"Both left and right are surrounded by either pub or karaoke lounge. Not recommended if need a peaceful stay & good night sleep. However, it has good basement car parks to ensure safety parking. Hopefully the hotel will do better sound proof to all windows especially all superior rooms."

"Check in was quick and smooth, and the reception staff were courteous and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and the bedding was comfortable, which made for a pleasant stay. The hotel has taken steps towards sustainability, and we appreciated the unlimited filtered water provided, which reduced the need for bottled water.
The breakfast spread was excellent with a good variety of options, and we really enjoyed that part of the stay.
A couple of points to note. The air conditioning in the room was not very strong, and we did feel a bit warm at times. The hairdryer was also on the weaker side, which made drying hair slow.
Overall, a comfortable stay with good service and a strong breakfast offering, with minor improvements that could make the experience even better."

"Was there to attend a wedding reception which is walking distance from the hotel. Very nice and beautiful scenery of the golf courses surroundings. Have watched the sunset and sunrise during the day despite the weather. Breakfast served at Rooftop Cafe were excellent and importantly most of the staffs are friendly, helpful and always served with a smile. Even the security staffs and buggy drivers are friendly too. Great place for a quick getaway."

"Staying at Mega Hotel was a good experience. The room was spacious with super single beds and very clean. Toiletries were complete — even included a sewing kit and shoe polish, which is my first time seeing any hotel provide. There was also a proper workspace, perfect for my outstation work trip.
Cuma satu je, bidet dia bukan jenis hose… kita ni Asian 😂.
Overall, still a comfortable and satisfying stay."

"This was my first stay at Mercure Miri City Centre, and it left me with a very positive impression and a pleasant experience overall. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout my stay. The room was cozy, with sufficient space to move around comfortably, and the housekeeping service was done very well. I will definitely choose to stay at this hotel again on my next visit to Miri. As a nice bonus, the hotel even offered complimentary gelato ice cream during check-in—such a delightful treat!"

"We had a pleasant stay. The room was spacious. The food was great, and maybe for breakfast selection can add some ”kuih-muih” too. The view from the swimming pool is also nice, just that the edge of the pool, where the waters are draining down, need to be clean, seems like it's not being clean for ages...it was green ..
Overall, it is a good place to stay, and just next to the shopping mall."

"The service was very unprofessional. I informed the staff several times that the key card could not open the door, but no action was taken. Later that night, when we returned, we were locked outside for more than 10 minutes while they investigated. Only then did they tell us the issue was due to a dead battery, and the door was finally fixed.
That said, the environment, cleanliness, and pricing were good, and we were satisfied with everything else except the service.
I believe this situation deserves some form of compensation or at least a proper gesture from the hotel. The staff mentioned that they would check with their manager, but we never received any follow-up or response."

We have returned to the City Rise Hotel three times previously, and our excellent experiences led us to leave positive reviews and recommend the hotel. Unfortunately, our fourth stay was highly disappointing and felt drastically different due to apparent overbooking and a failure in resource management, particularly during peak times.
Connectivity Issues
Our stay began with a frustrating technical glitch. While initially connected, the in-room TV lost its Wi-Fi connection. When attempting to reconnect to the guest network, the on-screen keyboard necessary to input the password did not appear. While this was a minor issue for a single night's stay, the overall Wi-Fi speed was extremely poor, which we suspect was due to the unusually high number of guests placing a strain on the network.
Chaotic and Inaccessible Breakfast (Major Concern)
The biggest issue arose during breakfast, which has always been a highlight of our previous visits. We arrived at 8:30 AM, well within the expanded serving window (6:00 AM to 10:30 AM). The dining area was beyond packed, it was chaotic. There was a significant queue just to enter, and once our room number was ticked off by the staff (meaning we were recorded as having consumed breakfast), we quickly realized there were zero available seats. Approximately 20 guests were standing, plate in hand, waiting for an empty table, and there was no crowd control, with people blatantly cutting the entry queue.
My husband approached the staff to suggest opening an adjacent hall, as we had seen done during previous busy stays. The request was denied, citing that the hall was reserved for an event. He then asked if we could, at least, take a plate back to our room given the seating crisis, but this was also denied. We questioned the difference between taking food to the room and standard room service, but the decision remained firm.
Ultimately, due to the extreme overcrowding, the stress of competing for a seat, and the lack of any proactive management of the situation, we chose to forego breakfast entirely. Despite not eating, our room was already marked as having utilized the service. This was particularly frustrating as we were checking out soon and did not have time to wait for the situation to resolve itself.
Severe Parking Congestion
The strain on the hotel's capacity was also evident in the parking area upon our return in the evening. The parking lot was full to an unprecedented degree, with cars parked illegally and inappropriately in areas like the main entrance, highlighting a clear lack of available space and regulation.
Verdict from us?
It appears the hotel management may have dramatically overbooked the premises without scaling key resources (like dining space and parking) to match the guest load. The capacity for breakfast was clearly exceeded. We highly recommend that the hotel implements stricter occupancy rules, re-evaluates its dining capacity (perhaps revisiting the policy of opening secondary halls, which worked well in the past), and verifies the number of guests receiving complimentary breakfast to prevent overcrowding.
While we have always loved the City Rise Hotel, this visit's lack of preparedness and poor handling of the breakfast situation has seriously damaged our opinion, and we will hesitate to book again during what appears to be any peak period.

Disadvantages to consider :
1. Room had cockroach crept up on my son at the sofa the day we were leaving🤣
2. The toilets shld be tiled with anti slipping. Very slippery when wet.
3. Air conditioning temp looks centralised and can't be controlled.
4. Swimming pool / and its water is not that clean.

upon step into the hotel lobby you can smell the bad wet moisture near to the receptionist and also in our bedroom. u can see the black stain on every wallpaper due to the wet moist. telephone in our room is only for display. there is no telephone cable connected. have to walk down the lobby to request for toothbrush only provided upon request.
Floor carpet is not light colour as shown in the picture, its dark colour now.. they should have done proper cleaning or maintainance. Our room didnt have fridge and the lightning of the room is very dim.

Miss Nisa is very helpful to inform me the unit that we supposed to stay according to my booking have problem with their air-conditioning. So she change it to another unit. We really enjoy staying at Bay Resort. We can brisk walk and sight seeing. There's a lot of Chinese restaurants nearby too. Its a great experience to us as this is our first time coming and staying in Miri. This place is recommended to travellers with families who loved beaches and love to listen to the sound of the waves.

The front office staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making me feel right to choose and ensure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.
The room was spotlessly clean, cozy, and well-maintained. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, providing a great night's sleep. I was also pleased with the amenities provided, including fast Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and complimentary toiletries.
The hotel's location was ideal, conveniently situated near local attractions and public transportation is easy to call. It made exploring the area so much easier.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an exceptional experience at a great value. I look forward to returning on my next visit!

MMisafir KullanıcıThis is my second time visit Pacific Orient. As expected, the is nice and clean. Check in and check out is fast and easy. I got my room facing the Bintang mall building and it was fantastic. Here, parking space is limited. So whoever wants to park their car, better come early or make early reservation. The morning breakfast was simple. Not much they can offer. After all, don't expected too much since room rates offered was less than 100 ringgit.
Definitely will stay here again if had a chance to visit Miri.
