"Arrived into Whanganui and found the hotel easily. After checking in, very easily, we went to our room. Not sure how old the hotel is, but the hall way & guest lounge very 1920’s with modern touches - comfortable & elegant. Our room was another elegant room with lovely touches accenting the period of the property. Though looking “old” the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was huge with a corner whirlpool bath, as well as a shower too. We ate in the restaurant that evening & both of us had a lovely meal. Great stay & definitely recommend it."

"Nice, neat, clean, single storey motel style rooms with parking right outside the door. Friendly lady on reception who was very informative about the area. Nice town, lots of eating and shops within walking distance although if you drove into town it was all metered parking. Thank you to one of the trip advisors who had said to request a fan for the room as no air conditioning. The fan was already in the room and did a wonderful job of keeping us cool all night on a hot stay. Spacious room, large bed, crisp sheets, for us the bed was a little on the firm side, could maybe do with a topper pad but only stayed one night. Great kitchen area although we did not use, separate loo from the shower area. Our room was 12 which was at the end of the block but people were respectful of one another and the whole area was quiet. If going for breakfast I would highly recommend Parnells (you also get 10% off when you show them your room key), which had everything from full cooked breakfasts, sweet and savoury counter goods, we had the most wonderful bacon butty there!"

"My first experience was that this motel was not looked after. There were leaves and dirt everywhere outside and the gardens looked umkempt. On entering the room I noticed that the windows were filthy and 2 of the sheer curtains were ripped. There was a dead fly on the floor and another buzzzing around. There was no cutting board and no sharp knife. I found dirty crockery and cutlery, One cup had a large chip out of it. Hairs and dirt were in the drawer that the hair dryer was in. The couch was very uncomfortable. The owner was very pleasant and we were going to address these issues but he was preoccupied attempting to control his dog!"
