This place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

As frequent leisure travellers from Australia, this was our second stay at this hotel during this trip, and we remain exceptionally pleased with our overall experience. Location & Transportation: The hotel's location is exceptionally convenient, offering easy access to a vast selection of excellent dining, from local noodle shops to hot pot and barbecue. A metro station providing affordable access to the city centre and beyond is conveniently located just 800 meters away (and is free for those over 65 regardless of nationality). For guests with mobility concerns, we highly recommend DiDi (online taxi service), which we found to be an equally affordable and highly convenient alternative for city travel. Staff Service: The hotel staff consistently demonstrated outstanding hospitality. The receptionists were exceptionally friendly and efficient, ensuring a seamless check-in and proactively providing airport transfer information before our arrival. This high level of service extended to the pleasant breakfast staff and the cleaning personnel, who offered warm and welcoming greetings each morning. Laundry & Amenities: The availability of complimentary and assisted laundry service was a major advantage. This amenity proved highly convenient and essential during our 16-day trip covering Fuzhou and the surrounding area of Pingtan. Room Quality & Layout: We were very satisfied with the room's upkeep. It was meticulously cleaned, and the bed sheets, towels, and linens (including pillows) were all immaculately maintained—a crucial factor in our selection criteria. Furthermore, the room's layout was highly practical and luggage-friendly, featuring a logical and efficient arrangement of amenities. In conclusion, we are highly satisfied with our selection and would unreservedly return to this hotel on any future visit to the city.

Excellent location, very clean room , buffet breakfast has a wide variety of selection n taste great. Very good service staff at front desk, restaurant n concierge especially front desk staff Crystal n Daniel ( concierge) very knowledgeable by giving us lots of useful information on getting around. Booked an 5 day stay for an Business Trip. Location of hotel is good. There are a small shopping mall directly downstairs with some restaurants. (including starbucks and Mcdonalds) Most popular tourists and large shopping malls in the area are accessible via an short taxi trip. between 5-15 mins depending where you go. Overall hotel is very clean. Now for all the downside, (for reference I'm here during December with weather around 18 degrees during the day and 12-14 degrees during the night), if you like to control your own room temperature for your own comfort, do NOT book this hotel. The problem here is that they have an climate control in the room, however, it does not actually control any room temperature as I had later found out. Each day the hotel was pumping in heating through the centralised air condition. I complained that it was getting far too ”warm” for me and it was getting uncomfortable as the room felt stuffy and was giving me headaches, As there was no windows that you can open, there was no way to get ”fresh air” feeling into the room. It was also affecting my sleep during the night, this was an VERY unpleasant feeling. I tried to speak to the staff about this problem and their simple reply was basically ”nothing we can do” not even an attempt to offer an solution and that the climate control inside the room does NOT in fact control the temperature for the rooms! Another issue was I switched on the DND (do not disturb button) as I did not needed any room cleaning during the first night of stay, I came back to find room was cleaned and items was moved around. Now admittedly it's nice to come back to an tidied room, however I did not expect anyone to come in even though I switched the DND switch on. On the third day the same thing happen however this time I was inside the room working. Even though the DND button was switched on, staff was still knocking on doors and coming in to check if I needed room cleaning. After I rejected I was receiving calls to confirm I didn't need room cleaning, now all this is probably an good service for other people but for me it was very irritating as it kept interrupting me during an important work conference call. The final thing that I found to be quite lacking considering this is ”Hilton” was when I checked out, the staff asked if I needed an receipt/invoice for my stay, in which I requested yes, as I needed to put it to office accounts department for reimbursement purposes. They actually told me they could not print out any invoices for my stay. I needed to go and do that myself on Trip, which was fine, I thought I can do that myself, however because I have used room service etc I cannot get this on ”Trip”'s website. It just felt the whole experience was so poor coming from the ”Hilton” group. 100% the worst stay I have had.

Given the late hour and festive season, we were concerned that nearby restaurants might already be closed. To our pleasant surprise, several small eateries within 50 meters of the hotel were still open, allowing us to enjoy a proper late dinner. It was a reassuring start to our stay. The hotel’s environment is comfortable and welcoming. The lobby features a bright, clean design with warm wood tones and soft lighting that create a calm, relaxing atmosphere. A tasteful display area and cozy seating space add a subtle blend of business functionality and artistic charm. The front desk staff were professional and courteous, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient despite the late hour. We stayed in the Premier Themed Room (Japanese Style with Sakura), which was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Upon entering, we were greeted by a beautifully designed Japanese-inspired interior. Warm lighting, wooden flooring, and delicate sakura (cherry blossom) wall art created a serene and elegant ambiance. Wooden partition panels and subtle decorative details added refinement, giving the space an artistic yet tranquil feel — almost like a small ryokan-style retreat in the heart of Xiamen. The room was thoughtfully designed, spacious, and impeccably clean. A charming feature was the private balcony, which allowed fresh air in. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, dressed in crisp white linens. The mattress offered excellent support, and the pillows were soft yet supportive, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. All essential toiletries were generously provided, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dental kits, slippers, and towels. Everything was neatly arranged and well-maintained, reflecting attention to guest comfort. The complimentary breakfast was another pleasant surprise. It offered a good variety of well-prepared options, making it a satisfying way to start each day. The location is highly convenient, close to the Xiamen International Convention & Exhibition Center, with California Plaza Shopping Mall next door offering numerous dining choices. Whether for business or leisure, the hotel is an excellent option. Most importantly, the nightly rate was very reasonable and offered excellent value, especially considering the themed décor, balcony, full amenities, and included breakfast. The stay exceeded our expectations. We would gladly choose this room again on our next visit. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Highly recommended!

Bu otelde harika bir konaklama geçirdim! Konumu son derece elverişli, bir yemek sokağının hemen yanında, bu yüzden dışarı adım attığınız anda birçok yemek seçeneği mevcut. Ayrıca Batı Caddesi'ne sadece 1 km'den biraz daha uzakta ve ulaşım çok kolay. Otelin tam karşısında Chabaidao da dahil olmak üzere, yolun hemen karşısında üç bubble tea dükkanı var, bu da benim için mükemmeldi. Otel personeli güler yüzlü ve yardımseverdi. Hatta kargolarımı teslim almamda bile bana yardımcı oldular, bunu gerçekten takdir ettim. Oda temiz, düzenli ve konforluydu. Küçük bir önerim, kahvaltıda daha fazla ana yemek seçeneği sunarak iyileştirme yapmaları olurdu. Bunun dışında her şey harikaydı. Genel olarak, paranın karşılığını fazlasıyla veriyor ve Quanzhou'ya bir sonraki seyahatimde kesinlikle burada tekrar kalmayı düşüneceğim.

The hotel is pretty new. The room is clean and they provided the toiletries. There is housekeeping daily to clean the room but they did not make the bed. The room is equipped with smart appliance that works with voice commands to Xiao Du. There is a laundry area and guest can access to it with free of charge. However, few of the room that we booked, has problem with the flooring. The hotel quickly changed us for a new room when we complaint about the flooring that caused hazard. The breakfast is similar everyday with little choice. The hotel is at level three of the shopping mall. There is a lot of eatery shop nearby with a convenience shop opposite the hotel. In short, the location is very strategic and can access to all shops (e.g. pharmacy, lucking coffee, bread shop, milk tea shop, eatery street, and etc) at walking distance.

Breakfast poor and not delicious, pool dirty sauna dirty and some times not working, pool and gym staff not interesting around poor condition,front desk room cleaning door men staff's are good and helping enough, first floor coffee shop no staff care guests 😕, thank you for all good staff, next time I want to lunge entry from hotel side with my family

Hotel is situated near the line 1 subway station with easy access to both HSR stations and to the airport. Close to attractions and the food street. The room we got was ok and quite spacious with a place to store and open our big suitcase. We put our smaller suitcases on the couch. Breakfast was mainly Chinese style which suits us. Front desk service we received was ok, nothing excessive in the sense that you ask a question, you get the answer, like, when does breakfast start? 7 am. When does it end? 10 am. Which floor? 4th floor. I like the self laundry and used it every night. I didn’t use the tumble dryer so I’m not sure if that is good. I hung dry our clothes in the room and were dried the next morning. The carpet in the hallway has many stains and needs upgrading. There is no AI in the room as well.
