I found the dinner and breakfast expensive. As the price is expensive than other hotels we expected more variety but it was lesser than where we usually go. So were quite disappointed as I dont eat sea food and paying 3000 for break fast and 5000 for dinner when you dont eat fish is quite expensive and alcohol was quite expensive too.
There was lots of activity to do so we enjoyed that as we reached the hotel before check in time
The hotel is very nice and clean. The hotel is well designed. The room we stayed in the Lodge part is well designed and appointed. Spacious for two people, although we reserved a family suite. There are two different breakfast options, Western and Japanese. The Japanese breakfast option was much better appointed, quiet, and organized. (you are not getting your variety style of breakfast eggs). The Onsen in Arai is very nice, clean, and a nice place to relax after skiing.
As per other information about skiing at Lotte Arai, there is noting else around and as stated, it is not for backpackers, skier/boarders on a budget. The hotel is isolated and not walkable to any stores. As for dinner options, you have to make daily reservations which can be somewhat of a turnoff. The restaurants are not large to accommodate large numbers.
As for skiing/boarding. It can get windy and whiteout conditions. When we were there, the upper mountain was closed one day which limits the number of runs that are opened. Also, there were a lot of avalanche warnings posted and those runs were closed. Safety concerns /warnings are well posted. Did manage to see some boarders that went under the ropes into the out of bounds ang get stuck in waist deep snow.
Love the private hot spring onsen! Will definitely go back again! Staff were nice and helpful too! When we checkout they offered a ride to the station! Saved us walking in the rain with heavy luggages.
Location is good, only a few mins walk to the station and has a few restaurants nearby. If renting the ski or snowboard stuff, also a few mins walk to these local shops.
Was given a room with 2 single beds. When I checked with the reception, they said their level 10 was under renovation and that my booking doesn't give me a choice. This is the first time I was told I don't have a choice to the bed configuration.
Rooms are not sound proof. We could hear voices from next room.
Room is spacious by Japanese standard, and location is good, near to Bandai Pier and fashion shopping. We could walk to the train station in 10 minutes.
Enjoyed our stay.
Room was spacious. But overall hotel is old and certain parts of it felt like stepping into North korea. But it was quaint and suited the old town vibes. Hotel provided free shuttle from echigo yuzawa station. Room only had Japanese tea cups and no spoons. Parts of the room had cobwebs and similarly at the onsen. They charged a 150 yen per person per day for onsen regardless if utilised or not. And this charge was not told to us through trip.com or during check in. Staff did not understand English at all. We had to use translator to communicate. The free dinner provided was nice for the first night then it became meh. And they strictly prohibited guests to bring own drinks to dinner as they had a drink menu. 350 yen + tax for a glass of coke. Staff were polite and nice.

MMisafir KullanıcıIn general I like this hot spring hotel which was built on the venue containing 16 houses dated back to the 17th century. The hotel itself, its garden and room all look not bad. However the AC at the boutique shop was broken yesterday and it was super hot to shop there. Not sure if it’s repaired today. An opened brush bag without toothpaste was kept in the bathroom- they expected me to use or what? The service and food can both be better - but do not take it wrong - they are already good - it’s just I have a very high standard in particular when we talk about foods. I like the two free liquor - one sale the other plum wine- provided every evening 17:00-19:30 though. :) The Hotel can organise many experiencing and traveling activities and you need to book online ahead. Free shuttle service between the hotel and ECHIGO YUZAWA STATION is provided and you also need to book in advance - very generous gesture.
MMisafir KullanıcıI’m giving my honest opinion. This is my first unsatisfied review for a hotel room. I was very disappointed by the room for the price I paid. I paid more for this room than what I paid for luxury upscaled room near Tokyo Disney. The photos online were very deceiving. When I entered my room, it was gross, i cringed, and my toes curled. I didn’t want to put my belongings down. The carpet was old and disgusting. The pull out couch bed was gross. There were stains on the couch back rest and the mattress. The sheet for the mattress was too small it didn’t cover the stained mattress. The beds were hard and didn’t feel clean. The shower curtain had a bad odor. The room was very dated. Since this hotel is pretty secluded and other hotels were booked we had to make do. I’m glad we only stayed one night. On a better note, the staff were very friendly and service was great. Location for skiing was amazing, and the free shuttle bus was fabulous. Naeba Prince Hotel really need to do better with their rooms. I was looking forward to bringing my entire family of 14 to stay a few nights next year, but after seeing the rooms, I will not stay here again unless they renovate their rooms which are in dire need of upgrades.
MMisafir KullanıcıNot the most modern. But very cosy and warm, impeccable service and hospitality. Child play facilities inside the hotel (up to 6 or 7 years old). That's a bar for the adults too, open tab until the night. Private onsen is available for 1000jpy for 45 minutes, and is adjacent but separate to the public onsen that is available to hotel guests. Parking is just outside the hotel. Restaurants and snow gear rental is available down the road.

KKyooTieKeiko was a lovely host. She was super friendly and welcoming to the area. She was available for any questions we had and was also able to provide a freshly cooked breakfast/dinner at a very small cost. There was free parking behind the accommodation which was great as we had our own entry/exit after hours.
The room was spacious, but while the heating wasn't very strong, the bedding was extremely warm and comfortable.
Would be more than happy to stay here again any time we're in the area!
