"Very modern Japanese hotel. It is quite new as it is refurbished 2 years ago. Very clean and the onsen in the hotel is very modern. They offer another onsen which is opposite the hotel, which is much bigger but older. Room is small but adequate enough with everything supplied. Free parking and outside is the bus stop for those taking public bus. Overall hotel is great but abit pricy."

"The location is great and with good view for sunrise, the room is big and with beds and futons and tables with teapot and cups. The bathroom is small and old. The hot spring is pretty good. Not sure why we are not allowed to park at the parking near the hotel and be asked to park the far one on the hill which need some walk."

"A comfortable stay with staff who are attentive to service. We loved the location of the ryokan and both the private and public onsens were clean and well-kept. We also found the quality of the food from restaurant very good. Loved how it was nestled high on the mountain which gave a bit of privacy. Shame the front facade was hidden due to renovations, but would love to come back again once it is fully renovated."

No beef , only lamb meat is not fresh. Not satisfied with the food quality. We wanna have cup noodles after meal. Breakfast is slight better. - **Variety:** Insufficient choices (both Western & Japanese); lacked local/seasonal specialties expected at onsen hotels. Pretty disappointed. We been to many onsen hotel in Japan. Never encountered this. - **Service/Clarity:** Buffet poorly organized; unclear signage led to confusion over food availability. - **Expectations:** Meals didn’t showcase regional ingredients or highlight local cuisine like other onsen resorts. Hakone is famous onsen should showcase their seasonal ingredients in this region. **Summary:** Strong potential with modern facilities, but **critical improvements needed in dining quality** and **room accessibility** to meet onsen hotel standards."

"One of the best, if not the best spot to stay for a night when we came down to Yumoto. The foods great, the onsen s sizeable compared to the ones I went before, and it’s a walkable distance away from the Main Street, if not directly adjacent. I enjoyed every bit of my stay here, and I would love to revisit again in my lifetime."

"Personel çok nazikti ve her gün konforlu bir konaklama geçirdim. Teşekkürler. Temiz, klasik bir otel ve konukların çoğu rahattı, bu yüzden kendimi çok rahat hissettim. Gün içinde gezdim, ancak bir dahaki sefere salonun verandasında dinlenmenin güzel olacağını düşünüyorum. Kahvaltı büfesi de lezzetliydi. Köri ve güveci çok beğendim. "The hotel location was great. We were in Hakone for the Onsen (hotel springs), and the hostel was near a lot of them. The staff was very helpful and enthusiastic. The hostel also offered an interesting diner, but we haven't try it. The building and interior was looking very Japenese traditional. Much appreciated for an immersive experience in Japan!"

"Managed to get on the last boat ride across Lake Ashi and was there in time for the hotel shuttle pick up. It was pitch dark out around 5pm during Japan's autumn however the hotel lobby is cozy and inviting, one that is full of history. The friendly front desk handed me a key with a large wooden key chain, and I checked out the large room prior to my dinner timing. There's a door to partition the bedroom and toilet/entrance area which felt nice. Dinner was a set menu and one that was filling. There are ice machine dispenser at the male onsen level and female onsen was on the highest floor. There's a lift that brings you to right outside the spa so visitors won't have to walk across the lobby area in their yukatas. Onsen was clean and spacious, there's a shower area to clean up, a sauna, outdoor and indoor onsen. Dressing room area has all the amenities you need and the ice popsicle after onsen is a nice touch. Woke up the next morning to catch the sunrise and caught a nice view of golden rays spewing across Lake Ashi, the garden and the glorious Mount Fuji right from my room. 100% recommended staying at this hotel! Had a super filing Japanese breakfast and checked out to explore the rest of Hakone."

"Location is good and within 10 minutes drive from the Gotemba Premium Outlet. Hotel rooms are slightly dusty, but good for short stays especially after outlet visits :) Public hot springs are spacious and better than expected, with both indoors and outdoors available. Some rooms can see the Mount Fuji. Otherwise, 12/F is available for public access with a panorama view of Mount Fuji. Breakfast is also satisfying."

"This hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!"

MMisafir KullanıcıReally nice hotel at Hakone Ashi Lake. Location is a little remote but they have a shuttle bus from Odawara St. And it's nice and quiet.. The rooms have bakconies, I had with Lake view...sooo nice.

WWilliamgray81Hakone Hotel is a historic piece of Hakone and has maintained its elegance over the decades. It has spacious rooms with comfortable beds and if lucky, great views of the lake and Mt. Fuji. The onsen are a nice touch, and included for guests with minimal charge, 150 yen per da, and seems to be compulsory. The breakfast is simple, with an order main dish, and buffet for the additional options. The French toast is amazing. The staff is extremely helpful and speaks English relatively well. The hotel offers free welcome drinks and free soft drinks, coffee, milk tea, cocoa, and more throughout the day. The location is perfect for getting on the lake cruise, which takes you to the shrine in 5 minutes, the cable car in 25 minutes, which goes onward to the steam vents. There are limited restaurants nearby the hotel, but there's an excellent Indian place right next door, a Japanese food truck that makes great grilled chicken yakotori, wagyu beef, and a Mediterranean that i didn't have an opportunity to try. This is an excellent hotel and somewhere I'd stay again. It does take about 40 minutes by bus from the train station, but worth the effort.

MMisafir KullanıcıA really lovely hotel, not though in a particularly nice location.  The hotel staff are superb, from your very first welcome to the wave on departure.   There are complimentary drinks available in reception up until 5.30pm and free shuttles to & from Gora.  The free shuttle bus to and from Odawara is also a bonus.  The rooms are pleasantly decorated with comfortable bed and pillows.  The onsen on the balcony was a nice addition.   Whenever we called reception to ask for something they responded instantly. The breakfast was amazing, so much choice with good quality food.   We ate in both evenings as there’s not much around.   Karen in the restaurant was a delightful member of staff, welcoming us back, remembering our drinks choices from the night before and chatting with us about our  next destination.   It’s a pricey hotel but of good quality and handy for going on the Hakone loop.

MMisafir Kullanıcı☀️ When i first arrived, i thought i was at the wrong place - i‘ve never booked something so nice for myself before! 🪲PROS - chill 4 people bedrooms, with a comfy bed and a big personal shelf + locker and a fridge for the room - clean facilities and rooms - towel, toothpaste/toothpaste and yukata were provided as well as shampoo and showergel - the common room was so cozy and nice, with tea and water always at the ready and a great view of the garden - i was satisfied with both the dinner and breakfast and the price was fairly cheap (~1200¥ or a bit more, depending on your choices) - PRIVATE ONSEN that you can book for around 50minutes at night and can use in the morning if nobody else is already using it (costs around 150¥ per use) - there is a shuttle bus going at pretty regular times in the morning. They offer a ride to both Gora-Station or Hakone-Open-Air-Museum! 🩸CONS - far from the city-centre/train station 🌱 i really enjoyed my stay. I had cool roomies that became travel companions and absolutely loved the inn, the onsen, the food and the kind staff! Definitely a recommendation if you ever decide to stay in Hakone - i would book again!

A bit hard to find, very limited English spoken by the staff which led to some confusion (even for the representatives who were assigned to us by English speakers). Felt quite formal and not that warm Room was more or less as expected, and the dinner and breakfast meals were quite elaborate. Felt that breakfast was actually the stronger meal of the two, so wasn’t necessarily worth it to pay extra for dinner. I’d likely skip doing dinner in the future. The room attendant who helped us was very kind and attentive, although we had a bit of language barrier given we don’t speak Japanese. The big disappointment was even though the ryokan is advertised as allowing guests to book one of the larger hot springs on the property for private use for 45 minutes, we weren’t able to do this. We arrived within the designated check in time and were told that it was all booked up for the day. There was no way to book in advance and we were only staying for one night, and they didn’t try to accommodate allowing us to book at all for the next day before checkout. This really hampered the experience overall - we weren’t that interested in using the gender segregated facility (was traveling with my partner who is the opposite gender) as we wouldn’t be able to spend time together, and the tub in our room was quite small. They should amend this policy to allow all guests to book a private hot spring time or not advertise it as part of the room! Feels like we got cheated out of the service and we weren’t offered anything else as an alternative. I would have booked another ryokan had I known this were the case - there are many others in Hakone which are much better value and have nicer / newer private facilities for around the same price. I wouldn’t recommend Yama no Chaya given this was a big part of what we thought would make it a good experience

MMisafir KullanıcıThe service was excellent. The hot springs were very enjoyable. They have different types of hotsprings (regular, carbonic acid, cold). The food was excellent. We were stuffed. The portion was huge and the variety was wide.  Hygiene was great. The room was spotless and the balcony was very romantic under the moon light. Well worth the money.

MMisafir Kullanıcı部屋内の冷蔵庫がすごく汚かったです。開けてすぐ気持ち悪くて閉めたので埃かカビなのかはしれませんが…冷蔵庫の中も掃除した方がいいかと思います。 冷蔵庫すぐ上に置いてあったティーポットにも茶かぶと水が残っていて洗ってないかなって…思って使えませんでした。 また、夕ご飯の際に外国人の従業員の方が自分に聞かずに茶道具等を持って行かれてしまいました。温泉上がりにお茶も飲みたかったんですが、一旦下げる前には聞いて欲しかったです。後、出る際もドアも閉めずに出て自分が立ち上がって閉めました。 上記の3点以外には温泉施設も部屋へ案内してくださった方もとても親切だったので不満はなかったです。

アアント箱根の観光エリアから近く、バスも通って、また周りにイタリアレストラン、スーマーも有って、今回は、大変助かった。 また、駐車場も有って尚更よかったかな。 また、利用したいと思う。
