I had a lovely stay at the Bellagio by MGM Shanghai. The service was excellent—staff were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. My room was spacious, and well-maintained overall, offering a luxurious feel with a touch of classic charm. The highlight of my stay was the stunning night view of the Pearl Tower from my room—absolutely unforgettable. Watching the skyline light up from the comfort of my bed was a real treat. While most of the room was in great condition, some of the furniture, like the study desk, seemed a bit dated and had visible marks. It didn’t affect my overall comfort, but it stood out slightly against the otherwise high standard. Afternoon tea was okay—nothing spectacular—but the ambiance and view more than made up for it. The hotel’s location is also ideal, close to the Bund and major attractions, yet quiet enough for a relaxing stay. All in all, a fantastic experience with just a few minor areas for improvement. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed in this hotel for around a week - overall great experience given the price. Location is one of the best in Shanghai - it’s across the road from line 1 and 7, which gets you to many attractions, and it’s one of the subway stations that are easier to navigate too - you can go towards huaihai road, and xintiandi, or you can go back, into xuhui district and explore meiluocheng, or you can go across to jingan temple, and along there. Furthermore, it’s a very short walk from some of the trendier shops on anfulu and so on. I have stayed numerous times in Shanghai now and it is difficult to top this location regardless of hotel pricing/prestige. I barely took the taxi my stay here, as it is also on some nearby bus lines. I had a room with a view, which was lovely indeed. The toilets are very very clean as they are disinfected after pretty much every use, and the washroom facilities are decent too, but slightly dated and the water pressure is mediocre. The room is very small - I personally am fine with tiny capsule-esque hotels but my luggage (26inch) was difficult to open fully and still have space to sit and walk, which is one thing that makes me carefully reconsider staying here again. Another thing is that there is one lift for this hotel which is on the higher floors, which means waiting for the lift can take a while too, especially if you order food and go to collect it on floor 18, but then you have to wait for the lift to go down and up again if you live on floor 17 or 19. Overall, for the price paid, experience is pretty good.

As a couple who has lived in Shanghai together for almost 10 years, with one of us also Shanghainese, we have been to a lot of the best places in Shanghai, and some of the more recommended places in about 20 cities in the broader nearby area. Nothing in the city or within several hours of high-speed rail compares to a stay at Ritz-Carlton Pudong. In Asia and indeed the planet, this impeccable hotel experience stands as an iconic example of old-world elegance and service. In addition, it also offers a unique view of both some of the most modern and tallest buildings and the city’s famed Bund riverside, home to a variety of art deco architectural masterpieces. We had the incredible good fortune to start our honeymoon at the Ritz in Pudong, and this last stay was our last honeymoon treat. As always, it was a spectacular experience that we cannot recommend enough. The most extraordinary part of the stay really is the staff, they are all world class people who go above and beyond to make the Ritz-Carlton Pudong such an exceptional institution in one of the world’s leading cities. Sincere thanks to the whole team for making this happen, including Cherryl, who made reservation delightfully effortless, Chris who helped us to our room, and Joey and Ruby who helped in the evening. Special and heartfelt thanks to the whole team who make the Club Lounge experience world beating: Eddie and Junita, who both lead by example, have a deep passion for the details that create excellence, as well as being just the nicest people. They are both incredibly inspiring leaders and professionals. Claire is generally excellent there but also was phenomenally helpful to get a bag back when it was left behind, we really apricated that. Jeramy and Vivian also are amazing, as are Club Lounge’s chef’s Joe and Austin. Sherry is a real star, attentive, sharp and so helpful. Last but not least, Helen, who was the first person to greet us after we got married, and fittingly the last person to help us create personalised room key cards with our wedding photo on it, and most recently a special photo of family from our honeymoon. Those keycards are really cool keepsakes, but making them is not as simple as you might think: the image is etched into the key, not printed, so the original photo needs to be translated by AI into an image that the etching system is capable of delivering, which is really impressive. When I showed my mom who lives very far away, even she was impressed with Helen’s work. Ordinarily we prioritise new experiences over more of the same, regardless of how comfortable and nice it is. But regardless of how hard we try, we have not been able to figure out a better way to celebrate our biggest moments than a stay at the Ritz in Pudong.

The Kerry Hotel is a very family-friendly place to stay. It offers extra beds, a child-friendly swimming pool, and an add-on soft play voucher for children. This was my children’s favourite part of the hotel! The breakfast has a large variety of international foods, and I loved that you can get a coffee to take away. The staff were very friendly and even offered us a late check-out.

Overall, a very solid stay with excellent service and good value for a Peninsula property. The hotel itself is a beautiful, well-maintained property, and the room cleaning was truly outstanding. Our room attendant was kind, prompt, and extremely attentive — one of the highlights of the stay. Service across the hotel was generally very good, though luggage delivery took close to 30 minutes. We had mentioned that we were happy to carry our own bags as we didn’t want to wait, but unfortunately still had to. A few areas could use attention. The Rolls-Royce fleet, while still elegant, is definitely showing its age. The hot tub in the pool area had an unpleasant smell and visible mold in places, suggesting it needs better upkeep. That said, the overall experience was positive, and the pricing felt reasonable for a Peninsula property in Shanghai. With a bit more attention to the finer details, this could easily be an exceptional stay.

Our stay at Banyan Tree Shanghai was truly exceptional from start to finish. We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary there, and the team made it incredibly special for us. They thoughtfully decorated our room and surprised us with cakes and fruits as a kind gesture. We truly appreciated the effort — it made our celebration even more memorable. Our room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and offered breathtaking views of the city skyline. We especially loved the in-room mini pool — the highlight of our stay was simply relaxing and enjoying a bath while taking in the view. Tales Rooftop Bar was another standout experience. It’s the perfect place to appreciate the stunning city and river views while enjoying drinks. They offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, and we were pleasantly surprised with complimentary snacks as well. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of Western and Chinese options. Aside from the buffet selection, guests can also order freshly prepared dishes like noodles and eggs, which are served hot — a wonderful touch. The staff were incredibly professional, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. They made us feel valued and were always ready to assist with a warm smile. The overall ambiance of the hotel is peaceful and relaxing, making it a perfect retreat despite being in a vibrant city like Shanghai. We highly recommend Banyan Tree Shanghai and look forward to returning in the future.

I would like to sincerely commend Jude from the concierge team at Waldorf Astoria for his exceptional service. Despite it being 12am, Jude was incredibly helpful and proactive in assisting me with a parcel that was mistakenly sent to the wrong address. His willingness to help at such a late hour, coupled with his calm and professional attitude, truly reflects the high standards of service associated with Waldorf Astoria. Please extend my heartfelt thanks to Jude — his dedication did not go unnoticed and made a stressful situation much easier to manage. 我想特别表扬 Waldorf Astoria 礼宾部的 Jude。 尽管已是凌晨12点，他仍非常耐心并主动协助我处理寄错地址的包裹，服务专业又贴心。这样的敬业精神让我深受感动，也充分体现了贵酒店一贯的高水准服务。 The other team members in the concierge department also did a helpful job with our baggage. It’s just unfortunate that I can’t have my ******* food delivery sent by the hotel staff directly to my room. This was inconvenient but I understand the food and hygiene aspects that they uphold. Generally, a pleasant stay with best location. The bund view is just too awesome!

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding my recent stay at your hotel. The room I received was completely inconsistent with the photos and description shown during my online booking. I specifically booked a red-themed twin room with a central Bund view, and I even informed the hotel in advance that I preferred a high floor. However, upon arrival, I was assigned a room on the 8th floor, with a yellow-themed design and an edge-side view. From this room, two-thirds of the view was blocked by buildings, and only a small portion of the river could be seen — and even that was only visible when standing close to the window. The Oriental Pearl Tower view was almost entirely hidden. When I raised this issue with the staff, they denied any discrepancy and claimed that the only twin rooms available were in the yellow design, which clearly contradicts the photos shown during booking. I paid extra to upgrade to a Bund view, and it is unacceptable that I was initially placed in a room with such a limited and obstructed view. Only after I became very firm with my complaint did the staff agree to change my room to a double room with the proper central Bund view. This entire process wasted over one hour of my time, involved unnecessary waiting, and demonstrated poor service handling, especially for a hotel that claims to be five-star.
