Location -
Very good. Opposite Niigata Station, exit from Bandai Square. There is a Lawson opposite (Station side), and a 7 eleven next to the hotel. Located right along an entire street of food. Don Quijote is a 7 min walk away.
Room -
Huge, clean, comfortable. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Lighting was a bit rigid and oddly placed, but not a big deal. Housekeeping does a great job.
Front Desk Service -
Queues on weekends are very long. Check in took 15 to 20 mins on a Saturday. Staff did their best to speed up the process by getting guests to fill up the information cards while waiting.
Staff don't interact or smile much. They can't speak English so you need Google Translate. They had 1 foreign staff on duty (who I assume can speak English on, as her colleague after struggling for so long to understand, turned to ask her before she helped). If not, she just stood there quietly, without offering any help of assistance, even though she immediately knew what we were asking for.
Amenities -
They don't provide the standard cotton wool and buds, have to purchase at extra cost.
There is green tea and coffee sachets provided for you to take in the lobby, as well as ear plugs.
Wi-Fi connection -
Strong connection, but a little spotty as connection will drop randomly.
Onsen/Lounge -
Very small, very crowded. While I was there, only 3 or 4 hair dryers, and all were being used by guests who were hogging it for over an hour as they were applying face masks, etc, so most people left with their hair wet. Weekends are definitely a lot more crowded, so avoid weekends if you can.
There's also a lounge area with 3 massage chairs, books, vending machine and big sitting area on the same floor.

Great and enjoyable stay. Will stay again if we are in Niigata.
The view from the room was an obvious highlight. It’s also got great service, and is very clean, as you would expect from any hotel in Japan. It is a little bit of a walk from the city centre, but there’s regular busses between Niigata station and Toki Messe, so it’s still more convenient than you might expect from looking at the map. Definitely worthwhile!
The hotel is very nice and clean. The hotel is well designed. The room we stayed in the Lodge part is well designed and appointed. Spacious for two people, although we reserved a family suite. There are two different breakfast options, Western and Japanese. The Japanese breakfast option was much better appointed, quiet, and organized. (you are not getting your variety style of breakfast eggs). The Onsen in Arai is very nice, clean, and a nice place to relax after skiing.
As per other information about skiing at Lotte Arai, there is noting else around and as stated, it is not for backpackers, skier/boarders on a budget. The hotel is isolated and not walkable to any stores. As for dinner options, you have to make daily reservations which can be somewhat of a turnoff. The restaurants are not large to accommodate large numbers.
As for skiing/boarding. It can get windy and whiteout conditions. When we were there, the upper mountain was closed one day which limits the number of runs that are opened. Also, there were a lot of avalanche warnings posted and those runs were closed. Safety concerns /warnings are well posted. Did manage to see some boarders that went under the ropes into the out of bounds ang get stuck in waist deep snow.
An excellent stay. The staff were so polite (even more so than I was expecting), and the room was spotless.
It’s a little far from the station, but easily accessible by bus. You can’t miss it as you’re crossing Bandai Bridge.
Very good location! Room is tidy and clean! But the room is a bit hot because there’s no air conditioning! The switches are for heating! The hotel provides free storage of luggages! So good we left our luggages and take a trip to Yahiko village!
One of the newest boutique style hotels in Sado Island. Centrally located, just 20 minutes from the Ryotsu port. Great amenities and it has a hotspring with fancy hair dryers and hair oils. Roof terrace where you can see so many stars.
My wife and I have had a 3-night stay at this Toyoko Inn Joetsu Myok Eli Nishi Gucci Room #1306 from 13 to 16 October 2025.
The Hotel is just a 1-minute walk away from the Joetsumyoko Station. Similar to other Toyoko Inns, the modest reception is on the First Floor and it has limited parking lots on besides the Hotel, and also a bigger open car park about a 2-minute walk away. So we are grateful and thankful that we were given a lot for just ¥300 per day for 3 days at the open car park very nearby. The Hotel staff are polite and helpful, and are not quite able to communicate in simple English.
As the Hotel is located quite away from the city centre of this very small city, so there is no shopping centre nearby except a few eateries are near the Station and within comfortable walking distance.
The hotel room is the standard typical type whereby it is small but very clean. The bed and pillows are comfortable for our liking, and the small bathroom - again the typical Japanese type - is clean and its has strong water pressure for a comfortable shower.
Like all Toyoko Inns, the Hotel provides daily breakfast of simple home cook styles; varieties are limited, but it is very comforting that gives a nice start for the day. Also, it offers free coffee and tea via machines 24 hours daily.
At SGD S$97 per night with breakfast, we find it value for money and we will choose to stay here if we travel to Joetsu or Myoko again.

MMisafir KullanıcıIn general I like this hot spring hotel which was built on the venue containing 16 houses dated back to the 17th century. The hotel itself, its garden and room all look not bad. However the AC at the boutique shop was broken yesterday and it was super hot to shop there. Not sure if it’s repaired today. An opened brush bag without toothpaste was kept in the bathroom- they expected me to use or what? The service and food can both be better - but do not take it wrong - they are already good - it’s just I have a very high standard in particular when we talk about foods. I like the two free liquor - one sale the other plum wine- provided every evening 17:00-19:30 though. :) The Hotel can organise many experiencing and traveling activities and you need to book online ahead. Free shuttle service between the hotel and ECHIGO YUZAWA STATION is provided and you also need to book in advance - very generous gesture.

MMisafir KullanıcıI’m giving my honest opinion. This is my first unsatisfied review for a hotel room. I was very disappointed by the room for the price I paid. I paid more for this room than what I paid for luxury upscaled room near Tokyo Disney. The photos online were very deceiving. When I entered my room, it was gross, i cringed, and my toes curled. I didn’t want to put my belongings down. The carpet was old and disgusting. The pull out couch bed was gross. There were stains on the couch back rest and the mattress. The sheet for the mattress was too small it didn’t cover the stained mattress. The beds were hard and didn’t feel clean. The shower curtain had a bad odor. The room was very dated. Since this hotel is pretty secluded and other hotels were booked we had to make do. I’m glad we only stayed one night. On a better note, the staff were very friendly and service was great. Location for skiing was amazing, and the free shuttle bus was fabulous. Naeba Prince Hotel really need to do better with their rooms. I was looking forward to bringing my entire family of 14 to stay a few nights next year, but after seeing the rooms, I will not stay here again unless they renovate their rooms which are in dire need of upgrades.
MMisafir KullanıcıThe hotel is on the East side of the station which we hadn't stayed before. Its quieter then the West which was nice but still close to some restaurants and the main bus stops for ski resorts. Its about a 5 min walk from the station. We arrived and nobody was at reception and even dinging the bell we had to wait a while. It is a bit of a mess downstairs in reception with the owners clutter but that has nothing to do with your stay so not to worry. We did request a Japanese room if available but nothing was ever mentioned about that and we just got a western style twin. The owner didnt know much english so we didn't want to bother trying to explain. It was clean, neat and every day we got new towels, yukata, new tea, bed made etc. There is a dry room downstairs for your skis and boots and gear and everything was toasty and warm in the morning. You leave the key in the box when you leave each day and get it back from reception once you return, though if we went out for dinner again later or to the konbini we would just keep it on us. You have your own bathroom but they also have 1 Japanese Onsen and you can use it for private and lock the door. It was so nice to have private Onsen as we have rarely been able to have Onsen together in Japan as a couple. It is also a close walk to a Lawson so you don’t have to fight the other tourists for food at the 7 Eleven on the west side. Or you can go to Matsumoto KiYoshi at the station East side. The hotel was quiet when we were there. Perhaps there wasn't many guests or maybe they were just considerate and quiet people. I would stay here again for sure but would like to get a Japanese room next time.
MMisafir KullanıcıNot the most modern. But very cosy and warm, impeccable service and hospitality. Child play facilities inside the hotel (up to 6 or 7 years old). That's a bar for the adults too, open tab until the night. Private onsen is available for 1000jpy for 45 minutes, and is adjacent but separate to the public onsen that is available to hotel guests. Parking is just outside the hotel. Restaurants and snow gear rental is available down the road.

MMisafir KullanıcıRoom was spacious. But overall hotel is old and certain parts of it felt like stepping into North korea. But it was quaint and suited the old town vibes. Hotel provided free shuttle from echigo yuzawa station. Room only had Japanese tea cups and no spoons. Parts of the room had cobwebs and similarly at the onsen. They charged a 150 yen per person per day for onsen regardless if utilised or not. And this charge was not told to us through trip.com or during check in. Staff did not understand English at all. We had to use translator to communicate. The free dinner provided was nice for the first night then it became meh. And they strictly prohibited guests to bring own drinks to dinner as they had a drink menu. 350 yen + tax for a glass of coke. Staff were polite and nice.
