"We requested higher-level rooms but were given Level 5. That was fine, but unfortunately the milk provided in our room was spoiled. The management was very disappointing. One staff member told us something was possible, but immediately after we checked out, another staff member said it wasn’t. There was no consistency or clear communication at all. There was no welcome drink or any form of hospitality just spoiled milk in the room, which honestly says a lot…After 9pm, there was literally nothing to do, just a ghost hotel. The original price of the room is $370, but for this price a night, we definitely did not receive service that matched the price. It is honestly a one-star Temu version of a Shangri-La. We found out we could have used that $370 to rent an entire house on Airbnb instead of staying at what is supposed to be a five-star hotel. Check airbnb website, you will find better stay with the money you pay for this hotel. This is an old, cramped hotel that feels like it’s scamming people under the label of a so-called five-star experience."

"I don’t normally write reviews but I “promised” the staff of this hotel I will write one. Since I only stayed for one night, I can close my eyes to the mouldy bathroom or flies in every room. But the check-in service almost put me out on the street at 11pm. The person who checked me in told me that “management” requires a cash deposit of 200AUD. I didn’t have any cash on me and said I can pay by ApplePay. The answer is if I do that, they would not refund my deposit. Since I didn’t have a physical credit card with me, I asked my husband to use his credit and we were told that the card must be in the name of the person who made the reservation. Honestly, it was 11pm and the person made it clear that my best option is to pay 200AUD and not asking it back! Trip.com tried to help and “management “ just wouldn’t agree. I would have brought a physical card or cash with me if this was made clear in the instructions. Guess what? There are some find prints in their email — deposit will only be refunded after 6-8 weeks. “Management “, are you serious?"

"This hotel is located in North Sydney, and its location is just 'okay'. It's about an 8-minute walk from the train station. The hotel facilities are pretty good because it's relatively new, but the bathroom isn't separated wet and dry, and the floor can be a bit slippery. If that's a deal-breaker for you, you might want to reconsider. Both guys at the front desk seemed Indian and appeared very helpful, but they didn't actually solve any problems."

"I stayed 3 hostels (all dorm room) during 1 week in Sydney and I liked Big hostel the most in term of the spacious room and strategic location . I recognized that sharing with more people is actually better option because more people, the room is bigger, meaning we would have better common area. I booked the bed in 4-bed room before in other hostel and the room was too tiny, almost no common space for social conversations; when opening the door, u face straight to the bed, and all u want to do is staying in the bed instead of talking with others."
