"We experienced the best and most amazing hospitality here! I had requested the hotel to book a driver for our family and luggage. When we arrived, the lady boss came to the main street to fetch us and led us to the hotel. Without her, we would have definitely missed the small lane into the hotel. There is a huge wall with pictures to explain how to play in Dali behind the counter. Lady boss was very professional and used a pointer to explain all possible places of interest that we would like to go and about the ancient street. She explained it so well clearing all my queries. She could pinpoint all important points that we would like to know even before we asked and help us estimated time needed. She also gave us some fresh fruits! Room was clean and suitable for big families. The sofa bed that was further away from the heater had electric blanket so my kid was still warm and toasty. The bathroom had fan heater so it was comfortable taking shower despite the cold weather. Location was great too among the shops and main road. All in all, a great place to stay!"

"The lady owner is very kind and friendly to the guests. She will prepare homecooked mixian for her guests in the morning, which is very delicious and we immediately fall in love with the mixian. The environment is very zen, you can see her cat is trying to play with the fishes in the pond. We enjoyed our stay, regardless of the weather sunny day or raining day. We stayed different places in our trip to Yunnan, and we rated this place is the best place we ever stayed throughout the trip. Dali Ancient City is opposite of the main road, reachable within walking distance. You can even rent motorbikes and ride to Ancient City from the shops."

"Had a wonderful stay at Mengling Yayuan Hotel in Dali from 19 to 21 December 2025. The staff were exceptionally attentive and went out of their way to make my visit memorable—from a smooth check-in to thoughtful local recommendations, their hospitality truly stood out. The room was spacious, elegantly decorated, and equipped with modern amenities that made the stay both comfortable and convenient. I especially enjoyed the daily local breakfast options of noodles or congee, the relaxing afternoon tea, and the delicious desserts served in the evening. As we had an early checkout, the staff thoughtfully prepared a takeaway breakfast for our onward journey, which was greatly appreciated. Perfectly located just a few metres from the entrance to Dali Old Town, the hotel offers an ideal base for exploring the area. Mengling Yayuan Hotel beautifully blends traditional charm with modern comfort, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for its warm service and excellent facilities."

"This homestay is a lovely find—warm, welcoming, and full of charm. The tatami-style room was cozy, and the electric mattress pad kept me perfectly warm through Dali’s chilly nights. Service was thoughtful: afternoon tea, evening soup with fruit, and a hearty breakfast. The host went above and beyond—waiting for us even when we returned late, and helping carry our bags up and down despite no elevator. It truly felt like staying at a friend’s home, with genuine hospitality throughout. Highly recommended for a heartfelt, comfortable stay in Dali. A quick note: if you don’t speak Chinese, communication might be a bit challenging since the host doesn’t speak English."

"This is one of my favourite homestay in Dali. They are very helpful and kind . I have been requesting for quite a lot of help - collect parcel in behalf of me and they even do extra miles go to pickup my parcel. Save me extra supper, introducing nearby food to eat, culture sharing, they do provide for charter car service - but this will need to extra request. We booked for 2 nights and they give free pickup or drop off x1. They will text you a day before 💛. They have a very nice view for photos at their top floor. Food are simple yet light just perfect for us. Location wise is quite near roughly 5-7 minutes walk from hotel to Dali old town . Overall , 5/5"

"Okay if you’re looking for serenity, and budget friendly hotel but make it SANTORINI feelings, this is the hotel. 1. They have a really cute pretty amazing cat!!! Which i love!!!!! I came down at the lobby just to play with the cat. The cat’s name is YUMK. 2. The service is a top-notch. The receptionist is so friendly, and welcoming. Though we speak different languages, but they are very accommodating. Thank you so much, really appreciate it. 3. The view??? OMG, superb!!!!!! With automatic curtain, once you wake up from your bed, just press the remote button it opens automatically, you’ll get the best view ever! 4. Toilet has bidet which is a plus point for us Malaysian! 5. Only downside, toilet was not clean up to my standards, that can be improved. Overall, i love this place with such a nice receptionist, welcoming Yumi cat, and nice view, and great price, what more could i ask for. It’s 1 hour away from the Ancient City Dali. Just take note. 5 mins away from the Santorini Dali where u can get Chagee and all, but if you know how to use the Scooter they provide the rental service , so thats fine,"

JJamie333The service was incredible. Everyone went out of their way to help me and make my trip as relaxing and fun as possible. Everything available was included in the price. They had a lovely selection of drinks and food available at all times. The room is so beautiful and the view is phenomenal. Breakfast was also delicious. Very close to the railway station. Tourist destinations are a little far.

YYuki Serene AngI had an extremely enjoyable stay at Mr Ma’s accommodation. From the moment we arrived, he greeted us with genuine warmth and sincere hospitality. Throughout our stay, he assisted us with every need and often went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable. We loved our time here so much that we extended our stay to a total of six nights! We were deeply touched by his generosity and the thoughtfulness he showed every single day. Each morning, he checked in on us, asked if we had slept well, and made sure we had everything we needed. This is a family-run accommodation, and every member of the Ma family was friendly, warm, and welcoming. Mr Ma even took special care to accommodate my daughter’s cat allergy by keeping their cats away from the common areas — a gesture we truly appreciated. One of the highlights of our stay was the meaningful conversations we shared with the family. We exchanged stories about our respective countries, shared insights about our cultures, and learned so much from one another. These heartfelt chats made our stay feel even more personal, and we genuinely enjoyed connecting on a deeper level beyond the usual host–guest interactions. The room facilities were excellent — warm blankets, electric heating pads, newly installed air-conditioners, towels, a hair dryer, and a kettle. And every morning, we were greeted with a comforting bowl of noodles lovingly prepared by Mrs Ma — such a heartwarming way to start the day. The location is ideal as well: close to the bustling streets and ancient town, with the mountains and lake just nearby. We enjoyed sitting on the top-floor balcony in the cool, crisp morning air, taking in the peaceful mountain views. Mrs Ma also shared wonderful food recommendations, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. During our stay, we met international travellers from France, and the Ma family communicated effortlessly using translation apps. It’s clear they have plenty of experience hosting guests from around the world. We also made a short trip to Lijiang, arranged through Mr Ma’s recommendation — a comfortable 9-seater car that picked us up directly from the accommodation and dropped us off at our next destination. I highly, highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting the area. I am deeply grateful for the kindness and warmth shown to us throughout our stay — right up until the moment we left, when Mr Ma personally helped us with our luggage. Before you leave, be sure to take a photo with the family, and don’t miss the chance to chat with Mr Ma’s son, who is very eager to practise English with travellers. MMisafir KullanıcıI spent a wonderful two weeks here in April / May, and absolutely loved it - my calmest, easiest experience in China so far. The hotel is clean and beautiful, the quality of everything in the rooms is very high, but it still has a ‘homestay’ feel - the balance is just right. The roof terrace has a gorgeous view of the mountains and is very relaxing, the hosts are kind and helpful (no English is spoken, but WeChat works well). The street is quiet, but it’s only a few minutes’ walk to great street food, cafes, bars and restaurants. I absolutely recommend this hotel and will return if I’m ever in Dali again.

Taxi/Uber can park right in front the hotel entrance unlike some other ancient city hotels need to walk from the main street, which is incredibly convenient. The ”Nanyang style” decor style is retro and divine. Every single piece of the furniture and decor item is beautifully chosen, even including the fire distinguisher box! Excellent ambiance, BOSE music system is throughout the whole building. Dyson hair dryer, different type of charging cables in the best side table, every single details reflect the thoughtfulness. From exquisite afternoon tea, night snack (Broth of white fungus or hot milk), to ‘fine dining’ breakfast, every detail has been handled perfectly, and all complimentary. Big thank you to the staff, international 5+ star hotel standard, their beautiful smile truly make you feel like home, and hands down they make best coffee in Dali!

Everything was nicely prepared and felt like a proper home. The highlight was definitely the stunning lake view right from our window—perfect for sunrise lovers. 👩💼 Host experience: The homestay staff was incredibly friendly and understanding. She even arranged a free ride from the railway station, which we truly appreciated after a long day of travel. 🚧 Outside facilities: This is where it gets a bit mixed. The overall apartment complex (including the parking lot and elevator) felt poorly maintained, and the atmosphere at night was dark and slightly eerie, especially for solo travelers or couples. Many neighboring units seemed unoccupied, which added to the quiet, empty vibe. 📍 Location: Take note—this place is about 50 minutes from Dali Ancient City, so it’s not ideal if you’re planning to explore the old town daily. GGpranceThe staff at Hmyway was very thoughtful and made my stay more enjoyable. The hotel is very close to Dali Ancient city south entrance (5min walk) and your taxi (didi) could drive all the way to the hotel doorstep, so there would not be any problem if you have a big luggage. There are also plenty of food options around the hotel.

MM353381****房間很寬敞，帶小陽台，房價物超所值！中央空調很給力，離大理古城也很近哦，步行幾百米，也不會很吵鬧，房東哥哥姐姐人很好，有問題都會幫忙解決，住的很舒服，我們本來打算租電動車出去，問了姐姐一下，她直接把自己用的電動車給我們用了，也不收費，真的太感謝了，出門在外有時候可能會因為一點小小的問題就影響出行旅遊的心情，但是如果遇到好的房東，會大大加分哦！去逛了大理古城，龍龕碼頭，三月街，拍了好多美照，不虛此行啊！大家如果選擇住海西的話真的可以選擇她家哦，下面請大家欣賞美照，最後附上景點參考圖，希望大家都不會踩雷哦
