Even though the hotel is located in the highlands very far (not within walking distance) from JR Tazawako Station, with the help of the hotel staff at JR Inn Sapporo JRイン 札幌 where I stayed at from May 7 to 10, she helped me to call KAMENOI HOTEL TAZAWAKO亀の井ホテル 田沢湖 to book the hotel's station pick-up service (complimentary) from JR Tazawako Station (田沢湖駅) but had to wait quite a while as the hotel’s pick-up is only available at 3.30pm.
There isn’t much to do around the area which has a lot of abandoned buildings, shops and hotels etc. in a state of akiya.
But that doesn’t dampen my mood at all as I get to immerse myself in the traditional Japanese ryokan experience of buffet dinner and breakfast (both were excellent), onsen and wearing the traditional yukata.
Although the hotel’s open-air onsen (rotemburo) was temporarily closed due to damage during the winter period, the hotel has partnered with another nearby hotel to allow guests to make use of the other hotel’s rotemburo.
We stayed in Towada Prince Hotel for 4 nights in early October in a lake-view room. The hotel itself is resort style with lots of open space and facing Lake Towada. The hot spa is good with one open air pool. The colours of the leaves have not yet changed so the views would be even better towards end of October and November. We stayed in hotel for dinner and the French dinner is rather nice. It would be better if there would be more variation in the menu for guests staying for more than 2 nights. Since we travelled to Aomori and Oirase a lot, the location of the hotel is good with about 45 minutes' drive to Oirase. Overall, we find our stay very pleasant and we enjoyed it a lot.
The hotel is a bit dated but clean and the staff are friendly. The hotel offers a complimentary ramen which was a surprise and delicious. The onsen is very nice and located on the 5th floor. One thing to point out is that the hotel does not have noise restriction hours. While I’m not a light sleeper, Japanese walls are thin. My room was on the 5th floor so between traffic to onsen, loud speaking Japanese tourists and children running around, the noise level did not subside until after midnight and started again around 5:30am. Bear in mind, I stayed over a holiday weekend so guests visiting on regular weekends may have a different experience.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough! It's attached to the mall in the Akita JR station and is sandwiched between a 7/11 convenience store and a Starbucks coffee! Also excellent food joints nearby includiing an awesome noodles joint 1min walk.
The room was bigger than standard rooms at Japanese hotels and the reception crew was friendly and attentive. I had stores my bags in the morning and went back in the afternoon to check in and the staff had already brought it to my room- lovely attention to details.
I think I will come to Akita again just to stay at this hotel as it was amazing

Ultimately, those excelling in cleanliness and organization demonstrate valuable traits for both personal and professional success.
I enjoyed the moment while staying here a lot, the price is so cheap compared to what I got, big room, dinner and breakfast, private bath and public bath access.
I believe if you enjoy drinking Sake you will love the bar
A great time at this hotel. The staff were professional and the hotel was nicely done up. The room was very comfortable and the toiletries were nice too. Getting there in the snow with slush on the streets was not much fun though. Not too far from the train station, but still a decent distance away.
Spacious room and bathroom, but a little old and dusty. Quite a distance from Odate station so will need to catch a bus or prepare for a 20-30 min walk. Helpful staff who guided us where to catch buses.
The paid parking is conveniently located right next to the hotel, and there is a 7-Eleven convenience store on the ground floor, which is very convenient.
The hot spring is spacious and Korean-style, and it comes with a sauna room and a cold bath. There are three washing machines each in the men’s and women’s hot spring areas. Guests can also enjoy free massage chairs and complimentary ice pops (ice cream) after the bath.

PPaulGXThis hotel is right next to a underground rock concert shop. It has frequent tenants who played there or attend the concerts there. If you are driving , you won’t be able to get their parking slots as it mostly reserved for the regulars. The nearby parking lots charges 400 Y from 4pm-8am so if you arrive shortly after check in time and decide to head out early the next day, you may use the 2 carparks that is right beside the hotel. If you can’t make it in time, the hotel cheapest parking option is behind Lawson where they have monthly season parking lots. It’s 600 yen per night from 3pm to 10am.
room wise, price to value is below average probably becos of high demand in the vicinity. As for cleanliness, can be better improve. My aircon filter and air filter machine was producing really moldy and smell air , probably from previous guests who sweated in the room. Was a big turn off lucky I came during autumn, can just open the window to get cold air in.
