Like a lot of Chinese-built regional hotels in Indonesia the build quality of this place is terrible, and it will very likely be falling apart in five years. By focusing on aesthetics the owners have overlooked the most essential requirements of a good hotel - good service and basic functions that actually work. For instance, the shower cycled between scorching hot and freezing cold and the drainage was blocked both times I used it - so ended up with a flood. The light switches didn’t work properly and the entire floor stank of smoke, despite being a “non-smoking” room. The buffet breakfast was ok, but the service almost non-existent. There aren’t a lot of Western-standard options in Sumenep, and sadly this is probably the best, but that doesn’t mean it’s good. Happy travels."
