"I've stayed at many Premier Inn's over the years and this one was beyond the norm... very beautiful bar and dining area, didn't look like a normal Premier Inn. Rooms were great, fab air con, great mattress, extra pillows, tea, coffee etc. all available. There was a "self serve" area in the Reception to get more tea etc. in case you wanted more than provided. Free parking - no issues with getting a space (we stayed a Friday and Saturday night) You would need a car, as it's probably around 4 miles from the City Centre. Will definitely stay again when in Cardiff."

"The location was really convenient, just a 10 minute walk from the rail station and the staff was really friendly and hospitable. The only real issue was the heat in the room which was a real bummer.. the staff tried their best by providing us with a fan and a cooler but it was still really inconvenient to sleep in after a point. But take nothing away from the staff!"

"I’m so glad we decided to stay at The Coal Exchange Hotel in Cardiff. I’d been given the very important job of finding a place to stay overnight for my friend’s special birthday. I didn’t really know where to start, so I compared prices of hotels in the area. I was surprised to find that the ‘budget’ hotels Premier Inn and Travelodge were no cheaper than The Coal Exchange for the given dates! I had a look at the photos and reviews and it looked perfect for a special occasion. It was steeped in history with the interior design staying true to the period in which it was built. Originally, as there were five of us, I had booked the sextuplet room. It looked amazing and we were all really excited about staying there. Unfortunately though, due to maintenance work being carried out on that part of the building, we had to change our plans to three double rooms right next to each other. The rooms were beautiful. Floor to ceiling double windows, opulent wallpaper, ornate period furniture and a lovely comfortable centrepiece bed. The bathrooms had gorgeous jacuzzi baths and stone basins. The following morning we had a delicious breakfast in Culley’s Restaurant situated inside the Coal Exchange. The staff here are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure you have the best stay. Can’t wait to go back."

"Well this place has it good points and its bad points. The good points are the position for Cardiff Bay - 5 minute walk , free parking , tasty breakfast , room was good not brilliant , the staff are great - they help you and at breakfast they did their best to manage with the rubbish design of the dining area . The bad points are - quite a walk to town if that is where you want to go , nowhere to put underwear/socks - no drawers to put them in , breakfast set up is no good at all - a tiny corner where you could probably accommodate 2 or 3 people at the most serving their own breakfast - needs a complete re-think in that department . I always compare places I've stopped in and this is the first time I have stayed in. a Travelodge for breakfast - compared to Premier Inn , it doesn't come near . The bosses of Travelodge need to have a look at Premier Inn hotels and have a think about redesigning this hotel .Well I hope this has given you a helping hand in picking a hotel - for an overnight stop in Cardiff Bay and breakfast in a nearby cafe this would be ideal - otherwise I wouldn't stop longer than 1 night . I won't book here again - feel sorry for the hard working staff having to try their best in this place ."

"Our first time staying at a Travelodge & we were very impressed. The staff at check in were very friendly & polite. Our allocated room was very nice with everything you could want. The bed was incredibly comfortable & we slept very well over our 3 night stay. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Cardiff, within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, bars etc. We have stayed at a number of hotels in Cardiff & this is now our number 1 choice for future visits. The prices are also very competitive compared to other hotels."

"We definitely did not have a great experience staying in this hotel - I would NOT recommend. There was no air conditioning in the room we stayed in. They offered 2 different fans, both of which not being the best of quality. There was lots of noise coming from the main street outside the hotel, granted this is not the hotel’s fault but made it difficult for sleeping. On the second day of our stay, both of our key cards stopped working, conveniently happening at 12pm - their check out time. There was no one available at reception to help us, instead we had to call a phone number and someone had to come down to assist us (which took 15 minutes), meanwhile I was stuck in the corridor in my pyjamas. The elevator situation was also concerning - one of the elevators seemed very unsafe. The lights were dingy and dark and it made loud, squeaky noises whilst going up and down. Overall, not the best experience, but you definitely get what you pay for."

"I feel like the cleaning service could have been better. Dirty towels left behind, cleaners forgetting their phones in the room, coming in to clean even if do not disturb sign placed and on checkout day before checkout time. It was very expensive for what was offered to be honest"
