The breakfast was great variety but the hot food counter had not been switched on so was all good. This was quickly replaced so no harm done. "After having visited 3 hotels on the romantic route classified 4 stars and a 3 star in Augsburg where we had very good services we were surprised when entering the room: small, old-fashioned, entrance door with key leaving something to be desired as to safety (visible screws). The television remote control did not work as did the trunk. The shower is a cabin with a rim, in short, very far from the services expected for a 4-star hotel. Well, nothing practical either. The only good point is the view.... the rendering of the room in real life does not really correspond to the photos sold."

"The hotel is located outside the old town, but it's within walking distance of the old town and the bus stop. The hotel even provided free bus tickets. The hotel environment is very nice, feeling like it's surrounded by a small forest, very quiet. The only downside was that there was still trash left by previous guests in the bathroom trash can, presumably the housekeeping staff forgot to clean it."

"Good location about 5 to 10 minutes from Fussen station, about 10 to 15 minutes to main attractions in Fussen (e.g. Museum, Fussen castle). Breakfast was tasty. Room was spacious as well, however curtains need to be drawn as the room is facing the road. Otherwise good view, not too noisy when the windows are closed. They provide 2 bottles of water on arrival which is not topped up, also no kettle or other amenities in the room. There is a guest laundry available which is 4 Euros and a dryer as well that’s also 4 Euros. The stay comes with a complimentary Fussen Card which allows you to take the bus to the castles for free, and also have a discounted price at Fussen’s ticketed attractions. Overall a good stay."

"In August 2025, we stayed for three nights at this hotel with our family. In total, we had booked three rooms for ten people, including an eight-year-old girl with a gluten allergy. Due to an unexpected traffic jam, we arrived later than planned. Check-in went smoothly, and the restaurant chef was very helpful. He assured us that a gluten allergy would not be a problem and that we could simply mention it to the breakfast staff in the morning. However, when we did so at breakfast, the conversation was less straightforward. We were asked why this information had not been provided earlier. I had, in fact, already done so: a few days in advance, I had completed a questionnaire in which I clearly stated the gluten allergy. The chef was aware of it. I had also tried to notify the hotel by phone, but there was no answer, even though the website states that they are contactable until 10:00 p.m. In the end, I was reluctantly told to wait ten minutes. We found the overall service to be rather unfriendly, which was disappointing. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were also informed that we needed to place our full order by 8:00 p.m., otherwise no food would be served. We complied, but by 9:00 p.m. everything was already closed. Afterwards, there was only one café/restaurant in the village open until 10:00 p.m., after which everywhere shut. This seems to be typical for Hopfen am See: after 10:00 p.m., there is very little to do or drink anywhere. For some travellers, this might be a drawback, especially for those who enjoy relaxing outdoors in the cooler air after sunset. Despite the beautiful nature, stunning views, and idyllic lakeside location, I would personally not choose this destination again. The hotel is charming but somewhat dated and does not have the needed air conditioning. On a positive note, there was always a solution for parking the car, even when the street was full (paying parking on the street). All in all, I had hoped for a more positive experience, but this review reflects honestly how we experienced our stay."

"An amazing location situated on lake Weissensee with incredible views of the Alps. They offer both vegan and vegetarian options for breakfast. Vegan breakfast options include a variety of German bread, marmalade spreads, nut butter, fresh fruit, coconut yogurt, cakes, juice, and coffee. We stayed in the penthouse suite, which offers apartment style living with a kitchen, 2 bedrooms, living room, and large balcony overlooking the lake with breathtaking sunrise views. The accommodations were excellent and very comfortable. The location is very close to multiple castles and trails with many hiking and biking opportunities."
