Upon arrival, May, the Front Office Manager, greeted us with a warm smile that instantly melted away our travel fatigue. With professionalism and attention to detail, she introduced the hotel’s amenities and kindly recommended an upgrade to the Lakeside Suite—a decision that immersed us in a dreamlike Jiangnan experience far beyond our expectations. The Lakeside Suite framed Dongqian Lake like a living ink-wash painting. Each morning, we opened the floor-to-ceiling windows to mist-kissed waters resembling a classical scroll; by dusk, the lake shimmered in amber hues under the setting sun, dotted with distant sailboats. Inside, the suite masterfully balanced traditional Chinese aesthetics with contemporary comfort—exquisitely carved screens divided the tranquil living space, embroidered cushions complemented modern art pieces, and the freestanding bathtub by the window created the illusion of floating above the lake. The smart bedside control system, allowing us to adjust lighting and curtains with a touch, harmonized technology with timeless elegance. May’s service was nothing short of impeccable. Noticing our preference for quiet mornings, she proactively adjusted housekeeping schedules. When we expressed interest in local flavors, she not only recommended authentic Ningbo restaurants but also hand-drew a map of nearby attractions. These thoughtful, personalized touches transformed a routine stay into a heartfelt experience. At checkout, a carefully prepared gift and a handwritten note from May added the perfect sentimental farewell. "It’s difficult to fault a ShangriLa La at the best of times.  During this month I stayed at three Shangri La hotels in China and this is still in my view the best.  The standards are consistent; minor differences in the lounge F&B, but always good.  One of the reception staff at another ShangriLa La asked my why I liked the Ningbo one.  Very simple I replied, the staff. Helpful to a tee, great standards maintained, competitively priced.  If there’s a criticism, it’s that the in house transport is v expensive. A hotel car to Shanghai Pudong PVG costs more than a 3 night stay."

"Generally a very impressive, grand, beautiful and majestic hotel smack in the middle of Yinxian District. Some parts of the hotel design was strange though: the location of light switches was not intuitive (I spent a good few minutes trying to find the light switches for living area), they don’t provide hair conditioner for bathroom. And bathtub does not have a shower option (and quite a walk away from shower area). Otherwise it would have been a perfect hotel. I enjoyed my stay very much and this hotel made me love Ningbo City a lot."

"The hotel was very nice, the staff exceeded my expectations, Igor the manager he did everything from withdrawing money, extending my stay till literally reading my mind, before I even asked he already knew what I wanted. Exceptional service will definitely come again 👏"

"My colleagues toilet had skid marks in when he checked into his room, hadn’t been cleaned. Disgusting. The gym is dated and the equipment could do with a refresh. The rooms were terribly hot, the person in the room next to me slept with his door open all night as the corridor was cooler. I would not return to this hotel."

"A crown Plaza Hotel is usual a safe bet in China but unfortunately this one does not meet up to the standards I have come to expect from the group. The location is great but the hotel is aged and it feels it at every turn. Between 2 rooms we both had issues that needed to be resolved including a blown fuse for the electricity. The equipment in the gym is all but falling apart. We went for a massage and were offered “extra” services, which is not our cup of tea and in all my years of travel have never been directly asked like that. It ruined the experience. We had to extend our stay in Ningbo and opted to move hotels for the extra night."

"Stayed at The Westin Ningbo on a quick business trip and found it a practical base: right in the CBD, steps from Tianyi Square for dining and last‑minute errands. The room was comfortably sized and quiet, which made overnight rest reliable after meetings. I could keep everything on‑site with Seasonal Tastes and the Chinese restaurant for client meals. Although the hotel isn’t the newest, and I think some areas need to be refreshed, service was attentive, and the location is hard to beat for business in central Ningbo."

"The hotel has a high standard. It is clean, quiet and has got very good river views. Staff are very friendly. Especially, Mr. John Guo was very helpful with my luggages and parcel and everything. Breakfast has a lot of varieties. Especially, they provide fresh squeezed juices (watermelon juices, and orange juices)and cucumber juices. Hotel has also got a big swimming pool with 1.2 and 1.5 meters 2 depths. Would highly recommend."
