"Polite, friendly staff who understood and spoke fluent English. They really made up for our past 12 days trip whereby we faced with language barrier.
The free breakfast from 6am was a bonus for us as we needed to catch an early flight at 7.55am.
However, we met with two discomforts; We could feel the spring in both mattresses whenever we lay on our sides. The other was we felt some itch on our body when we lay on the mattresses. We concluded could be caused by the laundry detergent used as the room was rather clean and not dusty.
Overall our one night stay was satisfactory. Thank you!"

Marukoma Onsen Ryokan is truly a hidden hot spring hotel that few people know about. It's a rare outdoor hot spring hotel in Hokkaido, directly facing the unfrozen Lake Shikotsu. The scenery is incredibly beautiful!
However the transportation is terrible 😞😞😞. It's close to New Chitose Airport, and is too far away from the city. There are only 3-4 public buses per day and it took hours to get there. 🥹🥹😭😭😭 But if you're driving on a self-drive trip, then forget it.
The hotel occupies a large area by the lake, and there are no restaurants around since its secluded location 🥹🥹. If you don't book meals in advance, you can only buy instant food from the hotel's convenience store. Fortunately, you may have a high chance of encountering deer.
Anyway, the outdoor hot spring is free. In the morning, there are usually no people around, so you can take photos.
Private Hot Springs: There are two private hot - spring pools, one indoor and one semi -enclosed facing the outside. But! You must book it during the daytime. It gets dark early in winter. If you booked it at 7 p.m. then you couldn't see anything.
The breakfast is good."

"What a lovely stay to sum up our travel in Hokkaido!
We booked a night at this Hotel as our flight was first thing in the morning and it didn’t disappoint! Everything was perfect! The room has a lovely Japanese vibes to it. It is spacious, very clean, the bed was huge and the mattress so comfy. The window overlooks the runway. The personnels’ service was tip top! And the onsen was the icing to the cake. The room provided bath robes, yukatas and lovely pairs of japanese slippers. My girls utilised the gym too!
The Airport is lively and has many stores selling all kinds of things including souvenirs and food! It’s just convenient!
We just wished every hotel is like this one. Thumbs up Portom!"

"This place is good for couples and people staying near chitose and price was cheaper as well. The amenities was good and they had free massage chair, onsen, kids play area, free coffee service and free shuttle bus service.
Disadvantages: shuttle bus pick up from airport is available only in evening time which was bad since we arrived in morning and had to take public transportation to reach hotel, the staffs during checkin time at evening was not with good attitude but staffs in morning was much better, greeting with smiling face and talk much kindly to customers."

The food is fabulous too, I really enjoy the French dinner and the Japanese breakfast. It was a quiet and wonderful experience in Lake Villa Suimeikaku and we'll come back again.

YYi ShieanFrom the moment we arrived at Mizu no Uta, Tsuruga Resort at Lake Shikotsu, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of tranquil luxury. Valet parking greeted us, and we were swiftly escorted to a path lined with zen music, setting the tone for a stay where every detail exudes serenity.
Upon entering the reception, a majestic wooden carving of an owl, a powerful symbol of protection in Ainu culture, watched over us. In a delightful and intimate touch, we were asked to remove our shoes – a gesture that immediately made the resort feel like a sanctuary. Walking barefoot on soft wooden floors in such a refined environment felt like the ultimate indulgence.
Live harp music floated through the air as we were led past a live fireplace, its warm flames inviting guests to roast marshmallows, adding a whimsical, yet homely feel to the elegant surroundings. The staff, attentive yet discreet, escorted us to our room via separate lifts, ensuring our luggage was seamlessly handled.
Entering the room, we were struck by its sheer spaciousness. A half-sized fridge, thoughtfully included, perfectly stored all our chilled treats from the road trip. But the true star was the view: an uninterrupted panorama of lush greenery, stretching out to meet the serene waters of Lake Shikotsu. The combination of the stunning scenery and the luxurious in-room robe made us feel like chaebols, lounging in opulence and shielded from the cool lakeside breeze.
As for the dining, the buffet at Mizu no Uta is nothing short of spectacular. Where many buffets struggle to balance quantity and quality, this resort excels at both. Highlights included a live dessert station and a live pizza-making corner, where thin-crust pizzas, surprisingly better than those from Furano’s famed Cheese Factory, were expertly prepared. The spread also featured an incredible assortment of sashimi – the freshest I encountered during my 1.5-week trip across various hotels. The salmon and mackerel, both raw and uniquely marinated in glass jars, were exceptional.
The hot dishes maintained the same elevated standard. A simple tomato-based clam spaghetti was transformed by the quality of ingredients, while even the sautéed kailan was enhanced with the addition of Parma ham. Local produce, such as the fresh broccoli used in the cream-based dishes, lent an unmistakable brightness to each bite. The combination of Japanese and Western cuisine was balanced beautifully, with every plate delivering a sense of thoughtful craftsmanship.
Of course, no stay at a lakeside resort would be complete without a visit to the onsen bath. While slightly smaller than the one at Lake Akan, the onsen here is far superior in cleanliness and upkeep. Conveniently, the bath is stocked with towels, so there’s no need to carry your own from the room. The experience is further enhanced by a sauna illuminated with soothing blue light, adding a layer of tranquility to the ritual. The open-air onsen is another highlight.
For those who appreciate the purity of nature, the bath even features drinkable Lake Shikotsu water, renowned as one of Japan’s top 100 spring waters. This thoughtful touch, coupled with the stunning views, creates an immersive experience that is equal parts restorative and luxurious.

EEddie SngOur stay at the ANA Crowne Plaza Chitose was great. The location is central and close to many amenities like shopping mall, eating places and a short walk to the train station. Parking is free and the staff are very warm and welcoming. Service quality is very good - staff are polite and helpful. There is even a convenience store located in the hotel that is opne from 0600hrs to 2359hrs. Rooms are much larger than those in Sapporo and Tokyo and the shower area is big too.

They have onsen, which is great. Location is near to Aeon which has everything you need.
Only problem is they split all our 3 rooms far apart. Hence the deduction in service mark. 2 rooms both at opposite far end of the corridor. And another room on a different floor. Tried to talk to the counter to put us all on the same floor at least, but he couldn't understand our request. Only keep informing me that we have 2 rooms on 1 floor and 1 room on a different floor. Which was exactly my point to request for change of rooms.

MMisafir KullanıcıThe hotel staff is very nice in helping us checking in and gave us 4 tokens for the vending machine (we're a group of 5). Each coin worth 150 JPY. The onsen is clean and safe, separate floor for men and women onsen. For women, there will be a code to enter when entering the onsen on the 14th floor. The room is clean and the AC works well. Great overall experience. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to the airport. 8 people per bus.
