"The hotel over looks the flowing river that runs through Gero while also looking at the mountains. Its a great location to easily walk into the town and explore the small shops and offerings there. If you have a chance, definitely recommend booking the room with a private onsen. Sitting in the onsen with the cool breeze from the mountains that came through the window was a great way to start and end the day I was there. The public baths are nice as well and lots of space. Getting around the hotel can be a little tricky sometimes if you don't read/speak japanese, but the staff is very friendly to help navigate the way. I opted in for the breakfast and dinner options and was stuffed. Very great quality and local offerings from the meals and did not even need lunch in between. Great for couples, families and solo travelers."

"An average quality onsen hotel in Gero. Not the best type but also better than many. It is a matter of one's choice in spending more money for better choices or not, as the price range in Gero can be 100% difference for the best and those with much lower price. All onsen are old in the hardware facilities, but traditional."

- Shuttle bus waiting right in front of the train station
- Shuttle bus drop-off every hour in the morning till noon
- the room we booked is really spacious with a western-style room and a Japanese-style room and a private bathroom
- the view at our room balcony is a big bonus
- There are 3 onsens in the hotel which all are good
- Nice buffet breakfast with variety of Japanese food
Cons:
- only one drawback during my stay is other groups of guests whom spoke loudly while using the onsens"

"It was my second hotel in Gero. Staff was very friendly and give me the room in accordance with my needs. The dinner and breakfast was excellent. Just one thing is necessary to take in mind, when you are planning to stay. There are some internal stairs and if you have some problems with legs, it can be difficult to go to some facilities. The onsen on the roof (open) was fantastic, but other one - on the 1 floor - a little bit difficult to catch."

"the place is famous, for thailand theater shows,
foods in many varieties but cant say good. when we check in we are greet by a front desk clerk,with no smile, and tired face.and since i was a foreigner but good in japanese, communication did not go so well though he is not nice explaning everything. but the foreigners workin there is so nice. the ofuro is good but can say not what we expect. in the morning we check out staff were all good and smiling."

"It was a comfortable, family-run Ryokan style inn. There is free parking for those who drive. It is also walking distance from the train station. We arrived after dark and the staff told us there was no more dinner, so they recommended us a dinner place nearby.
For breakfast which was included, it was a full set and really delicious Japanese platter. We ate to our heart’s content. The onsen is located on the basement and the 4th floor, I like it specially for the rooftop onsen. The men and women onsen will swap at certain timings to allow each gender to enjoy the facilities at the rooftop. They give clear instructions on a piece of paper, and you just need to look at the colour of the cloth hanging outside the onsen. The hotel is located near the town centre, so you can walk around easily."

"The hotel is settled in the middle of Gero Hot Spring town, short walk from the train station and can also be reached via bus from Kamikochi area.
The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. You can feel the spirit of older times in this hotel with a lot of beautifully selected decoration pieces.
The manager showed us around and even offered us a new room since I accidentally booked one without shower (we declined that offer since we only wanted to stay for one night). That’s why we used the Onsen area for showering which is beautiful and includes all amenities. View above Gero and including an outside Onsen area to watch the sunrise.
The staff was very friendly, the manager even drove us to the bus station since we forgot our jackets in the bus. The bar is well-equipped and a great place for a drink or two.
One of the best parts was the breakfast. Never had such a good Japanese breakfast before- delicious, served in a private room, beautifully arranged. Next time we want to try their dinner :-)
We felt like family and I can recommend anyone going to Gero to stay at this great hotel! Thanks again for your hospitality!"

"Lovely onsen ryokan. Staff don’t really speak English so there’s a bit of trying to figure things out for yourself. Nevertheless, service was friendly and helpful as best they could. The outdoor onsen is really relaxing and because it’s not a crowded hotel, both times I went I had it to myself as did my wife and kids in the ladies area. We picked the room with its own outdoor onsen tub which is a great option if you don’t want to use the non-private ones. You can apparently book private onsens but they did not have any available for us (possibly because we arrived slightly late in the day). Food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. Kids couldn’t;’quite enjoy the onsens cause they found the water too hot so you may want to make sure your kids can before you decided to splurge. One final point, the ryokan is located down a tiny road on the right just before Google Maps tells you that you have reached."

MMisafir Kullanıcı시설은 다소 오래돼보였지만 전반적으로 깔끔하게 관리하신게 보였어요. 다다미방이 널찍하니 좋았고, 프론트에 계신 모든 직원분들이 친절했어요. 내부 사우나와 외부 온천 두가지가 있었는데 시설이 작은편이지만 제가 이용할 땐 다른 이용객들이 없었어서 동생이랑 둘이 편하게 온천을 즐겼어요. 저희는 반려견은 없었지만 애견인분들을 위한 다양한 공간도 있는 것 같았습니다. 게로역까지는 도보로 12분정도 걸리는데 눈이 많이오고 캐리어도 있어서 샌딩서비스를 이용하고 싶었는데 기사분이 없다고 하셔서 이용하지 못했어요. 대신 직접 택시를 잡아주셔서 다행히 역까지 편하게 이동했습니다. 방 안에 유카타를 비롯해서 다양한 어메니티가 있었고 숙소 바로옆에 게로푸딩, 버터샌드, 여러 기념품샵 소품샵이 있었어요. 로손도 도보 5분거리에 있어서 좋았습니다. 아 근데 층간소음? 방음이 잘 안되고 윗사람들이 걸으면 방 전체가 막 울려요ㅋㅋㅠㅠ 이 점 빼고는 다 너무 좋았습니다.

Service was next to nothing, staff offered Salmon sushi and malt tea at no extra cost as I choosed to skip breakfast to catch up with early bus schedule. The room was very clean and quite spacious.
Dinner and breakfast was in Kaiseki style. The food was excellent, particularly the sashimi and the Hida beef (both grilled and sukiyaki).The use of local ingredients added to the uniqueness of the experience.
The onsen was not big but cozy. Considering the hotel has about 20 rooms only, it offer very good privacy and I enjoyed the public bath twice alone in my 2 days stay. Rental private bath was a good surprise and worth to try if you are traveling in pair.
Location is a bit far from train and bus station up on the top of the hill, but the the pickup service and a nice view of the mountain compensated for that.

AAshauk88One of our best stays during my time in Japan! The staff were very friendly. She shared with us where we should go for onsen, dinner and places to visit. Breakfast was simple but very hearty. We are touched that they considered our food restrictions and adjusted accordingly. Very thoughtful! We could also use the yucata and jacket to walk around town. Love this experience very much! The onsen is also lovely. We highly recommend this place and will definitely come back again. P.s they don't have yamato service if you need to deliver your baggage.

PParmenova JuliaAwesome ryokan with history! Very convenient to get to the place. The train offers beautiful views of the Hida Valley, mountain rivers and cute villages, this already prepares for a super experience. The purple bus will meet you at the station and take you up the mountain.
The ryokan is huge and consists of several buildings. And even if there are many guests in the ryokan, you will get a really calm and peaceful stay. The rooms are in a traditional style, each one is different from the other. The rooms are spacious and very beautiful. The windows open up to views of the mountains, the forest. The ryokan itself is like a labyrinth, you can wander through the corridors and each time find a treasure: private onsens, billiards, a rest room, a viewing site. I took a room with an onsen inside, and I never regretted it. It was wonderful to sit in my own onsen with a view of the mountains and admire the sunset. An unforgettable experience. The public onsen is also great. There is an indoor bath and an outdoor bath with wonderful decoration. The kaiseki dinner is also great. It is brought to your room. It is very tasty, entertaining and exciting. Each dish is elegantly served, served on the most beautiful tableware, which makes it equal to art. I only regretted one thing, that I did not stay longer. This day in the ryokan Yunoshimakan made my trip to Japan unforgettable! Thank you!

MMisafir KullanıcıThe stay in Mutsumikan was very good. The Hotel (Ryokan) is very close to the train station. To the center of Gero it takes roundabout 5 minutes by foot. The experience seemed very authentic. Most of the staff understand basic english, so communication was never an issue. Our room was very clean and tidy. Everything you need for a 2 night trip was there. The outdoorbath was pretty small, but that was never an issue with the amount of people staying there. Breakfast and dinner were in a japanese style and very tasty, but maybe not to everyone's palate. Overall the stay was pretty good and I would stay there again.

We’ve extremely grateful to the hosts for their outstanding service and hospitality from the heart. Loved the thoughtfully varied menu for each meal.
The establishment is spotlessly clean and excellently maintained. Each morning, our towels and yukata (hotel gowns) were replaced. So were the amenities ( fragrant green tea packs, snacks). The housekeeping staff even offered to mop our rooms after only one night’s stay.
The wifi was also fast and sustained well in the guest room and public lounge areas. There are facilities to cater to a wide range of age groups from seniors like us and children too. There were ample resting chairs in the lounge and on the way to the historian’s well as guest rooms.
The best facility was the hot springs! They are
exactly as depicted in the hotel website. Numerous indoor pools of various temperature all have the renowned ‘beautifying’ odorless alkaline water. My skin felt so smooth and moisturized after only one soak.
What’s more the hot springs stay open for in-house guests from 10.30 am to 11 pm and day-trip visitors from 10.30 am to 8 pm. In-house guests can also use the hotsprings early from 6 to 9 am. There is a European dry sauna as well as wet steam rooms in both make and female hotspring areas.
We would love to stay here again!

Ssjf1986aaa和隔壁富岳是姐妹酒店，還沒走到門口酒店的老爺爺就過來確認是否是入住的，人員名字都對上了，走的時候也是，預約了穿梭巴士，很早老爺爺就在門口等着我們，我們出門逛還貼心的為我們準備地圖，老一輩日本人服務真的沒的説，早晚餐有專門的房間吃，味道還不錯，房間有私湯，打開窗户就是户外私湯嘿嘿，還有樓上樓下幾個湯池，老婆一天泡了三遍，把所有湯池都泡了，下呂不大，就適合慢慢的逛半天，吃一些小吃，回酒店品嚐美食，看看雪，泡泡湯

There is private onsen that can make reservation with 3,000 yen.
Anyway the ***** bath also available. It’s great view on public bath. Onsen in this town is clear water.
English speaking staff with Kimono also good.
Hotel also provide dinner in your room and breakfast at FL.2.

But the building is pretty old and the rooms are not that clean. The meals are decent but not that great.
The onsen pool is also quite old but open 24 hr.
