"Tarihi Lozan Antlaşması’nın (Temmuz 1923) imzalandığı şehirde, Türk, Fransız ve Japon delegasyonlarının konakladığı, kitaplarda ve filmlerde sıkça bahsedilen meşhur Lausanne Palace Hotel’i özellikle bu tarihi atmosferi yaşamak için ziyaret ettik. Ancak ne yazık ki beklentilerimin çok altında bir deneyim yaşadım. Otelin, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluş sürecinde 1. Dünya Savaşı sonrası barış müzakerelerine ev sahipliği yaptığı ve Türk heyetinin aylarca burada konakladığı tarihi geçmişi, ne yazık ki bugünkü çalışanlar tarafından bilinmiyor. Sorduğum her soruya yanıt almak yerine, ben onlara tarihî bilgileri anlatmak zorunda kaldım. Böyle bir geçmişe sahip bir otelin, bu kadar bilgisiz bir kadro tarafından temsil edilmesi gerçekten üzücü. Lobide küçük bir müze bölümü var, ancak Lozan Antlaşması’na dair en önemli çerçeve bile vitrin içinde kötü bir konumda, ters açıyla sergileniyor. Ayrıca Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin ikinci Cumhurbaşkanı İsmet İnönü’nün 6 ay boyunca kaldığı 210 numaralı odanın kapısında ismi dahi yazmıyor. Buna karşılık Coco Chanel’in odasında isminin yazılı olması, tarihe verilen değerin ne kadar dengesiz olduğunu gösteriyor. Otelin tarihi ruhunu yaşamak isterken, maalesef müşteri ilişkileri görevlisi Lea’nın kaba tavırları ve sorularımıza karşı suçluymuşuz gibi davranması, tüm deneyimi gölgeledi. Gerçekten negatif bir enerji verdi.
