"A very pleasant stay at the Pipa Old Inn. A very historical building, though the place is equipped with all necessary modern amenities save for an elevator. Fortunately the staff very helpful assisted us with lugging up our heavy luggage to our room on the 3rd floor. Very beautifully decorated and strategically located in the heart of Datong Ancient City. Very pleasant and helpful staff who helped us plan and arrange our trips around Datong though sadly, they weren't very proficient in English (but that's common in China). Free breakfast was included in our stay and there was a decent spread though the menu didn't change much over our stay there save for one or two vegetable dishes being rotated. Overall definitely worth a return trip and stay in Datong Ancient City."

- Facilities: There are 58 guest rooms on the second floor above ground; a Chinese restaurant on the first floor, mainly serving Datong casserole dishes; multi-functional banquet halls, meeting rooms, etc. on the first and second floors underground, which can accommodate 1,000 people for dining; and a parking lot on the third floor underground with 150 parking spaces.
"I booked two rooms for 4, and we were given rooms beside each other. We arrived late at night around 9.30pm and check in went smoothly. Rooms were very comfortable and were equipped with SMART tech with voice activation! We were also able to check out a little later upon request since our train left later in the afternoon. I also had packages delivered to the reception and had no issues. Location was great and easy to explore the ancient city and also to see the main wall itself.
One thing to note is that there isn't a formal drop off point but you can definitely get dropped off and picked up along the side of the road. The room layout was slightly different than the images on Trip.com (I booked a Double bedroom with courtyard view with a stay voucher), but the room was good too although I would have preferred the toilet configuration in the photos. Overall, a great place to stay and I'd definitely stay here again if I get to come back to Datong. They also have a bakery at the lobby and it gets sold out pretty quickly!"

"We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was very spacious and comfortable, with the toilet and shower separated, which was very convenient. The location is great—just a short Didi (cab) ride to Datong Ancient City.
The service was excellent. The reception staff were very helpful, assisting us with booking a one-day cab to visit the Hanging Temple and giving clear advice on how to get around the city.
There are also a few restaurants and convenience stores within a short walking distance, which made things easy. The hotel itself has a bar and a coffee area, adding to the overall convenience.
Overall, a very good experience."

"The service, cleanliness and comfort of Man Xin Hotel Datong was superb.
The young lady at the reception was especially helpful to us on the morning of May 30 at 8 am when we discovered we had left our mobile phone in a taxi we hailed from the street. She made a police report immediately and the police located the taxi driver within an hour. We got our phone back with great relief.
All the staff at the hotel was very courteous and friendly."

Non possiamo esprimerci in merito alla posizione perché abbiamo sempre usato il taxi per andare alle attrazioni nei dintorni di Datong (pagoda in legno, monasteri sospesi e grotte di Yungang) ma proprio accanto all' hotel ci sono moltissimi ristoranti e locali per prendere qualcosa di veloce da mangiare. Il personale sembra disponibile, ma nessuno sapeva l'inglese quindi bisognava usare un' app per la traduzione che non sempre è precisa e la comunicazione ne è un po' penalizzata."

尤其是，那大堂的男服務員拿着拖廁所的帶着超大尿騷味的墩布來拖大堂的地板上的水，那味道要把人薰暈，你們四星級還不如如家和七天呢，本來定了2晚，住了一晚果斷退訂，雞蛋留着你們自己吃吧，誰不知道多吃一個雞蛋多膽固醇啊。沒人跟你們搶，笑**

But as impressed we were with the hotel the best part is the staff! Liu made us feel at home, she is sweet and adorable, made every effort to accommodate every request, helped us with tours and lent us some bicycles to go around the city. She even organised a take away breakfast for us early in the morning as we were leaving super early!! 11 out of 10! (The cleaning lady was so cute too, going all the way to please us)

11301120****酒店位於古城內，地理位置優越。傍晚時分漫步至石板街巷，兩側燈籠次第亮起，氤氲着市井煙火與慢調時光。店家有接駁車服務，非常方便，省時省力。員工小虹、帥帥熱情周到，面帶笑容，問候真誠且服務細緻，接送準時準時，協助搬運行李，細心提醒各類注意事項。房間佈置雅緻，入住感覺舒適又温馨，細節之處盡顯用心。屋內無異味，乾淨整潔，配套設施完善，客房用品很全面，看得出來店家真的很用心。服務人員中，管家晶晶從訂房到入住全程貼心跟進，耐心解答每一個疑問，還主動幫忙規劃周邊遊玩路線，讓人倍感親切。祁祁待人謙和，有問必答，細緻入微。早餐時間很自由，餐食豐盛且品類多樣，中西結合，食材新鮮，營養搭配合理，口味宜人。下午茶點心精緻可口，搭配的果飲清新怡人。晚間有葯膳搭配時令食材精心熬製，湯品温潤滋補，暖心養身。酒店還贈送人文旅拍。Ps:此家酒店為第二次預訂，第一次因入住當天臨時有事未能入住，店家全額退款，全程退款處理迅速且態度誠懇，令人倍感信賴。此次再度選擇，果然不負期待，我們車票為晚上19點，店家為了讓我們可以輕鬆遊玩至最後一刻，特意安排了延時退房服務，並協調好接駁車在傍晚六點準時送站，全程無縫銜接。臨行前管家晶晶還貼心準備了伴手禮，更添温馨之感。

LLaura 劳拉We absolutely loved staying here! It was such a hidden gem and so so nice. A beautiful courtyard to sit and have morning coffee, great styled room, cozy and warm. The hosts were amazing and made homemade breakfast every morning, whatever we wanted to eat. It was truly an exceptional experience. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a comfortable, affordable, authentic experience in Datong.

KKatrin SauthoffMy husband and I are a couple from Germany. We booked two nights there, and our decision was absolutely the right one. From the initial contact (via the WeChat app, which is essential for your entire trip to China) to our departure, everything was perfect. We were picked up from the train station by car and taken to the hotel free of charge. This is especially good for Western tourists who don't speak Chinese. The first problem would have been explaining to the taxi where we wanted to go. The lobby and rooms are very beautiful, stylish, and equipped with the highest technology. Most of the guest rooms face the inner courtyard, so you can sleep very quietly and comfortably. The beds are very large and comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent. It's located on the northern edge of the Ancient City of Datong, just a few minutes' walk from the tourist attractions and the colorful and lively old town. So you can enjoy it without being disturbed by noise. I would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, we don't speak Chinese, and the staff didn't speak English, but with the help of modern communication tools (language apps), we understood each other perfectly. Every request was fulfilled. There's even the option to use a washing machine in the basement of the hotel. This is especially fantastic for tourists on longer trips to China, as it allows for easy laundry. If you ever come back to China, we will definitely book this hotel again.

AAnnie PBPI had an amazing stay at Yunzhong Traditional Courtyard in Datong! This hidden gem offers a traditional Chinese courtyard experience with a cozy and authentic vibe. The location is ideal—just a short walk from Huayan Temple and Nine Dragon Wall. The rooms were immaculately clean, making it easy to relax, especially after staying at a larger hotel that wasn’t as spotless. The bathroom amenities were incredible—featuring a wooden comb, two electric toothbrushes, Sensodyne toothpaste, a high-quality nail clipping set, a shoehorn, Listerine, and lingerie soap, all beautifully packed in an embroidered red pouch, free of charge. Breakfast was delicious, with a carefully prepared set menu. The thousand-year congee was unbelievably good! The hotel even has a small exhibition room, adding to its charm. There's no complaint on anything here. It's all perfect to me! Overall, Yunzhong Traditional Courtyard is a fantastic blend of tradition, comfort, and thoughtful hospitality—highly recommend it!

設施：💯既下山的酒店美學設計非常在線，一步一景，融合了古大同晉韻，拍照絕絕出片。
酒店配了泳池，餐廳，健身房，泳池水質很清，泳池上方房頂配了壁畫，根藝術🎨。
早餐可以自選和單點，刀削麪很好吃，師傅水平在線。餐具很精緻。咖啡豆風味也不錯。
洗漱用品：💯房間裏配了觀夏方洗漱用品，好像洗髮水護髮素是定製的？官方店裡沒找到對應的。不過洗髮水很好用，不像有些酒店現在的選品是，徒有品牌效應。既下山觀夏的這一套很好用！身體乳也不錯，撫平大同帶來的皮膚乾燥問題。
沐浴絲瓜絡也很好，摩擦在皮膚上不會痛。
另外還配了氣墊梳，這個還挺驚喜的，大同風挺大的，頭髮容易大打結，氣墊梳個很貼心了
毛巾床品都非常ok。
熱水壺是咖啡手沖壺，細細的壺嘴，配上房間裏的掛耳咖啡，雖然沒用上，但感覺很貼心了。
衞生：衞生沒有啥問題，是新酒店，所有東西都還維持的非常好，希望下次來大同既下山，還可以🈶現在的衞生水平
環境：酒店的環境優勢在於住客等私密性很好，因為建築設計的考究，每個房間都有不同的方位和空間，住客之間互相照面的可能性不大，感覺很安靜很舒心。
服務：服務上，感覺可能需要進一步細化員工SOP，比如介紹酒店設施，顧客引導性溝通，以及熱情度表現。
我還挺喜歡酒店能提供熱情的服務多，之前住過鬆贊多酒店，當時真的有被酒店員工多真誠個熱情打動到，會給人感覺非常加分。
開夜床和夜間甜湯的服務也蠻好的，給人温馨多感覺。但是，我們回酒店的時候，發現衣櫃門沒關緊，還嚇了一跳，後來才發現，應該是酒店員工放床毯的時候忘記關緊了。床毯也比較隨意的堆在櫃子裏，也讓我嚇了一跳，懷疑有人進房間了😂如果疊整齊了放在櫃子裏會更好喲
另外，希望進酒店的時候，可以給更多的介紹，因為酒店的佈局比較有私密性，所以好多設施不容易找到，所以希望可以有一些設施介紹提供給住客。
建議可以多一些文化訊息的傳遞，我是是看既下山官方賬號種草來的，對它宣傳的建築設計，在地文化體現比較感興趣，但是酒店裡這些訊息不多。希望可以再加油😎員工看着都薛微有點緊張哈哈，可以再自信篤定一些～
總結：一開始感覺，“就這？”再細品，“可以，下次還來！”
另外再嘮叨一句，這次給升級了房型，很開心🥳

YYeryeryEvery detail of this hotel was top notch! It was our first time in Datong, and staying at pingcheng hotel was one of the best decision we made! From the moment you arrive they greet you with a welcome drinks and fruits! The foot bath service felt amazing after a long day walking around the grottoes. The hotel is located in the quieter quarter of the ancient city. I would totally go back to stay at this hotel! They even got us a bag of Shanxi souvenirs!💖
The only thing I'd recommend to improve would be the breakfast selection. Adding cheese & ham and some other continental breakfast option would be great for foreign tourists.

MMisafir KullanıcıI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.

AAnonim KullanıcıThe hotel is from the era where they used marble tiles in the bathrooms and heavy quality wood furniture which is pretty charming. Bed was very comfortable and staff were generally helpful altho a couple of the reception staff were quite brusque, also they spoke really fast in an accent I couldn't always understand. I think they should be more mindful of visitors from abroad. The most helpful and courteous member of staff was the bellhop.
The hotel claims to be non-smoking which is a joke cuz my room reeked of cigarette smoke and I told the staff so when she brought me there but she just said oh they've already turned down the room. Since I stayed for only 1 night, I didn't make a fuss. But non-smoking rooms are generally a joke in China, there is no enforcement and smokers have no consideration for others. Non-smokers in this country have no rights.

MMisafir Kullanıcı民宿位置太好了，車停在華嚴寺停車場上去步行五分鐘就到，二樓酒吧晚上沒有喧鬧聲，本來還想去喝兩杯，沒啥人就沒去了，三樓有間雪茄房，老闆興趣使然吧，裝修很有格調，有種老上海的味道，房間裏有一台超級大的電視機，估摸着有一百寸吧，紅酒茶具一應俱全，民宿出手這麼闊綽，少見，老闆不差錢哈，兩房配兩個洗手間，價格還不高，良心
