"Even I received a free upgrade for a night the stay was not so comfortable.
First I did not find a pick up at the Airport to the hotel. It was not possible to reach the hotel by Phone.
Second my room was far away from the elevator and the floor a deep carpet.
Third the dinner at the afternoon was 40 RMB more expensive than on the poster advertised. Most of the buffet was a typical hotpot.
The free Shuttle back to the Airport was ok, the rooms are exklusive and great, free Softdrinks, free tea and coffee… breakfast might be better."

"Service from reception and housekeeping was excellent, the room was spotless, and breakfast was decent. Also, location-wise, it was good as it is near key attractions such as Daminghu. However, breakfast was a little underwhelming for the price. Maybe you can try eating at a nearby place instead, but the overall hotel was still great."

"It’s within walking distance to Jinan Railway so it’s a good hotel to consider when you are using HSR - but do note that most HSR will go to Jinan West station which is not so near tourist attractions. I cab almost everywhere from this hotel as Jinan’s road traffic is chaotic, making walking to nearby tourist attractions a bit overwhelming for foreigners. It’s not near the metro station but don’t use metro, as it does not lead you directly to attractions like what other China cities do and you need to figure out the transfers.
That said it’s within walking distance (20-30min careful walk dodging all the charging scooters and unfriendly cyclists) to the more decent attractions like their old CBD area which is great for street photography. If I am to choose again I’ll stay nearer to the spring clusters since I’m going to cab everywhere anyway as those area seems more vibrant.
In addition this hotel appears to host big groups which make having a peaceful breakfast impossible. When I’m trying to have an early breakfast as early as 7am when breakfast start serving so that I can start my day early, I was shocked to see the entire cafeteria crowded with tourists. I have to delay the breakfast for 40min so that I get a place to eat in peace."

"The hotel is close to Airport and I took Didi around 15mins to arrive. Hotel is new, clean and tidy.
Breakfast is good and delicious and will high recommend to you if you go to Jinan and I definitely will stay here next time."

Room always clean and tidy. Laundry room has 5 washing and 5 drying machines - I loved it. Location near metro but not many shops. However, I just have to walk for less than 10 mins to reach shops and restaurant.

LLaishichunzhishuangxuerong非常好大概率是我住過最好的青年旅舍了。旅舍在十幾層，內部是大平層，地板乾淨整潔，客廳有健身器材，還有個非常大的書房空間（和教室差不多大，晚上放電影），落地玻璃外面就是大明湖以及大明湖火車站，書房西側有觀景平台，下面就是車水馬龍的北園高架橋，但隔音特別好，門一關什麼聲音都沒有。床位是木製的，很寬敞，內部有茶座、有空調，上鋪是小樓梯而非梯子，上下很方便，每個人都有一個能上鎖的櫃子，東西放裏面很安全。
洗手間是較大的公共廁所，有多個隔間，不用排隊。此外，還有一個專門的行李房可以放行李的。
旅舍白天長期有人值守，但太晚了前台也會去睡覺。老闆態度非常好，能給到很棒的美食推薦和旅行攻略。
濟南旅行地鐵不好使，但公交非常發達。酒店底下就是北園高架，有BRT也有很多普通公交。北園地鐵站距離旅舍步行也就500多米吧。如果去大明湖，有一條從膠濟鐵路底下穿過去的小路，終點就是大明湖北門。山東博物館過來坐BRT6就是到那邊。不過晚上走有點黑，白天建議從北園高架那邊坐公交車去大明湖正門。
老闆非常熱情，原本我定的是第二天凌晨一點從大明湖火車站離開的K車，老闆直接爽快地批准我第二天半夜在書房呆到凌晨，暖氣什麼的通通有，行李也能寄存。不過最後由於自己的原因改簽到濟南站走，也就沒有再回去了。總之我強烈推薦這家旅舍，下次來濟南如果方便一定還來這！

First and foremost, the cleanliness of the room left a lasting impression. Immaculate and well-maintained, it truly reflected the hotel's commitment to providing a comfortable environment for guests. The inclusion of complete toiletries further enhanced the overall experience, ensuring that every essential was readily available.
The hotel's strategic location near Jinan Railway Station and its accessibility to public transportation were major advantages. This made exploring the city a breeze, and I appreciated the convenience it added to my trip.
One of the standout features was the culinary experience. The on-site dining options offered a diverse range of delectable dishes, leaving my taste buds thoroughly satisfied. Although the absence of coffee was noted, the rich variety of other beverage options more than compensated for it.
The toilet facilities were not only pristine but also surprisingly innovative. The sound-proof design allowed for a private and serene experience, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. The added touch of background music created a unique ambiance, transforming the bathroom into a personal concert space.
I must commend the receptionists for their exceptional hospitality. Their welcoming demeanor and willingness to assist with any inquiries added a warm touch to the overall stay. It was evident that the staff was dedicated to ensuring guests felt comfortable and well taken care of.

The hotel is pretty and I booked it for 1 night as a luxury treat so I could get a good rest for my layover stop to another destination. My room smelt like stale smoke unfortunately, though I had asked for non-smoking. I paid extra on my booking for breakfast and had to wake up at 6am, eat breakfast at 6.30am and go to the airport at 7.20am. My room had a bathtub so I took a bath before bedtime and went to bed at midnight, I got up to go switch the lamp off at 1am and found this bug crawling up the side of my bed going towards me. I think it's either a tick or a bed bug, the body was full of blood. It had 6 or 8 legs, difficult to see but I took a video which doesn't allow me to upload. I don't have any problems with normal bugs such as spiders, but if it is a tick or bedbug it is a big problem. I was really worried there were more hiding inside the bed, I called reception for help and they looked at the bug which I caught in a glass cup. They apologised deeply and changed my room, so I had to move at 1.30am. I explained I was already tired and have to wake up early. In the new room I was unable to sleep as I kept worrying about bed bugs. I got up multiple times to check my bed. And there was a noisy couple next door talking loudly until very late so I couldn't sleep. For a luxury hotel you should not need to loose a whole night's sleep because you are worried about bedbugs or ticks biting you. Nor should be able to hear noise from other guests through the wall. I was extremely exhausted the next day and did not have any appetite. I asked if they could refund the extra I paid for breakfast because I couldn't eat it, but they said it wasn't possible. So I forced myself to try eat 1 egg and some small rice porridge but couldn't finish it. Really expensive to pay for breakfast and hardly eat, it's a shame they couldn't refund the breakfast considering I had no sleep. For a 5* hotel, I would like to have good rest and peaceful sleep. But it was not like that. The staff were very kind and helpful, but it's not so easy to travel here alone. It was not easy to book a taxi for the following morning to the airport and it took 40 minutes of assistance, the man was very kind and helpful, but the hotel should make an easier system for foreign guests to book taxi. When I first arrived in Jinan airport, I had no idea how to get to the hotel. There is no ATM inside the hotel so you cannot withdraw cash, and you cannot pay with foreign card to book a taxi. The shangri-la website did not provide any details for public transport. It simply said bus transfer was available but did not say which number bus. I would give the details here but I have forgotten the route name and bus number now as it was hectic and I was very tired, sorry. I had to waste a lot of time trying to ask for help at the airport as the staff did not speak English. Luckily someone helped me. The bus will cost 20yuan and take you into the centre where you will see the intercontinental hotel and a large shopping mall on the left side of the bus, get off at that stop, it takes 1 hour. From there it's only 5 minutes walk to shangri-la. For a big hotel they should provide easy instructions on the website to guests.
The staff apologised deeply for the bug on the bed, and offered 10% reduction of the room rate. Although when I checked out no refund was given and they didn't mention anything about it, I think they just charged full price. Personally I think 10% is not enough anyway. Nobody wants to change rooms at 1.30am because of bugs crawling on the bed. I didn't get any sleep at all and felt itchy because I kept thinking about bugs and couldn't eat the breakfast. I was absolutely exhausted the following day so I was unable to do anything at my next destination and had to waste 1 day more to rest. Unfortunately not an easy experience at the shangri-la.

According to Trip.com’s grading system, The Madison Hotel is listed as a Trip Plus 4-star hotel, but based on our recent stay, we believe it falls short of that rating. While we had a mostly pleasant experience, there were noticeable issues that prevent us from agreeing with the 4-star classification.
The Positives
- Check-in & Staff: The reception team was friendly, and one staff member could communicate a little in English, which was helpful.
- Room Comfort: Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with a very comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked well and allowed individual adjustment.
- Amenities: We appreciated the complimentary bottled waters and two soft drinks restocked daily in the fridge.
- Location: The hotel is conveniently located inside Wanda Mall, making shopping and dining easily accessible.
The Negatives (Why It’s Not 4-Star)
- Cleanliness Issues: The room wasn’t cleaned to a 4-star (or even 3-star) standard. We found nail clippings on the bedside mat, indicating poor vacuuming.
- Shower Water Pressure: The water pressure in the shower was quite low, which was inconvenient.
- Breakfast Limitations: While the Asian food options were good, there were very few Western choices. Additionally, the Western cutlery felt sticky and wasn’t properly cleaned.
- Staff Sleeping at Reception: On our second morning, when we tried to check out early, the reception staff were asleep on the couches. We understand they may have been exhausted, but this is unprofessional for a 4-star hotel.
Final Verdict
The Madison Hotel is a decent option, but we’d rate it as a solid 3-star hotel, not 4-star. If you prioritize location and comfort over luxury service and cleanliness, it’s a reasonable choice. However, management should address housekeeping and staff training to meet higher standards.
Would we stay again? Possibly, but with adjusted expectations.
