"Excellent hotel, very close to the station. There's a 7/11 along the way, so it's very convenient to stop by if you need anything. The hotel is very clean, beautiful, and modern. The rooms have excellent housekeeping and all the amenities. I also want to mention the fantastic views from the window. Breakfast is included; it's mostly of an Asian character, of course, but everyone can find something to their taste. Excellent hotel!"

"The hotel is really well situated, less than 10 minutes from the JR station, and on the same street as the Shrine, so there were lots of places to eat nearby. I stayed in a dorm, which had more people than I expected for a room (I think I saw at least 60 bed/lockers) so it was quite loud even at night as people kept walking in and out. The actual bed was fine, and the people at the front took their time to walk me through what to know for the hostel. The lounge is a little awkwardly partitioned, but at least you get a space to use if you need food.
The dorm itself, I think has a little too many people to be comfortable but is clean enough. The lights never turn off, but because you have a curtain, it blocks out most of it. The largest issue is the noise, since people are coming in and out at random times of the night, and the buttons to open the door are also quite loud when you're trying to sleep. If you want ear plugs, they have them for a fee at the front. Nagano overall was very nice though, and the location made it a lot easier to get around."

"The location of the hotel is excellent just opposite the zenkoji exit of the Nagano station. The receptionist and staffs are also helpful when we needed to borrow electric plug converter and extra pillow. They were helpful in assisting luggage storage early then check in and later after check out. The twin room is big enough to allow for two big suitcases opening and the bed is comfy. Would stay again when I visit next time!"

"Highly surprised with thjs room! So spacious and well-equipped with amenities! Parking is also available although one has to walk abit as it is behind the hotel. There are 2 TV’s and 1 remote so will need to toggle left and right. Bed is good although pillow can be more firm in my own opinion.
With mountain view and waking up to sunrise, what a way to wake up. We didn’t have breakfast so we wouldn’t know about the variety. There’s a convenience store just a few blocks down.
Overall, we enjoyed out stay here in Hotel JAL - specifically this room :D"

"This was a brilliant hotel to stay in, about a 10 minute walk from the train station. The staff at reception were incredibly kind and helpful. We have limited Japanese and no Japanese phone number and they even called our next hotel to help arrange us getting their shuttle bus which we would not have managed alone. The rooms are a little dated but perfectly comfortable. We had a fantastic view from our room. Nice touch have drinks free for guests in the lobby (sake was on offer for some of the evening hours.)"

"It was a pleasant stay as all of us enjoyed the onsen after a long day after exploring Nagano. Location is great as it’s near to the station where you can easily get onto the train and local buses. Room is a bit small for a family of 3, recommend to get a bigger room with additional bed if you have a kid."

DDorcas KL HoWe were drawn to this hotel because my friends and I absolutely love Chateraise cakes! Conveniently located about an 8-minute walk from Nagano Station, the hotel was easy to find. Check-in was smooth, and the rooms were comfortable and welcoming. The best part was the daily treat of Chateraise cakes offered as welcome treats and during tea time—a delightful indulgence. The hotel served as an excellent base for exploring Nagano, with popular sights like Zenko-ji Temple within walking distance. Overall, it was a wonderfully convenient stay.

AAnacrvcostaI had a very positive experience at Hotel New Nagano Next. Even though we only stayed for one night, everything went smoothly. The hotel offers one of the most complete selections of amenities I’ve seen, which was a pleasant surprise.
The staff was genuinely kind and helpful, although their English skills were a bit limited. Despite this, communication wasn’t an issue, and they did their best to assist us.
I’d definitely consider booking this hotel again without hesitation. A solid choice for anyone visiting Nagano!

PPorutoSorry to give you a 3 on location but there’s some lost in translation from English and Japanesenglish happening here in Google maps. As you can see the name is Hotel Livemax in English but it’s not findable in Nagano on Google maps.
The reason being, it’s spelled out in the Japanese pronunciation which is (not to be ****** but it really spells that way) hoteru ribumakkusu
I’m not sure if any other guests have got lost in translation or even worse, not booked the hotel because of this
Do check it out though it’s near to the station and decently priced!

MMisafir KullanıcıThis place is ~5mins walk from Zenkoji temple. neighborhood is peaceful at night.
Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift).
Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room).
We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean.
Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am.
The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD.
Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.

DDemi.9.2Room was extremely worth it's pricing with the cleanliness and you could feel the exquisiteness of the hotel from entering through the main doors all the way to your room.
Walking distance to multiple interesting areas such as Zenkoji Temple and very pretty eateries around the area.
1 extremely disturbing thing was whereby 1 of the huge mirrors by the make up table was right infront of our beds which made my family and I have a paranoid night stay. Other wise everything was top tier!

AAnton VoroshilinThis is an extremely cosy place, but I would not dare describe it as luxurious. It is dated and simple, with the most basic amenities.
However, I liked it a lot. The best part about this ryokan is its owner, an elderly man. He truly puts his heart and soul into his establishment. He even suggested to give us a ride to the station, however the weather was nice and we decided to walk instead.
I'd like to highlight the breakfast: it was gorgeous, given the price. I'd even say it tasted better than a ¥3000 dinner I had at some local restaurant.
The whole experience felt like visiting your grandparents, who live in a village, during the summer.

The staff was very kind and stored my luggage for free, as I arrived early in the morning. The hotel is conveniently located, yet in a rather quiet place. It's a walking distance from both Nagano station and Zenkoji temple (approximately 20-25 minutes), however, do note that the nearest bus stop is about 900 meters away, so if you got a lot of luggage and do not intend to get a taxi, that may be a bit far. They also have coin operated washing machines and dryers, in case you need them. Overall, a great option for most travelers, especially in terms of value for money.
