari,'' which opened in 2019 and has a view of the ocean. After renting a car in Takamatsu, we took a one-hour ferry ride, and from Tonosho Port, where we disembarked, it was about a 30-minute drive. Along the way, we visited Angel Road, Nakayama Senmaida, Shodoshima Olive Park, and other sightseeing spots. If your car navigation system is a little older, it may only show Mari Shimajuku as your destination, so you should be careful. The inn by the sea, away from tourist spots, is a small inn with three rooms in the main building and two outbuildings. All rooms are spacious and have a bath with a view, but this time we will stay at the "Anano Oto". I stayed at When you go up through the separate entrance and open the door, you will find a spacious room with a combined bed and living room, and you can see the Seto Inland Sea from the large window. The ceilings are high, and the lighting, furniture, and plumbing fixtures all have a modern Japanese feel. You can see the ocean from the bath, and although it is not a hot spring, it is a sake bath where you can soak in Kagawa's local sake (a hot spring facility is currently open on the premises). If you go out to the balcony, you can experience the quiet sea of Seto Inland Sea, the sound of waves, and the sea breeze.Although you can't see the sunrise or sunset, you can see the sea from your bed. For dinner, we will have a course called Olive Kaiseki at the restaurant on the first floor of the main building. Creative dishes using seasonal vegetables and fish from Setouchi and the islands, Olive beef, olive oil from Shodoshima, soy sauce made in wooden barrels, etc. Along with this, each item was carefully crafted and was unique to this inn. By the second half of the course, I was quite full, but the sushi that was made in front of me was so delicious that I finished it right away. The late-night snack was on New Year's Eve, so we had warm New Year's Eve Soba noodles topped with shrimp tempura delivered to our room, and we spent New Year's Eve watching NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen on TV for the first time in decades while eating New Year's Eve Soba noodles. . For breakfast the next morning, there were some New Year's Day items such as black beans and herring roe, but we also had a simple but carefully selected menu that made use of island ingredients, such as clay pot rice, fresh vegetables, and tofu. In addition to olive oil and soy sauce, the on-site souvenir shop we stopped by afterward also had a selection of Shodoshima specialties lined up, so if you have time, you can take a look and buy something to remember your trip. maybe. Although it is a small inn, there are only a few rooms, so I felt that the staff provided very attentive service in the rooms and at the restaurant. This was my first visit to Shodoshima, and although it is a bit difficult to get to, it is a good size for a 1-2 day drive and there are many sightseeing spots, so I would like to visit again in a different season. At that time, I was very satisfied with my stay this time, so I think I will be thinking about whether to stay at this "Shimayado Mari" again or the other "Shimayado Mari"."

"Arrived at Shodoshima directly by ferry from Kobe at around 12 PM. The hotel informed me that early check-in wasn't possible, with the official check-in time being 3 PM. After dropping off our luggage, we headed to a nearby supermarket for some groceries. The hotel's exterior looks quite ordinary, much like an apartment building, but the interior is minimalist and stylish. There are no room cards; instead, guests use a QR code for access. iPhone users can even add it to their Apple Wallet for convenient scanning. The rooms are equipped with pots and cooking utensils, allowing guests to cook. However, be aware that even with the range hood, it takes some time for cooking odors to dissipate. Breakfast options were somewhat limited, with not much variety. On the other hand, they offered a dazzling array of sauces (Shodoshima's own soy sauce, olive oil), so many that it was hard to choose! A little more information or recommendations for these would have been helpful. Overall, it was a good experience. I'd recommend it to all travelers visiting Shodoshima! 👍"
