My experience at Rhiga Royal Hotel was deeply disappointing. At hotels, I encountered many staffs (almost all) who appeared indifferent, cold, and emotionally detached. There were no smiles, no warmth, and no sense of welcome—only rigid, mechanical interactions. Despite paying a high price for accommodation, I felt like an inconvenience rather than a valued guest. Japan was once famous worldwide for its exceptional service culture and gracious hospitality. Based on my recent experience, that reputation no longer holds true. What remains is efficiency without kindness, politeness without sincerity, and service stripped of human warmth. This was not just disappointing—it was disheartening. The hotel appears to be quite old and poorly maintained. The condition of the room shows clear signs of long-term wear and neglect. As shown in the photo, the door frame and lock area are visibly damaged, with peeling paint, cracked surfaces, and poorly repaired sections. This is not a minor cosmetic issue but a sign of aging infrastructure that has not been properly renovated. The overall atmosphere feels tired and neglected, and the property would greatly benefit from serious renovation and refurbishment.

Nice, calm and compact hotel situated in a neighborhood (no traffic sounds). Very comfortable beds 🛌, I had a great sleep. Friendly staff. Unfortunately the hotel doesn’t offer anything except of the most basic necessities (amenities), but for sleeping over it is good enough. Walkable distance to the imperial palace park, walkable to the centre, very good location. The room(s) could use deeper cleaning of the dust in the rooms (see pictures).

The room is quite spacious and there is washing machine with detergent inside the room in the shower area which is a plus. There is also heater in the kitchen which can be used to dry your clothes. Room is also clean and have the basic amenities such as toothbrush, razor, comb, etc. The only cons is that the staff might be away at the reception during lunch hour and there is no one there to guide you to check in. Will be good if there is at least 1 staff there at the counter on rotate. Highly recommended to stay here as it is quiet, clean, and near the subway/bus stop to tourist attraction.

Nice hotel, rooms are bit old fashioned but still ok. During “winter” period no airconditioning. So you have to sleep with window open. If not it is getting to warm. Housekeeping however closes the windows after clean-up. Which doesn’t help. For breakfast I recommend to not take it in hotel. Fat more nicer - better places available for same or somewhat more money.

Bazı insanlar lezzetli olmadığını söyledi, ancak sanırım geceliği yaklaşık 30.000 ila 50.000 yen tutan bir ryokan hanındaki yemeği hayal ediyorlar. Bu lüks bir han değil, dolayısıyla yiyecekler makul standartlarda. Akşam yemeği için iki seçenekten birini seçebilirsiniz: günlük set menü veya köri. Günlük set menüde hamburger bifteği ve zencefilli domuz eti yedim. Köri, kroket ve salata ile servis edilir. Salata self-servis olarak sunuluyordu ve içecekler arasında kahve, sebze suyu, portakal suyu, çay vb. bulunuyordu. Odalar sade ve çok geniş değil, ancak konaklama maliyetini göz önünde bulundurduğunuzda fiyatı uygun, yemekler dahil edildiğinde ise çok ucuz. Büyük hamam aynı zamanda 10 kişiden fazla kişiyi ağırlayabilecek kadar da genişti. Lütfen resepsiyonun her zaman meşgul olduğunu, bu nedenle hana döndüğünüzde check-in işleminizin veya anahtarınızı almanızın biraz zaman alabileceğini unutmayın.

[Tanrılardan korkmuyorsanız, kalabalığın az olduğu gece saatlerinde tapınağı ziyaret edin 🫣] Google Haritalar sizi yaklaşık 10-15 dakikalık yürüme mesafesindeki otele götürecek. Kendine özgü kırmızı tuğla yapısını kaçırmayacaksınız. Kalabalıktan uzak durup sakin bir yerleşim bölgesinin tadını çıkarmak istiyorsanız konumu mükemmel. Otel, ihtiyaç halinde sınırsız banyo malzemesi sunuyor. Banyo, Batı standartlarına göre küçük. Ancak genel olarak oda, Tokyo'daki tipik odalardan daha büyük.

Fantastic hotel a short walk from Kyoto station. Normally I'd advise against purchasing hotel breakfast in favour of finding your own options for cheaper/flexibility to suit your schedule, however the Japanese style breakfast buffet was impressive in variety and taste. Just make sure you get in early as wait times are long in the morning. Onsen facilities are fairly large with multiple pools + sauna. Free ice cream and drink machines were a nice plus. Our room had a persistent high pitched sound coming from the ventilation system (that can't be switched off), but eventually got used to it.
