My biggest mistake of this trip to Yamagata is to book this hotel. It's a good hotel but it's in the middle of nowhere. You will want to stay around the city of Yamagata province which is also called Yamagata city just so you can get to famous tourist spots. However this is 4 hours away from all of these. I had to book another hotel so I can stay 1 day in the city when I wanted to visit these places and the traveling time just completely made me exhausted. It took like 1 day to go to a place and 1 day to go back. It was so terrible, I was crying. This place is closed to Shonai airport not Yamagata airport so I also had to book another flight from Shonai. I wasted so much money for transportation. It was such a terrible experience. However the hotel is incredibly beautiful with smart design in everything. I loved the onsen very much. If it was just a vacation/restcation for relaxing purpose or isolate yourself from the human word, it's the best choice for you. Since its in the middle of the endless rice field, there is nothing to eat except for paying very high price to eat at the hotel's restaurant. And the food was just okay. The beauty of this hotel was like a trap. Its like I was blind from its beauty and couldn't see all other disavantages.

Nice place to stay near restaurants. Staffs are very helpful even though we have arrived late for dinner checkin later going fir dinner first. Having Ugata (Japanese traditional dress) for us to wear either. Big room however there is no private bathroom. Onzen has comfortable and nice.

The location was absolutely unbeatable—right inside the train station, making it incredibly convenient! Surrounded by a wide variety of food options both within and outside the station, it’s a food lover’s dream. The staff were friendly, and the room was spotless and comfortable. Without a doubt, I’ll be staying here again whenever I’m in town!

Rooms are a bit old-fashioned but in good condition. Spacious. Indoor and outdoor onsen available with limited facilities. Location is excellent, less than 10mins walk from the Tsuruoka station and is connected to a shopping mall and a big bus station. Not much restaurants around. Breakfast provided from hotel restaurant but dinner requires prior booking. A supermarket and convenience store are within 5-10mins walk.

It’s quite a big hotel, 3 buildings are connected and there are many rooms. The rooms are a bit outdated but still maintained well. Service was good and flexible. Transportation to the village is quite necessary when the roads are covered by snow, especially with luggage. They have free shuttle bus which is great. Best parts: 1. Dinner semi-buffet has unlimited alcoholic beverages including local sake, draft beer and wines. 2. Ski & board rental shop is right outside of the hotel. Although hotel only accept cash for the lift ticket, you can rent the gear (rental shop accepts credit card) and ski down the hill (20sec) to the cable ticket counter to buy ticket, pay by credit card. The location has lifts 5,6 and cable 4

The minor problem is that the door lock is very difficult to be unlocked. There is instruction to turn counter clockwise but it looks like sometimes work sometimes don’t work. Otherwise excellent.

The hotel is conveniently located equipped with both public and private onsen. It offers free drinks all day around and good dinner. It even allow me to alter the standard menu to suit my eating habit. The lobby has sofas allowing customer to sit there and watch the scenery outside through a glass pane.

Review Petit Resort Hotel Der Barte เมื่อเรานึกถึงโรงแรมญี่ปุ่นเราจะนึกถึง Ryokan แต่อีกแบบหนึ่งที่อาจจะไม่ค่อยมีใครคิดถึงเท่าไหร่ก็คือ 'บ้านที่พักสไตล์ยุโรป' พอดีได้มาเที่ยวแถวๆ Zao Onsen ก็เลยได้หาที่พักแถวนี้ซึ่งช่วงที่มามันช่วงตรุษจีนพอดีมั้ง เลยกลายเป็นว่าเต็มหมดก็เลยได้มาพักที่นี่ Petit Resort Hotel Der Barte เป็นบ้านที่พักสไตล์ยุโรป ไม่ใช่ Guest House นะ เป็นประมาณเดียวกับ Ryokan แต่เป็นสไตล์ยุโรปแทนมากกว่า ข้อดีคือเรียกได้ว่า'ติด'แบบ'ติด'กับลานสกีของ Zao Skii Resort เลย บรรยากาศดี staff ก็ คือเราสามารถเล่น skii ได้เลยนั่นเอง (แต่ถ้าจะขึ้นกระเช้าไปข้างบนก็จ่ายปกตินะ) เหมาะมากสำหรับคนที่อยากเพื่อมาเล่น skii ข้อเสียคือมันอยู่คนละฟากกับ Zao Ropeway และร้านค้า Lawson, Family Mart, 711 อะไรก็ไม่มี ดังนั้นเข้ามาแล้วก็เหมือนกับตัดขาดข้างนอกไปเลย คือไม่มีที่ให้ไปไหน นอกเหนือจาก Zao Skii Resort เลย สรุปโดยรวมคือ ที่พักดี, เหมาะสำหรับการพักผ่อน, แต่ไม่เหมาะสำหรับการสังสรรค์อะไรมากนัก เพราะอาหารที่มีในโรงแรมก็มีเป็นเชิงเหล้า เบียร์ แต่กลับแกล้มไม่ค่อยมี

My husband and I had an amazing time. The staff were friendly and attentive, the dinner was excellent, and the location couldn't have been better.
