counter staff member was fantastic and checked us in once rooms were ready, car park is a big advantage and is off street secure., pool up top is flash area. nice rooms which for the budget level were great.

Overall a nice trip, and a pretty fancy hotel for the price. I would consider it more like a 4**** hotel than a 5 star, personally.
highlights:
- beautiful lobby and view from our room of the mountains, beach, etc.
- kind people at the desk and otherwise. very safe inside even though neighborhood is a bit sketchy at times.
- great bed, windows, bathtub, etc..
- affordable as an american for level of service.
- spa and rooftop restaurant are amazing. gym is great too!
dealbreakers: (may stop me from booking next time)
- wifi was basically broken the entire time in our room, and in the hotel at times. less than 10mbits, and no signal in most of our room. front desk said several times they'd fix but I don't think they have the ability to actually fix it. many other people had this issue as well. at a 5* hotel, this should not be happening. major issue, had to do meetings in the lobby to get it to function at all.
- breakfast is *good* but definitely caters towards a local brazilian diet (very few options for vegans). as a vegetarian, I'll just say I ate a lot of eggs and cheese. but hey, that's brazil so not digging on the hotel too much on that.
- elevator is incredibly busy, and there were times where it literally said ”not available” and we had to wait 5 minutes to actually use it.
- there are *TONS* of families with kids in and around the pool when we went. so environment was quite loud and crazy most of the time. they do timeshares so I think mostly big families frequent the hotel.
- we booked and paid extra for the *Junior Suite* (with a large living room as well as bath). the front desk gave us the *room with bath* which ended up being nice.. but is half the size, and refused to put us in the junior suite room, even after showing the reservation. this may be a Trip.com issue instead of the hotel.. but they didn't offer any compensation or flexibility for us. trip did refund us the difference in price though.
overall, its a great deal for the price, and the architecture is amazing, the room is nice, good water pressure. horrible wifi and very few vegetarian options made it difficult to recommend again, but we liked our stay nonetheless.

Hotel maravilhoso, recepcionista que me atendeu no check-in um amor (desculpa não lembrar o nome) sempre todos funcionários muito solícitos, todos muito gentis estao de parabéns, as roupas de cama e toalhas tão cheirosos que dava pra sentir antes de entrar no quarto, sempre fazendo arrumação do quarto impecável quando saíamos, café da manhã uma delicia com bastante opções, sempre fazendo reposição rapidamente, localização boa perto de tudo! 15 minutos de Arraial e perto do Bairro da passagem que é perfeito a noite, estacionamento otimo coberto, piscina gostosa, sauna muito boa! Amamos tudo sem exceção!

Staff universally excellent. All very friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool and bar were a particular highlight. The only downside was the location. You need to take a taxi to pretty much anything other than the mall next door.

Konaklama mükemmeldi, havuz barında ve kahvaltıda olağanüstü hizmet vardı, ancak ilgi eksikliğinden biraz hayal kırıklığına uğradım.
Resepsiyondaki yoğun talep nedeniyle, bir personele oğlumun doğum günü olduğunu ve doğum günleri için bir politika olup olmadığını bildiren bir not bıraktım. Ancak otelde bu tarih fark edilmedi ve herhangi bir yanıt alamadım.
Accor otellerinde genellikle bu tür durumlarda şaşırırız.

El hotel es muy lindo, esta muy bien ubicado, las habitaciones son amplias, el desayuno muy completo, ofrece toallas para la playa o piscina.
Lo único que nos pareció muy mal fue el colchón, estaba muy hundido, era muy incomodo

IIza M.RainbowI’d describe this hotel as utilitarian. No decor or warmth at all. The common areas are spacious and quite bare.Table and chairs at the restaurant are plain brown wood, The lobby is sparsely furnished with some worn , drab and very uncomfortable seats. Bathrooms are the same. Just the very bare essentials, not even a box of tissue paper ( and thin toilet paper) We travelled long hours, arrived at 22:00 looking forward to a good shower …not to be. We were up for a bad start. There was just a trickle of water not enough to bathe or properly brush teeth either. That could have been a whole area problem as we were told that water pressure can sometimes drop in some areas of the city. We changed rooms , water pressure wasn’t much better the next day either, the water flow improved just a little and remained as such the whole week. We had paid for 5 nights and ended up staying as the city was packed that week . To go looking for another hotel during the G20 summit which Rio was hosting that week of November 2024 would not be an easy task.
On the positive side, staff was pleasant and accommodating, bed was comfortable and from our perspective, the breakfast buffet was the best feature of this hotel offering abundant variety of food to meet all tastes- cereal, fruits and cheeses, cold cuts, several hot savory breakfast dishes - incl. some Brazilian regional dishes as well, a huge selection of breads, cakes, good coffee, and more. Very satisfying. Including breakfast in the booking is highly recommended.
The good fare offered at the hotel at lunch and dinner not good at all. However, there are also three of four restaurants lined up on a small stretch within 5 min walking distance of the hotel- one of them is a very good authentic European Portuguese cuisine and wine. Aprox. US$ 52 for a meal for two. On the same cluster of shops there is a well established Brazilian cuisine restaurant with a good menu where one can eat well for anything between US$ 12 to US$ 15 and a steak house similar to the Australian Outback steak house.
There are also other eateries snd convenience shops, a pharmacy on the same stretch ( 5 min walk ffrom the hotel) including a 24 hr laundromat where one can expect to wash and dry a load for about
US$ 7.
As for location, this hotel is not close to the most well known districts of Rio - places like Copacabana, Ipanema , Leblon - but Barra da Tijuca is a special area in itself and arguably has the best beach in town. The hotel is just a 10 - 15 min taxi ride to Barra Shopping- the largest and best shopping mall in the whole state of Rio de Janeiro where one can find anything, including restaurants (recommend trying Jappa all you can eat Japanese food spread for US$ 26 as in Nov 2024).
On the whole , when compared with the fashionable and pricey districts of Copacabana , Ipanema Leblon this hotel is good value for money . I’d stay there again if they fixed the shower situation b’cause this feature matters for me.

MMisafir KullanıcıReally lovely hotel in a nice part of Rio. Staff are really friendly and helpful, especially as I speak English and everyone else is speaking Portuguese. The room was lovely and clean and the cleaners came here everyday to freshen up the room, put fresh towels in the bathroom and change the sheets. The pool was lovely and very quiet which made the experience much better. I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel very much but the one day that I did, there was a good variety of food. Can’t fault this hotel, very pleasant and would definitely stay here again.

Her şey mükemmeldi. Konumu benzersizdir. Plajda havlu ve şezlonglar da bulundurun. Şemsiye ödenir (10 R$).

Я прилетела в Бразилию одна праздновать своё сороколетие и выбрала один из самых дорогих отелей-JW Marriot, думая, что это крутой отель. Но нет. Ни сервиса, ни удобств, заплатив огромные деньги, я не получила. Я приехала в 10 часов вечера (то есть весь день уже был потерян, я не жила в номере) мне оставалось жить ночь и 1 следующий день. Мой ДЕНЬ рождения! Я подхожу на рецепшен, рассказываю, что я приехала к вам праздновать моё День Рождение, я член программы Мэрриот и уже за первый месяц года потратила на ваши гостиницы больше 5000$ (показываю рецепшеонисту и объясняю, что у меня вот вот через 2 часа начнётся ДР, наступит день моего рождения), но (!) меня заселяють в номер на третьем этаже, где нельзя открыть шторы (!), потому что мимо постоянно ходят люди к лифту!! Даже среди ночи! Громыхают, шумят. Я расстоенная возвращаюсь на рецепшен и прошу как-то помочь в этой ситуации При этом вижу, что в номере грязно! Даже грязная простынь!! Неприятный мужчина говорит, что ”У вас вот такая категория номера King room. Ничего поделать не могу. Ну могу повыше этаж найти”.. (А сразу слабо было дать? Повыше этаж и номер не на проходе, где даже нельзя открыть шторы, почему я должна бегать и просить!!!??? Я уже попросила раз: обратите внимание, у меня день рождение. День Рождение, в который дарят подарки и делают сюрпризы, поздравляют!!!
Но видимо совсем не понятливый человек. (Которому я желаю, чтобы его никто в этом году не поздравил с днём его рождения). Далее он предлагает мне ”если хотите, можете ДОПЛАТИТЬ и переехать в другой номер с другим видом” !!!!! Я говорю: НЕ ХОЧУ и ухожу. (Ещё желаю этому мужчине путешествие на другой континент, земное полушарие, в одиночку, где он за всё, за всё платит сам!)
На утро у меня ДР, я ужасно сплю, звукоизоляции никакой, с 6 утра начинаются шумы.... и до самого вечера, до 19 часов я не получаю ни куска торта, ни открытки, ничего. (Хотя далее я переехала в отель Fairmont, в котором на завтраке официанты так душевно пели имениннику песню с Днём Рождения!!! Так что никогда не выбирайте Мэрриот для своего Дня Рождения!!! К вам отнесутся очень плохо!!)
Я всегда путешествую на мой ДР, уже больше 20 раз я встречаю его в разных уголках света и разных гостиницах, и первый раз столкнулась, что нужно что-то выпрашивать и напоминать о том что у тебя ДР!!!
В самом конце дня рождения, в 19 часов я подхожу на рецепшен и прошу позвать главного менеджера, чтобы высказать всё, что я думаю о JW Marriot. Ну и вот тут Тимберли переселяет меня на 1 ночь в номер на высоком этаже с видом на море. За что я ей очень благодарна. И за что я ставлю высокие баллы в отзыве. А тот мужик, что пожалел сделать апгрейд, чтобы человек проснулся в свой ДР счастливым и чтобы продолжал тратить деньги в сети Marriot Bonvoy, а не проснулся разбитым в 6 утра от того, что в его ванне как будто кто то моется (потому что в том номере на 3 этаже была нереальная слышимость, никакой шумоизоляции!!!!) надеюсь будет уволен!!!

MMisafir KullanıcıThis property has the potential to be amazing, but it needs a few key updates. The location is fabulous, the staff is excellent, and the restaurant is great both in terms of service and food quality.
The room was spacious, and the balcony was unbeatable. If you only speak English, you can get by staying here because all of the staff speak excellent English. We encountered a problem when the showerhead broke off, but the repairman came reasonably quickly to replace it, and he was very polite and not disruptive. We ordered room service, and Dom Rio, the hotel’s restaurant, delivered it quickly. I had the filet which was cooked properly to the correct temperature (medium rare). My fiancé had the alfredo pasta which she liked a lot. The breakfast had a huge selection, and everything tasted good.
The only thing keeping this hotel from earning top marks is the general state of much of the decor in the rooms. The curtains look shabby and dirty from moisture, and the wood of the cabinets is warped also. It is very hard to maintain a room that is constantly exposed to salt water and ocean breeze, but the materials chosen have not stood up to age.
I would recommend staying here if you are interested in staying in Barra at a nice but reasonably priced hotel, but don’t expect the finest luxury. Expect a very large, fairly clean room with a comfortable bed and an amazing view.

It’s a very beautiful building and the room is clean, the service was very good, all the employees were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good, with many options, including fruits and local things. We stayed during New Year’s Eve , and we choose a good place to escape from the crowd Copacabana, Praia do Recreio is more quiet and clean, there were some noises from fireworks but nothing comparing to Copacabana.

MMisafir KullanıcıMy first room had the worst stains on the chair and sofa. No way should this room been allowed for check in. I booked a queen bed apartment and was moved to a. Double bed room with a view as trade. I was tired and could not be bothered to argue.
There was an apology by the checkin staff.
The breakfast is average (I came from Salvador where breakfast was amazing).
Housekeeping and services were good - all the ladies were nice and pleasant.
The bed had one pillow and the sheets had holes. There was no spare blanket in the room and the duvet provided was not the best so it got cold on a few nights and was too hot on others.
Shower facilities were good but no skin lotion in the room which was fine as I had my own.
No free water in the room only the minibar too - had to go to ibis hotel next door at like 2am to buy stuff there …both hotels are linked
Generally the stay was mediocre and the area does not have anything to do. It is ok and central for Uber which was a bonus.
Would I stay there again - hardly likely
Would I challenge that I am owed money as the room I paid for is not what I was given - may do …if I have the energy
Hopefully Novotel would reach out to me before that happens

SSantos RoblesLa ubicación no es mala pero siempre es recomendable andar con ojo por los alrededores, especialmente de noche. El área de Lapa tiene una buena vida nocturna y una oferta de ocio y restauración variada. Desde el hotel se puede ir caminando al viaducto de arcos de Lapa y a la escalera Selarón, entre otros lugares.
Las instalaciones son modernas y cómodas. En la azotea hay un bar y una piscina que le dan un punto extra al hotel.
El restaurante está muy bien y el desayuno es bueno, aunque no el mejor que he probado en un hotel de esta categoría. Me encontré cáscaras de huevo en los huevos revueltos.
La habitación es moderna, limpia y confortable. El colchón es cómodo y las almohadas eran un poco blandas para mi gusto, pero estaban bien.
En general, creo que este hotel es una buena elección si quieres moverte por esa zona de Rio de Janeiro.
