"This hotel is massive. Its comprises of 3 buildings and each building has its own public bath. And one of them has outdoor bath. The room I booked has balcony but it was too chilly to sit outside. Gym and swimming pool are also available but for ¥1,000 fee. Dinner was not impressive but the hotel provided 2 different foods on each dinner during my 2-day stay. Breakfast spread was good but it is buffet style and it was busy and chaotic. The best thing about this location it is very close to Gero station yet the hotel has pick ip and drop off service for every train schedules."

"The staff were so friendly and polite and helpful!!! They had a booklet with English for us, and as it was our first onsen experience, they patiently explained everything we needed to know and answered our questions. The outdoor onsen was beautiful and so peaceful. Food was also delicious and our one night stay was very enjoyable and the amount we paid is definitely worth it. Highly recommend :)"

"In the Takasu Ski district, this is about the most impressive hotel option. Since there is very little dining options in the town of 1 street, we are thankful for the good quality restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The rooms decor is dated but in very good condition, for a moment I felt like I was in an Austrian ski lodge. The onsen was also dated but in good functioning condition. There is on site parking which may not be enough during peak season. Then again, Takasu ski-jo looks like a day trip option."

"Wife and I traveling from the USA. We found this place to be ideal for a pre and post Nakasendo trail hike (although the trail itself was not that special). The staff was friendly and spoke English well enough. The on-site onsen (separate sexes) was clean and perfect for after a hard day’s hiking. Breakfast was fun and a bit of a hurdle if you’ve not had Japanese-style breakfasts. Hotel decor seemed straight out of the 1960s, but it found it charming. One suggestion for hotel: list the times of the free shuttles from the train station more prominently on your website."

"Dormy inn at Gifu is located at a central location. If you take the overhead bridge, it’s a much shorter walk (7 mins) to Gifu train station. The hotel is prominently located so it’s hard to miss despite a short 10 mins walk if you walk along the roads. Eateries every where near the train station too. The room has a warm ambiance and is clean and comfortable (with exception of the pillow maybe too thin). There are no shower facilities inside the room as there is a big onsen for use. Travellers who want personal showers in the room may not be suitable. I love the onsen, it’s clean and nicely designed with stone flooring. There is also free Hershey ice cream, noodles at 9pm and all day nice coffee at the counter. Breakfast is worth it as there are many trademark local dishes you must try. What I love most of the hotel is the service. The staff was very friendly when I ask how to go to Gujo Hachiman and even printed the map and bus schedule. The fact they went an extra mile makes me love this hotel very much. Overall this is an amazing good value hotel that I love and highly recommend if you love onsen, food, good coffee. And excellent service too."

"The third time staying in this hotel over the past 5 years. Disappointingly, no improvement was seen, particularly the quality of food presumably to be of high quality for luxurious rooms with private onsen. Routinized Japanese Haute cuisine with no surprise, four small pieces of signature Hida wagyu could only be seen as a decoration. Yet the price was relatively high with over five hundred US dollars for a two-person one night stay (breakfast and dinner included). The service, the food, the environment, etc. require considerable improvement."
