"We stayed in a Western-style room with an ocean view. The wooden floor made for a comfortable stay. The bathroom was a unit type, but it wasn't as cramped as those in business hotels. We were able to take a bath comfortably. The double bed was spacious and low in height, allowing us to sleep soundly. The area that could be converted into an extra bed was convenient for storing luggage. For the set menu breakfast, we could choose between seaweed or natto (fermented soybeans). The menu items were ordinary, but the food was prepared with nutritional balance in mind and tasted delicious. We visited in winter, so the BBQ facilities were closed. I would like to revisit during the season when BBQ is at its best."

"The owner was very kind. They had already turned on the air conditioner when I arrived, which was a great help. The bathtub is only big enough for one person. "To check in, you need a passcode to enter the hotel entrance, but I wasn't given one. There's a phone number posted at the entrance, so if you call, they'll give you a temporary passcode. The passcode changes after check-in, so it's good to remember it. The room is what you'd expect for the price, like a budget hotel. The surrounding area is quiet, so it should be fine if you're not sensitive to mechanical noises. The facilities are old but have everything you need. Bringing my own slippers was a good idea. I should have brought insect (mosquito) spray. The water heater had a slight odor, so it's probably a good idea to bring your own spray as well. There's a nearby affiliated hot spring that costs 800 yen, but I recommend it because it's comfortable with an open-air bath and sauna overlooking the sea."

"What to say about Kaiyu ?! That we were so pleasantly surprised by the place in itself. A former business hotel which was transformed by Mitsu and his family into a warm cosy, with a sustainable spirit, and finely decorated place while keeping the original structure. Each room has its personality and every room has a wonderful view on the Oki beach. The welcome was very warm and simple at the same time. The onsen was just pure hapiness ! Sharing moments and meals with Mitsu, his family and the other guests was sincerely joyful and invigorating, with a special mention to Tae who cooks divinely well. We did feel like home. And we do also hope to stay there again in the future ! Thank you Mitsu, Tae, Kazu & Marie. From the bottom of our heart, Juliette & Eric"

"There are many types of accommodation, but this time, four of us stayed in a log house with a capacity of eight people. There is a space for barbecuing, and charcoal and stoves can be rented for an additional fee. The kitchen is mostly equipped with refrigerators, pots, and cutlery. Food can be purchased, but you can also bring your own. There are also sports facilities, hot springs, restaurants, and children's play equipment. It is very spacious, and the entire facility is located on the side of a mountain, so the views are great, but moving around is mostly up steep slopes. It is quite tiring to walk."

"The service was excellent, with a shuttle bus from the main station to help with luggage. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious, with a buffet breakfast and beautiful views. The private hot spring bath with sunrise views was fantastic. They also provided fishing rods and tackle. The only downside was the noise from the equipment in the room, which I think was from the air conditioner unit. Since it's a detached villa, some noise was unavoidable. The breakwater almost completely blocked out the sound of the waves, but the noise still got a bit overwhelming. Finally, I have to complain – it was the first time in my life I'd encountered someone urinating in the public bath! It really ruined the experience. I went straight back to my room for the private hot spring bath to watch the sunrise. However, it's not really the hotel's fault. The hotel is still definitely worth staying at for a couple of days."

"The hotel has to be praised for the high quality of the buffet dinner, especially the small and exquisite desserts, and you can try more. The staff's service attitude is thoughtful and enthusiastic, and they also took the initiative to introduce us to the lobby to play stall games after dinner. The atmosphere was lively, and I won a lot of candies and a super-large Awaji Island onion with a small amount of change 😄. But I can't help but say the following incident. There are five people, my husband and I and our three daughters, and we booked a double room and a triple room respectively. The price of the triple room is obviously half of the double room, that is, we have paid for two plus three people. As soon as we arrived, we participated in the hotel's free fishing activity, but the hotel only provided two fishing rods per room, even though it was dusk and many guests had left and there were many remaining fishing rods. The argument with the staff was fruitless. The five of us had no choice but to take turns using four rods, passing them back and forth, and we couldn't catch a single fish. These staff members just gathered together to chat and did not help throughout the whole process. These service attitudes are really rare in Japan. Originally, this fishing activity was the main reason for choosing this hotel, but it felt like a very disappointing experience. 😔"
