"Great location, making it only a short drive to nearby attractions sites. The service upon arrival was very welcoming. One of the Japanese lady at the front desk spoke really good English and we spoke about nice places to eat so that was nice. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was soft and comfortable. The room had an open floor layout, which meant that there is no wall between the bed (room) and the bathroom. However, upon taking a closer look I moved that there are sliding dots that shoes you to create a wall between the two areas, so that was a cover design. In terms of amenities there aren’t many. There is a communal area behind the reception which has a communal kitchen that has toasters, microwave, coffee machine, cutlery and I think that’s it. There is a vending and a small laundry room (which you have to download an app so that you can pay to use). Finally, it is worth mentioning that the view from the room was simply gorgeous. Waking up to such a view makes you happy and excited. Overall, it was a really countable stay."

"Wonderful hotel 🏨 ♥️ 👌 We feel it's a real 5 stars hotel; from the excellent service, the rooms and on to the dinning room, and of course the onsen, everything and everyone were just perfect! We got a room facing the garden, forest and mountains and it was just great waking up to these views in the mornings. The experience of food was excellent, both at breakfast and dinner... The staff here go out if their way to make sure you have what you need, and the onsen was the best one I have seen in Japan so far; it has several hot baths, indoor and outdoor, and dry sauna. We were extremely happy we booked this place ahead of time as it was fully booked when we arrived and there wasn't even availability to upgrade, even though it wasn't needed as the room was great already. Thanks for everything 🙏"

"We had a great stay at Kamenoi Hotel Aso Park. We booked a room in the South Building, which was spacious,clean, and had a large, comfortable bed. The hotel provides yukata robes in various colors, which was a lovely touch for guests to enjoy the onsen experience. ♨️ The onsen was large and relaxing — perfect after a day of exploring Aso. 🚗 Parking was very convenient, located right next to the hotel. Just across the parking area, there’s a 24-hour convenience store called Obentou Hirai offering ready-made bentos, hot meals, ramen, and udon — extremely convenient for late-night snacks or quick meals. 🍱 We chose a room-only package without meals, and in the morning, we visited the local souvenir and food center at Aso Station. It had a great selection of local foods and breakfast options, plus plenty of gifts and souvenirs to bring home. Overall, a comfortable stay with everything we needed nearby. Highly recommended if you’re exploring the Aso area!"

"The Golf Course with view of Mt Aso is beaitiful. We opted for dinner and breakfast and both meals were very good. Service staff were friendly and helpful. The drive in to the hotel is rather far, good to have your own car. The hotel has shuttle service as well."

"I was welcomed by the grandpa who happened to be ********* so we could chat every night. He provided me with many recommendations regarding the activities and restaurants nearby. He even brought me by car to the starting point of one of the trails in Aso park! There were fruits and many kind of snacks, the room was super clean and comfortable (the only drawback is that it’s slightly pricey). Miyaji is not exactly next to Aso station but you can borrow a bike from the guesthouse, it’s ~20 min away, or take the train (1/h) or a bus (the owner has the timetable). The advantage of miyaji is that it’s closer to Aso « downtown » where you have many restaurants and the shrine (but many of them are closed at night)"

"Like the onsen in the hotel; onsen water is good and big enough for 6-7 person to use. Japanese breakfast served by staff was quite substantial and tasty. The room that we stayed is quiet and faces mountain and park. Bathroom a little small but clean. There wasn’t any wardrobe but there were hooks on the wall and hangers were provided."

"The hotel is a bit dated but clean. Most of the customers are Japanese locals. Dinner and breakfast are buffet style with a good selection of food. Very good value for the price. There are family baths available with no additional charges."

"The onset was good in that hotel as it had both rooftop and open pool and I found that the water healed my painful water. The room looked a bit old to me but I guess I could have chosen a modern look. The hotel receptionist was kind to recommend us where to go for dinner. I think it is one of the best hotels if you stay near Mt Aso."

在阿蘇寧靜山區中的高級傳統溫泉旅館，不可能期望會有鐵路或公共交通工具直達吧！只適合自駕遊的人士，去最近的便利店駕車4分鐘就到。 服務好得不能再要求更多，非常有善，服務員能用簡單英文溝通。早晚餐都很美味，在獨立房間內進食。原本有和牛跟馬刺身，但由於我們都不吃，check-in 時說明，服務員都很努力幫我們跟廚師溝通改為鴨肉跟生魚片。 房間非常大，電視是大尺寸的Sony 近年新款的智能電視，Wifi 穩定，可以待在房間泡溫泉、躺在沙發耍廢看YouTube，不怕晚上沒事做。 整間飯店只得7間房，所以住客不多。房間已有獨立泡湯，晚上還可以用大浴場（有室內和室外） 再任用5間獨立湯屋，泡得非常爽！ 下次如有機會經過阿蘇做中途站，一定會再來！

As the first stop of my birthday trip, I chose Aso. Having previously worked as a hotel management professional, I had high expectations for the hotel’s facilities and services. My stay at Kakuman Hotel, along with my traveling companions, was thoroughly enjoyable—from check-in to the overall amenities, everything exceeded our satisfaction. The staff we encountered were exceptionally friendly, whether at the front desk or in the restaurant. Additionally, experiencing hot springs for the first time left us feeling deeply relaxed. Thank you to Kakuman Hotel for adding color to my journey.🙏🏼 While every aspect was highly satisfying, there was a minor shortcoming: the majority of diners in the restaurant were Korean tourists. On my second night, a small incident occurred during dinner. The server assigned me a seat where only tableware and a departure-time notice were placed. After I retrieved my food, I found three Korean guests (two elderly individuals and a middle-aged man) preparing to sit there. I was confused whether I had taken the wrong seat or if there was another reason, so I asked the guests. Unexpectedly, the man loudly called over the female server who had arranged the seat and sharply questioned her in Japanese. The server later found me the correct seat, which was at the table adjacent to the three guests. I felt deeply sorry for the female server being unjustly scolded, and I also did not understand why the Korean man needed to accuse her in such a loud tone—I would have been happy to apologize for my misunderstanding. Regarding the above incident, I would like to offer a suggestion: the tables in the restaurant are each equipped with a bucket of tableware and wet wipes, but there are no numbers or markers to identify the assigned seats. Guests can only rely on placing their own items or memory to remember their seats. I believe I am not the only one who has encountered a similar issue, and the hotel may consider adding markers to each table to make it easier for guests to recognize their assigned seats.
