The onsen quality in Gero district is really superior. Skin feels very silky. The floor structure can feel confusing but we got used to it very quickly. The hotel offers good onsen and kaiseiki experience at economical price. Lots of local Japanese so it felt very authentic.
The only downsides are 1. lack of entertainment
options eg local performance, art & craft for young kids 2. Very crowded breakfast time. They could arrange different breakfast halls to divert the crowd or give timeslot tickets in advance.
Great room and facilities that look towards Gifu castle. We watched the full moon rise from behind the the mountain from our room window. Amazing. Location was sensational and once on the mountain you can see the hotel.
The 2 single beds room I have stayed is very very small, basically can put one bag flat and no more room to walk. But I like the hotel allow us to reserve a parking lot before we arrive.
This hotel is massive. Its comprises of 3 buildings and each building has its own public bath. And one of them has outdoor bath.
The room I booked has balcony but it was too chilly to sit outside.
Gym and swimming pool are also available but for ¥1,000 fee.
Dinner was not impressive but the hotel provided 2 different foods on each dinner during my 2-day stay. Breakfast spread was good but it is buffet style and it was busy and chaotic.
The best thing about this location it is very close to Gero station yet the hotel has pick ip and drop off service for every train schedules.
The room was a little small, but it was a very comfortable stay overall. Free parking was provided just a short walk from the property, which was convenient. A simple self-service ochazuke was available for all guests, which was a warm and thoughtful touch.
Shoes are not allowed inside the hotel, so everyone walks around barefoot or in socks. It felt a bit unusual at first, especially while waiting for the lift, but it also meant that no outside shoes were brought into the rooms, helping to keep the space clean and cosy.
Stayed there with as a family of 3. While I really wanted to like the ryokan due to the warm service and great feedback from friends, my own experience was a bit disappointing. We have stayed in many traditional ryokans prior to this and were familiar with the setup. We are appreciative with the warm service and sincere touches; like candies at check in, but the ryokan itself is really quite old and in need of a refresh.
Our room is tucked away in a corner and required us to go down a small flight of stairs to reach. I am not sure if the location meant that is a bit colder than the rest of the rooms but we really did feel cold and the heating was inadequate. The in built heater would also stop and beep in the middle of the night, which led 2 of us falling sick at the start of the trip. We requested for a additional small heater which helped a bit. Second night, our 9yo son also got many mysterious bites all over his leg. He claimed to have seen a bug crawl under the tatami mat but we were not certain and therefore did not feedback to the ryokan as we only had one more remaining night to go. We had only stayed 1 night in nagoya's marriott associa hotel prior to our ryokan visit, and his skin improved after we left Takayama, leading us to think that it might have been the stay there.
The location is good, not far from Takayama Station and the old town area. You can easily walk to important spots in the city, such as the Miyagawa morning market, convenience stores, and yakiniku restaurants. There is a parking lot for guests. The receptionists can speak English well. There is online check-in in advance, so the actual check-in at the hotel does not take long, although it can take a bit longer during busy periods. The room is quite spacious. Everything else is standard for a hotel. The hotel has a public hot spring bath with good quality water, but it was very busy during the time I went. The lobby downstairs has ice, a microwave, and a coin-operated water dispenser. The breakfast is varied and tasty.
Onyado Yuinsho was located about 27 mins walk up the hill from shirakawa go bus terminal. It is possible to walk there as it’s a quiet path along the road pavement and a lot of scenery to see. But it’s not advisable unless you miss the 1st shuttle bus to hotel at 3pm. Reason is due to the bears signboards located along the road indicating possible bear attacks. The shuttle bus service is good at scheduled timing available at their website. Service, food and facilities are top notch. I love their attention to details. I will highly recommended you include breakfast and dinner in hotel as the eatery are all about 20 mins walk away and lighting outside hotel is poor at night. The onsen is a must try with different types of cold, hot water, fountain, sit down, indoor and outdoor. The whole hotel is carpeted so schools are not allowed. Overall I love the unique experience and their attention to details.
I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is clean, well-kept, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is excellent: very convenient for exploring Takayama, with easy access to the old town, restaurants, and the bus and train station.
The rooms are comfortable and modern, but even in the larger ones there isn’t much storage space for clothes or bags. If you’re traveling light, it’s no problem, but with bigger luggage it can feel a bit tight.
Overall, though, it’s a great base for Takayama: spotless, welcoming, and perfectly located. I’d definitely stay again.
Just had an amazing time in this ryokan with a friend. The public bathroom in the open air - incredible, big, and also a lot of steam, along with the lighting of the lanterns, gives an incredible onsen-vibe! (But it was closed for cleaning at midnight, and not at one in the morning, as written in the brochure). There is also a sauna with a cold bath. After onsen, you can drink milk for free or eat ice cream from frozen juice. There is a separate paid lounge with unlimited beer, wine and whiskey. Private bathrooms are not bad, but not like public ones, plus they were constantly occupied by couples. The bath in the room itself is also not bad, but if you are tall, there may be problems with where to put your feet x) Dinner and breakfast were amazingly tasty. I especially liked the space on the street by the fire, where you can fry marshmallows or just sit after onsen to cool off with a strong drink) During the day we ride to Kamikochi, also a fantastic place)

MMisafir KullanıcıThe best hotel in Takayama even the taxi driver told us so before we checked in, and we 100% agree.
The hotel is clean and spacious. The staff are genuinely eager to help. There’s an onsen for relaxation, and shuttle buses run conveniently from Takayama Station to the hotel and back.
On our next trip to Takayama, we won’t stay anywhere else.
MMisafir KullanıcıThe room is exactly same as the photo on Trip.com, it is clean and spacious. Although it is close to railway station, but no noise in the midnight, my husband and I had a very good sleep at night. The bed and shower are so comfy, definitely will stay this hotel again if I visit Takayama again.
AAnonim KullanıcıGreat location, just few minutes walk from the bus / train station. The hotel has stunning private onsens with great views and a nice, relaxing footbath outside the hotel to soak those weary feet after a long day of adventuring. They also serve free ramen in the evening! Will definitely come back next time!
AAnonim KullanıcıExtremely well-equipped and ideal for family travel, featuring a washer and dryer. The spacious layout is conveniently located near shopping areas, making it easy to prepare breakfast and dinner. The kitchen is fully stocked with all necessary utensils, and the property boasts an excellent location.
MMui HuangWe stayed at Tokyu Stay Hida Takayama Musubinoyu for 2 nights, and it was the best accommodation of our entire Japan trip. The hotel is cosy, lovely, and very well maintained, making our stay extremely comfortable. The location is excellent, with easy access to the train station, shops, and restaurants. The onsen was fantastic, and we especially enjoyed the relaxing foot bath. Breakfast at the hotel was wonderful, with a great selection to start the day. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone staying in Takayama.

CCurtis Lee BakerThe hotel over looks the flowing river that runs through Gero while also looking at the mountains. Its a great location to easily walk into the town and explore the small shops and offerings there. If you have a chance, definitely recommend booking the room with a private onsen. Sitting in the onsen with the cool breeze from the mountains that came through the window was a great way to start and end the day I was there. The public baths are nice as well and lots of space. Getting around the hotel can be a little tricky sometimes if you don't read/speak japanese, but the staff is very friendly to help navigate the way. I opted in for the breakfast and dinner options and was stuffed. Very great quality and local offerings from the meals and did not even need lunch in between. Great for couples, families and solo travelers.
