First time travelling with my baby boy and the experience at The Risonare was wonderful. Full of fun activities, beautiful environment. The view was spectacular , my husband and I even got some time to pamper ourselves . Our room was spacious but the living room and corridor was quite old though. Given the price of our room, this is the only one thing we didn’t enjoy so much .
It’s a destination resort you should really plan for it however from the moment you have met the driver from Setsu at the Kutchan station and everything is beyond your expectations and impeccable service.
Love the private Onsen experience yet the public Onsen is also not so busy at this time.
However I will definitely go visit and stay again during the winter time.
Two three four or more thumbs up 👍
I recently stayed at a hotel that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. The location was incredibly convenient, situated right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. The facilities were exceptionally clean and well-maintained, which made for a comfortable and pleasant stay.
One of the highlights of my experience was the breakfast. It was plentiful, with a wide variety of high-quality options to choose from each morning. I also thoroughly enjoyed the on-site hot springs. They were relaxing and provided the perfect way to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
Additionally, my room offered a stunning view, which added to the overall enjoyment of my stay. Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, this hotel provides an excellent base with great amenities. I would definitely stay here again in the future.
Booked a room with private onsen and shared amongst 3 friends. There is valet parking upon arrival, and complimentary drinks and simple snacks at the welcome lounge between 3-10pm. They had a harpist perform at the lounge and dinner sometimes, it was very peaceful!
Room was nice and comfortable, facing a nice view of lake Toya. Would have liked to be even closer to the lake as it turns out there is a field between the hotel and the lake. Temperature and size of private onsen js good, room facilities also great.
Breakfast and dinner was wonderful, for dinner they serve a 6-7 course French styled meal on both nights made by Japanese ingredients. They had western and Japanese main plate options for breakfast with a buffet alongside too. Choices were plentiful and delicious.
Staff generally very courteous and helpful, we had an issue with the hot water in our shower which they work very hard to fix. There was a random incident where one of the staff Yusaku was very rude to us at the Lumiere restaurant, he pretended not to understand English when taking our order for tea/ coffee, and even challenged us when we asked for lemon in tea, he said ‘what colleague?’ And ‘you want a piece of tea?’. Completely unacceptable for a hotel like this. The rest of the staff were nothing like that.
Had an amazing stay at Chalet Ivy, a new modern ryokan with traditional feels.
The room is very spacious with comfortable modern amenities, with an in-room private onsen, with unobstructed snow covered views.
Dinner and breakfast here are one of the best, the sequencing of dishes and the amount are just right. Your get to explore various dishes and each dishes are so meticulously done.
One of the best perks here are the lounge, the snack bar and drinks bar are awesome. Stocks with best Sapporo snack and drinks for you to grab at any time.
Definitely one of the best resort ever, will return for sure.
We had a wonderful stay at Protom International Hokkaido, and it became one of the most memorable parts of our trip.
The hotel kindly surprised us with a complimentary upgrade to the Junior Twin Suite, and the room was incredibly spacious, clean, and comfortable. We were so happy when we entered the room — it felt bright, modern, and very relaxing, especially after a long day of travel.
What touched us the most was the kindness of the hotel staff. Everyone was polite, warm, and always ready to help. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcomed, not just as guests, but like friends.
We are very grateful for the upgrade and the wonderful service. This stay made our Hokkaido trip even more special. We will definitely choose Protom International Hokkaido again next time.
Highly recommended. ( sorry about only the photos of the key)
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Ms. Tamori Minatsu for her exceptional help during our recent stay. Upon arriving at the hotel, we discovered that we had left a bag containing a wallet, cash, and cards at a restaurant in Kamikawa, nearly three hours away.
We approached Ms. Tamori for help. She listened attentively to understand our situation. The she contacted the restaurant to confirm that the bag had been found. The next day, she went above and beyond by helping us arrange for the bag to be safely delivered to our hotel in Sapporo.
Thanks to her efficiency, kindness, and genuine concern, a potential disaster turned into a heartwarming reminder of the hospitality and warmth we experienced in Hokkaido. We are truly grateful for her support — she made our trip not only smooth but also deeply memorable.

MMisafir KullanıcıExcellent service provided by the staff, especially the one who did the check-in registeration for my family. Location is just a few mins walk from the subway. Hotel is new and well fitted out. Breakfast is tasty with an adequate spread. Highly recommended.
Rrosie_qiqiRoom is spacious with a private garden & outdoors onsen.
Welcome puddings were very yummy and yet the buffet in there was very insipid. Frankly speaking, the only two good foods there are sashimi and rice, what a shame.
Others: Very close to the lake, 1-2 minutes walk; a large and cozy lobby with good jazz music from an antique JBL sound system; live music performance every night; lots of books; fireplace and roasted marshmallows; lovely shop on the 3rd floor (prized reasonably). All is well except the buffet. Did not try the Japanese one (needs to book and pay a lot) hence a bit regretted.

VVibzzHad a wonderful stay at Hotel Emisia Sapporo.
The staff were absolutely the best — friendly, professional, and always helpful. The hotel itself is great, very comfortable, and well maintained.
Parking was also absolutely wonderful, very convenient and stress-free, which made our stay even better.
Even the breakfast restaurant was on the 31st floor with a beautiful sky view, which made the whole experience even more special.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sapporo. Would definitely stay here again!Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Emisia Sapporo.
MMisafir KullanıcıThe Windsor Hotel at Toya may boast its status as a premier 5-star luxury destination and its historic role as host of the 2008 G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit, but our recent stay fell far short of expectations.
Despite the grandeur of the location and its breathtaking views, the service quality was surprisingly poor for a hotel of this caliber. English communication was inconsistent and below the standard expected at an international luxury property. Housekeeping was careless—leaving a used cleaning towel on the bed after daily room service, which is simply unacceptable.
When I drove to the main entrance to pick up my family, I was abruptly asked to leave immediately, even though only a few cars were present. This lack of hospitality was jarring. Additionally, being charged for extra bottled water—something even 3-star hotels offer complimentary—felt petty and out of touch with luxury norms.
The most troubling experience came during checkout. Two of our international credit cards failed to process, and although we successfully paid with a third, the staff’s attitude was unprofessional. We were met with a sour expression and the word “FINALLY” once the transaction went through—an unacceptable remark that left a lasting negative impression.
While the hotel’s setting is undeniably beautiful, the overall service and treatment we received did not reflect the standards of a true 5-star experience. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve both staff training and guest relations.
MMisafir KullanıcıWe had booked total 7 rooms. Beginning from check in we had impressed how nice and friendly the counter lady, full of smile and patience. We come here by driving so not very sure about surroundings and public transportation. The hotel very clean and nice, so suddenly we all dun want go out, we just stay hotel, and feel 1 night not enough, Thank you.
MMisafir KullanıcıI chose this hotel specifically for its private bath, only to discover that reservations must be made 2-3 months in advance via email/phone call. The hotel does provide a shuttle bus from Sapporo city, which typically takes about an hour, but you also need to book that at least a month in advance, according to various bloggers. It was quite disappointing not to enjoy the private bath experience and to have to arrange our own transportation from/back to the city. The frustrating part is that you wouldn’t know the advance booking requirement when you make a reservation through Trip.com or similar platforms. Here’s a rephrased version of your statement:
I honestly find this quite unfair.
MMisafir KullanıcıWe arrived after dinner time and the parking lot is full. No concierge or service staff to direct us where to park. Didn't have time to enjoy other service as well coz of a short stay. The room is reasonably comfy, but not so reasonably priced if you are not planning a longer stay to enjoy onsen and such.
MMisafir KullanıcıThe Hotel is rather OLD. For the western style room that I stayed at, the furniture is founded with lots of chipping and scratches. Carpets are of very old design and colors of the carpet is faded in high traffic areas without replacing before it worn out. The foam/paddings used for the chairs inside the room are losing its elasticity. For the bed, there is a padded comforter provided instead of a proper blanket. In general, the quality of the hotel is not up to nowadays standard in all aspects (except the lake view) given such relatively high room rate charged. But I must admit that the hotel is situated in a very good location and with very nice view of the lake. Love the firework show on the lake in the evening.
