"To put this stay into context we were on our way back from attending the Annecy Animation Festival so had had a week of sauna like living in an apartment without air conditioning and sleeping in 27 degree night temperatures. The sheer bliss of a cool hotel room was so amazing after a week of 38 degree C days. We arrived around 6pm after a 335 mile drive in our EV involving recharging en-route so being recommended the next door Hotel Mercure Restaurant on a Sunday night that we were told had vegan food options was very welcome as it involved just a 50 yard stroll. The meal was disappointing - overpriced with poor 'sniffy' service and a single vegan menu dish. The non-vegan menu items were pretty lacklustre and the desserts were woeful and way below what I would expect from any half decent French kitchen. AVOID the Mercure is my advice. The Ibis Budget is a good clean well appointed hotel if you just want an overnight stay while travelling. 7 miles from the city centre so if you want to be able to walk to the main tourist attractions in Tours you should book a city centre hotel."

"Located away from the bustling streets but not far from the popular sights, this hotel is in a good spot and easy to use for a short stay. Room was snug but worked fine for a night. If staying longer, recommend getting a good sized room as some are on the smaller side. Check-in is digital which didn't work at first as you need to use your phone and app to get into the building and room as there's no reception. Luckily, the help line via phone was able to help resolve the issue. Just ensure you have a functioning phone to enter the hotel as you'll need to use the app. Parking is hit or miss in the surrounding streets, but location was solid."

"Hello, I booked a room at the Hotel L'Univers for Valentine's Day. I came with my wife and then we made a reservation at the restaurant for a special Valentine's Day menu. We were asked to arrive before 9:30 p.m., which we did to get the menu that was intended for us, except that we arrived well before to be sure of having the special Valentine's Day menu. We arrived at 8:45 p.m. and we were told that it was too late and that there was no longer enough for everyone, so I am very disappointed. I express my disappointment. I say that I made the reservation a week in advance and that I was promised that we were entitled to a special Valentine's Day menu. After expressing our dissatisfaction several times, we were offered to make the menu that had been agreed but with a limited quantity. It is really a shame for such an establishment because the place is magnificent. The hotel with swimming pool, jacuzzi and hammam is wonderful but the catering is not up to the author of the establishment. Very disappointed. We reported the incident to the reception on the day of our departure and we were deducted €40 from the price of the special Valentine's Day menu but we would have preferred to pay the agreed price and be served correctly as agreed so it's a shame for such an establishment"

"The hotel is well located and the rooms clean, however on Friday 22nd April there was no hot water. There was no message sent to the guests and reception said it was being fixed but had little information. On Saturday there was still no hot water and we were told it would be fixed that day. By the evening at 1900 still not hot water. In the end the reception moved us to the nearby Novotel. We complained and asked for a partial refund from Accor as we are silver members. They told us the hotel would reply. So far we have heard nothing."

"The location was the main factor in choosing the hotel, as it's close to the train station. It's well-insulated. The room has air conditioning, a coffee machine, and a complimentary mini-candy. I didn't include breakfast. One downside was the elevator wasn't working on the day of my stay."

Novotel Tours Centre Gare

"We thought this hotel was going to be much nicer with a 4-star rating. The room was small, it didn’t get vacuumed in three days, they forgot to clean the bathroom and change the towels one day, and didn’t even remove the dishes from the restaurant in our room. We enjoyed being able to open the window and get fresh air. The paper cups in the room got soft after using them and they didn’t replace them daily. The safe was broken. It was just an unfortunate stay. We wish we’d chosen a small chateau or even a Hilton! The breakfast was terrible; not fresh; you could buy better food at Costco. 🤦🏼‍♀️Being beside the train station is about the only redeeming quality unfortunately."
