"Hotel Whistlelark Jeju was our choice for a 6 days 5 nights stay in Jeju, booked via Trip.com, and overall, the hotel left us with mixed feelings.
On the positive side, the price was reasonable, especially for Jeju standards, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We specifically chose a sea-facing room with a balcony, which came at a slightly higher cost, but it was worth it. The balcony view of the sea was lovely, especially in the morning and at sunset, making it a relaxing place to unwind after a day of exploring the island.
Check-in is strictly at 3pm, so when we arrived early, we left our luggage at the front desk without issue. While waiting, I took the opportunity to take some photos of the lobby for review purposes. Unfortunately, this led to a very unpleasant interaction with a front desk staff member. He abruptly told me that I was not allowed to take photos of the front desk and insisted that I delete the photo on my phone, even demanding to watch me erase it. Despite explaining that the photo was only for a review and did not clearly show his face, he remained firm and intimidating.
What made the situation more confusing was that later, near the lift lobby, there was a banner encouraging guests to leave reviews. The contradiction, coupled with the rude and confrontational approach, left a sour impression. Being told you cannot photograph a hotel lobby — especially in such a manner — felt unnecessary and unwelcoming.
Overall, Hotel Whistlelark Jeju is decent in terms of room quality, cleanliness, location, and sea views, but the front desk experience significantly affected our perception. Hospitality matters, and unfortunately, this incident overshadowed what could have been a more enjoyable stay."
