This is a unique hotel that offers healing therapy classes that comes along with the accommodation package. I’ve attended the sound bath therapy class at 1pm and felt somewhat relax after the session. Throughout the day, we had a lot of rest in our room and can hear singing bowl music from outside in the late evening til night. For maximum relaxation, I booked a room that provides aroma diffuser and essential oil to promote good sleep. Room has Xiao Du AI to help with curtains opening/closing, weather forecast, news, alarm setting and music playing! Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy watching shows on projector screen as the projector seems to be faulty. We initially thought its just dead battery in remote control but after changing to new battery provided by the hotel staff, the ceiling projector still fails to turn on. We gave up troubling the staff and rest instead since our flight is late midnight. Breakfast is wide spread and offers both western and local food option. I like their porridge and it’s a good change from having daily Mi Xian from other hotels. They also offer special jujube type of fruits that I’ve never tasted before. In addition, they also offer afternoon tea buffet starting from 2pm which you can help yourself if you are still staying in the hotel during the afternoon. The only alarming thing is, we left the hotel with “Do not disturb” red light on + hang “do not disturb” tag on the door, but was shocked to see our room was tidied when we came back in the evening. China hotels do not seem to have safety box option as basic amenities, so we prefer not to get our room tidied but thankfully nothing valuable was lost. We didn’t tell the hotel since nothing was lost and our stay was short anyways. Overall, the staff service attitude is friendly and good but I hope they can respect customer’s privacy. If customer do not wish the room to be cleaned, please do not enter the room.

It had been 20 years since I last visited Kunming — I was just 7 years old back then. This time, I came back for something truly special: to propose to my girlfriend on Qixi Festival, China’s Valentine’s Day. Given how much this moment meant to me, I wanted everything to be perfect. That’s why I chose the Grand Hyatt Kunming, a brand I’ve always trusted, and booked a Deluxe King Room with Club Access for August 28–30. The first night started well. We stayed on the 26th floor — even though the room was near the elevator, it was surprisingly quiet, and the layout and lighting made it feel warm and comfortable. Everything was off to a good start. But things took a turn the next day — the actual day of the proposal, August 29 — a day I had been planning for a long time. We were given a room on the 24th floor, and from the moment we walked in, I could tell something was off. The layout felt awkward, and the room was noticeably warmer than the night before. I turned on the air conditioning, but it didn’t seem strong enough. I even checked with the hotel staff that afternoon and was told the room was “standard size.” After the proposal (which thankfully went beautifully!), my fiancée and I left the room around 9:00 PM for dinner. Before leaving, we set the AC to 16°C, hoping we’d come back to a cool and comfortable space. But when we returned around 11:30 PM, the room temperature hadn’t improved at all. It was still stuffy, and the bathroom was even worse — no proper ventilation, just heat and humidity. We called the front desk, and two technicians came up. After checking everything, they told us the room was “normal.” I asked if we could switch rooms, but the request was brushed off. They just told us to wait — that it would eventually cool down. By then it was already 2:00 AM. Both of us were completely exhausted and had no energy left to argue. We tried to sleep. But at 8:30 AM, I woke up drenched in sweat — the room still hadn’t cooled down. Honestly, I’m heartbroken by this experience. This day was supposed to be one of the most memorable and romantic nights of our lives. And now, while we will remember it, it’s for the wrong reasons. I never imagined that a stay at a Grand Hyatt, in a room I paid extra for (with Club Access and “Deluxe” in the name), would turn out to be so disappointing. I didn’t come here expecting perfection. But I did expect basic comfort, and at the very least, a response from staff that showed they understood how important this stay was for us. Sadly, that didn’t happen.

Excellent services and very nice behaviors from multiple people in the hotel - an amazingly friendly atmosphere and great English speaking people - a special mention for Colin li - the duty manager , Iris from front desk and Nova, Sally from front desk and concierge desk - in fact each one of them is exceptional in their services. Superb service overall -me and wife will comeback soon:)

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was big, comfortable, and very clean. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job, and I really appreciated the helpful support via WeChat — responses were very quick and the advice given was truly helpful. The hotel’s location is also great — just a short walk to Metown mall and convenience stores. The metro station is about a 10-minute walk, which made getting around the city very easy. A special thank you for the beautiful bouquet of flowers — it was such a lovely surprise and made my trip even more special. This stay truly made me happy, and I will definitely come back again

The swimming pool is a great fun.. Perfect place for a short holiday. What impressed me the most is the cleaning lady. I hang my daughter’s swimming clothes at the balcony and couldn’t find it. I called to check if it fell to the room downstairs. The cleaning lady came to help.. when she finished work.. she dropped by to check:. And when she realized that I still couldn’t find it. She immediately asked for my daughter’s size and ordered for me.. when she delivered... I gave her money.. but she left it on the table. I didn’t see her again. she was so kind.

Will start woth the positives. Amazing location, most of the staff were very kind and helpful, the gardens are fantastic and the play area is great when waiting between outings, the room was spacious enough for a family of 4. Unfortunately the hotel left a sour taste though. During checking the reception staff decided to stop communication in English and instead to speak chinese to my partner although she had nothing to do with the trip organising and proceeded to ignore my questions until my wife asked again in chinese. We were not told any of the usual check in information such as WiFi, breakfast times, facilities, etc. Our room wasn't ready at 2:30pm as the previous tenants just checked out, told to wait 40 minutes. Waited an hour and a half, no check ups, no apology. We tried to get a late lunch at the market (all day dining) it is infact not all day, it's only breakfast and dinner. We got to the room, it had ***** hair and blood in the toilet. Broken electrical outlet with the facade falling off (very dangerous for a family room) and water damage on the wall. The cleaners did do an amazing job in the following days. Breakfast and dinner and the market had undercooked meat causing myself and my wife to get food poisoning and spend the next 24 hours stuck in the room being sick. The children's play areas floor it broken with no warning and my child tripped and hurt her self. We have stayed at many intercontinental hotels and not experienced staff this before, especially from receptionist. Luckily the rest of the staff were amazing and the general facilities were ok. We hope it was just a bad day for them and we will be staying at intercontinental again for the next leg of our trip in xishuangbanna.

Good location with great service. The hotel is situated near 翠湖公园 (around 5mins walk) and there's plenty of food options available. From there you be able to do a walking route which you will be able to complete 1/3 of things to see in Kunming

Let's start with the room and the location. Everything perfect. Nice and clean building and the rooms are really nice. I've been staying at this hotel every year since many years ago and unfortunately I've see the quality of the service getting worse and worse. This time it was the worst. Let me explain. First of all at the check-in counter the staff couldn't really speak English. Maybe I was unlucky, I don't know, but not a great start for an expensive international 5* hotel that it's not cheap. This hotel was very famous for having one if not THE best breakfast buffet in all Kunming. Now it was just a sad shadow of what it used to be. There's a small room called ”cheese room” where it used to be filled with cheese and cold cuts. Now the room is empty, just filled with decorations and two lonely plates with salami. The rest of the breakfast used to have international dishes and I'm not exaggerating when I say that it was a feast. The morning I stayed it was pretty much all Chinese food, and the quality was bad too. Clearly not fresh and reheated for I don't know how many times. The staff didn't even come to ask which coffee I wanted when I arrived, something that has never happened in my previous stays. The Afternoon Tea and Apero Chic snacks available at the millesime club also has gotten worse. They don't replenish the dishes after they are finished and there aren't really that many dishes. Used to be much better a few years ago. Unfortunately I've seen this trend also in the previous years but this years is the worse. I'm used to staying in cheap Chinese hostels and I can easily adjust to any kind of accomodations but if you pay for a 5* hotel then you expect 5* service. Sad because everything else is really good.

Hello everyone. We stayed at this hotel at the end of November 2024. Initially, we booked the hotel for 5 days, then we extended, extended and in the end, we stayed there for 11 nights. The hotel is new, clean. The rooms have good quality robes, toiletries. We were quite satisfied with the breakfasts. We were pleased with the availability of freshly squeezed juices. The main staff does not speak English, but this is not a problem, since the on-line translator saves us, and the staff tries very hard to understand what you want from them. The only person who speaks excellent English was the manager Sam. A man passionate about his work. He told us a lot about the hotel and what is nearby. And there is a lot there: a park with playgrounds, a bungee jump, and a birdhouse with parrots. Sam showed us a place next to the hotel, which is a set for films. Boat station, where you can take a boat and take a walk on the lake and go straight to the hotel grounds. The hotel itself is in a great location, in a lowland, on the shore of the lake. If you plan a trip to Kunming, then it is far from the city. But we needed a quiet and beautiful place. And we got it. With the window open in the evenings and mornings you can hear the fish splashing in the lake and the ducks quacking. It was great to sleep, as the mattress and pillows are of excellent quality. We will definitely come back here and will recommend it to our friends. P.S. Once again, we say a huge thank you to Sam, he not only told and showed us a lot about the hotel and the surrounding area, he also helped us solve some issues with our luggage at the airport. A wonderful, responsive person. The hotel management is very lucky to have such a person on their team.

The hotel is one of the newest to open in Kunming, which attracted me to choose Jen for my stay in the city.  The hotel is well located, with the MRT just beside the hotel, making travelling on the train very easy.  However, check-in/check out can be a lengthy affair, especially if you cannot speak Mandarin fluently, and the limited staff at the check-in desk.  As I booked this room using Trip.com, which comes with several benefits like breakfast and welcome drinks, I had a problem getting the reception to agree that my room includes breakfast and the welcome drinks.  And when I asked where I can claim my welcome drinks and dessert, I was initially told that it was already sent to my room.  But when I came down to the reception and asked where in the room my welcome drinks and dessert were was, I was informed by another reception manager that I had to have the drinks at the 'Open House' cafe besides the reception.  At the 'Open House,' I was shown the welcome drinks menu, and instead of offering me a seat inside to enjoy my drinks, I was given my canned soft drinks selection in a plastic bag to take back to the room. The most uncomfortable part of my stay was the toilet, which made a loud shuddering noise whenever the cistern was filled. Initially, I thought it was another hotel guest slamming the room door hard.  But I later realised it was coming from my toilet.  I didn't complain to the front desk as I would have guessed that the previous guest would have already done so, and nothing has been done to fix the problem yet.  And I didn't want to change rooms again given my short stays ( I had upgraded to this room from an earlier booking direct with the hotel).  Another issue was the room water dispenser was not working, and it was only when we informed the reception that it was not working, the reception subsequently sent up a kettle.  And on my last night of stay, the emergency white light came on several times briefly in the middle of the night. Breakfast had a good selection offering local, Asian and western options.  I especially like the freshly made wonton noodle soup and congee. Overall, I like the hotel  despite the slight issues I encountered and would like to stay here again.  I believe these are just teething issues of a new hotel which would be ironed out in due time.  I would highly recommend this hotel for visitors to Kunming.
